"okay, class is over. you may have your lunch." the teacher said. the students got up and bowed to the teacher before leaving the classroom to have their lunch.as haeyoung went out the room, she was surprised by dongpyo and wonjin.
"CONGRATS ON BEING THE SMALL FORWARD!" they shouted, making everyone look at them.
"shut up." haeyoung said with her lips slightly curving upwards.
"c'mon, i know you want to smile. smile, noona." dongpyo said, hitting her shoulder playfully.
"okay, fine." haeyoung said, slightly smiling. "you didn't have to be so loud, though."
they arrived in the cafeteria, chatting. "i heard wang yiren was the other small forward." wonjin said.
"yeah, she is. she talked to me a while ago before classes started." haeyoung said.
"isn't yiren noona pretty?" wonjin said, looking at her from a far.
"i mean, she has that cute face but at the same time it looks kinda bitchy, y'know?" haeyoung said. "besides, why are you suddenly saying that she's pretty?"
"ooh~ wonjin likes yiren~" dongpyo said teasingly while shaking wonjin's shoulder.
"excuse me! i do not! what if i said dongpyo was handsome? does that mean i like him? it's called 'adoration', idiots." wonjin said.
"considering that he's blabbering way too many things-"
"don't even get me started, dongpyo. you don't want to see the ugly side of me." wonjin said, rolling his eyes.
"ooh, i'm scared!" dongpyo sarcastically said.
"your ugly side? am i not seeing it now?" haeyoung said, smirking.
wonjin sighed. "i swear-" he said, but he cut himself off, calming himself down. "thanks for that beautiful statement, haeyoung."
"thanks. the taste of your own medicine is good, eh?" haeyoung said, chuckling.
wonjin pursed his lips before showing haeyoung his middle finger.
haeyoung's jaw dropped. "there is a child here!" she said, covering dongpyo's eyes.
"ya! let go of my eyes!"
she let go as wonjin put his finger down. they continued eating and chatting as if nothing happened.

mingyu and eunsang watched the three friends from their table. "do you think wonjin likes haeyoung?" mingyu asked, chewing his food.
"i don't know... why do you think so?" eunsang replied.
"everytime i see haeyoung and wonjin alone, haeyoung looks like she's super annoyed at wonjin." mingyu said.
"haeyoung looks annoyed 24/7." eunsang said, chuckling. "what does her annoyed face have to do with wonjin liking her, anyway?"
"hold on, i'm not yet done." mingyu said. "anyway, if she has that face, then that most likely means that wonjin is teasing or annoying her. you know other boys, it's either their super nice to the girl they like or super annoying. and clearly, wonjin's part of the two."
"why do you even care anyway?" eunsang asked.
mingyu shrugged. "i don't even know. it's just, haeyoung is... interesting, y'know? i want to get to know her more after seeing her play basketball that day."
eunsang shrugged again and started eating his food. "do you like her?" he asked.
"as friends? i don't even know." mingyu said, unsure of his answer.
"feelings are complicated." eunsang said. "but i'm sure you'll know your feelings towards her someday."
"yeah." mingyu said. "but i want to know how i feel about her before it's too late."
too late? what does he mean by that? eunsang thought. the two continued eating their food as they continued chatting about their lives.

"ooh! ooh!" wonjin said, pointing to something. classes were over and it was time to go home. wonjin and haeyoung was in front of the main entrance, waiting for dongpyo. haeyoung followed wonjin's arm, and it led to wang yiren.
"you totally like her." haeyoung softly said.
"i don't!"
"then why are you pointing at her?"
"she's talking to mingyu! look! oh my god, i ship!" wonjin said as if he was a child that found an ice cream truck. the mention of mingyu's name caught haeyoung's attention. indeed, yiren was talking to mingyu and eunsang.
"wait, isn't she talking to eunsang?" haeyoung assured.
"nah, she's definitely looking at mingyu. ooh, if they start to date, they'd be the 'visual couple'!" wonjin said. "they're like, so perfect for each other. smart, good-looking, rich-"
"calm down." haeyoung said. i'm basically nothing compared to yiren. haeyoung thought. there was a good possibility that mingyu would start liking yiren, and haeyoung wasn't liking it.
but what can i do? i'm just that dark, ugly, cold girl in class that nobody likes. at least she thought.
she snapped out of her thoughts when dongpyo arrived. "c'mon, let's go." the younger boy said. she sighed as they walked out the gate, her eyes still staying on mingyu and yiren having a conversation.
once her eyes couldn't follow them anymore, she sighed once again and continued walking.

"ANNOUNCEMENT: THE BASKETBALL TEAM (BOTH BOYS AND GIRLS) WILL HAVE A MEETING TODAY AT 3:30 PM, AT THE MAIN GYM. ATTENDANCE IS A MUST. THANK YOU." the paper on the announcement board said.
it was the next day, and haeyoung was one of the first people to arrive in school. she nodded as she saw the paper, and walked to her classroom.
a couple hours passed, and it was time for their meeting. haeyoung walked to the gym where she usually goes, and was met with the other teammates of her team and the boys' team.
"hey, haeyoung." hangyul said. haeyoung nodded once, and put her things down on the bleachers. she sat on the bleachers in silence, watching the other students talk to each other while waiting for the coach.
all of the students' heads turned towards the door as it opened, revealing coach lee, the coach of the basketball team.
"all right, everyone! gather on the bleachers, please." he said, pointing to a part of the bleachers. once everyone settled down, coach lee spoke again.
"we gathered here today for a very important announcement." coach said, receiving 'ooh'-s from the students in reply.
"in two weeks, you'll be having your first competition against another school!"
