"what made you come here at like, 10PM?" haeyoung asked, giving eunsang a warm drink to have. eunsang only had a thin jacket with him, along with a bag full of his things. "it's freezing, too. you want me to turn on the heater?""oh, if it's fine with you."
haeyoung turned on the heater, and eunsang felt a wave of warm air hit his body. it finally lessened his freezing state, after being out in the cold with barely anything to protect his body from the cold weather.
"anyway, what made you come here?"
should i tell the truth or not? eunsang thought, having a mini-dilemma going on his mind. "well, my mom and i kind of had an argument... i didn't want to stay there so i just made the choice to come here." that was kinda the truth...? eunsang thought.
"oh, then why did you bring so many of your clothes?"
"a-ah, well... i wanted to..." eunsang didn't know what to say. "i was planning to go to my aunt's house for a bit, but it was too cold and too far away so... yeah." what an awful explanation, eunsang. good job. he thought, mentally facepalming.
"well, how did your grandmother's surgery go?" eunsang said, changing the topic.
"oh- um, it went... uh, okay, i guess." haeyoung said, trying her best to cover up her sadness.
"you sure? your face doesn't say the same thing. you look like you cried, in fact. are you really okay, hae?"
"yeah- no, i promise. it's just... it went well, but she's still in the hospital. i just cried a lot of tears of joy when i found out she is s-still ali... alive." she said, stuttering on the last few words.
"oh, that's good." eunsang said.
they chatted for a few more minutes, before it they realized it was getting late.
haeyoung drank some of her warm tea, then put her hands inside the pockets of the sweatshirt she was wearing. she sighed. "well, it's been a long day. i'm gonna go get ready for bed now." haeyoung said. "you can sleep in the guest room, it's the first door you see upstairs. it's a bit small, though. the bathroom is just beside that, so suit yourself."
"all right. goodnight." eunsang said, and haeyoung waved as she entered her room.
eunsang then took both of their empty mugs to the sink, putting it inside. but as he was walking out of the kitchen, eunsang saw some things that were left on the counter. it wasn't just any thing, though, it was the snacks eunsang bought for her. it was still unopened, even though it was haeyoung's favorite snack from the convenience store.
and that was when eunsang knew that haeyoung wasn't okay.

the next day came, and haeyoung woke up due to the sun blinding her swollen eyes from crying the night before. she stretched and laid on her bed for a bit, doing nothing. she sighed.
"time for another day in this horrible life." she said, yawning. she went out her room, and saw a note on the coffee table. it said,
'left already, on my way to my aunt's now. i already cleaned the mugs we drank out of last night. i noticed you didn't eat the snacks i gave you :( it's okay, as long as you ate properly yesterday :D thanks for the goodnight's sleep, love you. from, eunsangie <3'
haeyoung smiled at the note. so cute. she thought, chuckling. but then, she remembered something else. something else that ruined the mood.
