the cold intensified, resulting in the football club ending earlier than usual ( ten minutes left) and the team members all headed inside the building, noisily walking through to the changing rooms which the scent of sweat increased almost immediately. seokjin scrunched his nose irritably as the sweat swiftly entered his lungs. looking over the many heads in the changing room, seokjin tried to find jungkook. with most of the boys having dark hair, it made it harder to find jungkook specifically as he too had dark hair. getting changed quickly, seokjins intensions to wait for jungkook outside, he stuffed his kit in his bag, not caring if it would crease after. tapping the fronts of his shoes to secure his foot in place, seokjin gracelessly walked out the changing room, walked passed the receptionist and waited outside the building, sitting on a bench.
he watched another boy head out the doors, and another, and another ... and another. more of his teammates clashed out the doors of the building, all looking nothing like jungkook. had he already left? thinking of texting him, seokjin was about to take out his phone when he realised that he didn't have jungkooks number, slumping further into the bench. it was this time of year where he wished that he brought his puffer jacket, keeping his internal heat to himself, all warm and cosy because he must have waited around thirty minutes until a very familiar face appeared out the entrance of the sports building.
"oi, jungkook!" seokjin yelled over, even though he was a dozen feet away. abruptly, jungkook paused in his tracks and looked over to where his name was called from. from where seokjin was, he saw a small smile creep up on jungkooks lips. getting up, seokjin walked up to the smaller boy.
"were you waiting for me?" jungkook asked, perplexed.
"yeah, duh," scoffed seokjin, smiling lightly.
"why would you wait for me?"
"'cause you're my friend...?"
jungkooks smile widened and then he chuckled at himself, covering half his face with his right hand in embarrassment. looking at his smile, jin noticed how he resembled a bunny again, giving him a jolt of remembrance.
jin gasped, "i completely forgot to say this but taehyung interrupted us annoyingly," jungkooks eyes darkened a little bit, going unnoticed by seokjin as jin took in a breath, "you look so much like a bunny."
red flushed jungkooks cheeks, eyes widening and chuckled again with his head down, his cheeks growing more and more red. seokjin thought it was cute.
"that's the kindest thing anyone has ever said to me," said jungkook, admittedly.
"kind?"
"kind."
jungkook looked away, the remainder of his chuckle-smile remained, "we should get going."
"i'll walk you home until we part."
"okay, how far away do you live?"
"like, forty to fifty-minute walk..?" seokjin strained his voice, not sure how long he walked for. the thought of his mother complaining how he wasn't fit enough arose, confusing him how he walked a long way almost every day hadn't increased his fitness. more confusion overloaded him when the thought of him walking every day wasn't enough exercise for his mum.
"you good?"
"yeah, yeah, im just wondering how long- never mind, it doesn't matter," jungkook nodded his head, accepting seokjins sudden second thought.
they started the long walk with a normal, proper conversation; getting to know each other. asking each other, "what's your favourite colour", "who's your favourite musician", "where'd you like to go if you had the money," "if you had a million won, what would you do with it?" and all that jazz.
