Erik sat in the passengers seat as Minerva drove the car. She had taken off her jacket and her tattoo of a hawk was clear on her shoulder. Erik head hurt more and more but he couldn't let that stop him.
"Care to explain?" Erik said after a while.
Minerva tool a deep breathe and began "we were a crazy group of friends, me, Drake, your dad, Nicole's mom Rachel... Arthur falls... And Tristin... We studied together at St.Emberal university, The key was a heirloom passed down in Tristan's family. Normally it just sat in a fancy box at his house.. But.. We were bored and... You get the idea.. So we figured that it could open anything and.. That was too precious to leave alone. We had a ton of fun with it but.. As I said before it.. Doesn't just do that, it.. Makes parts of you stronger, like.. Me, I was always good at chemistry, believe it or not and the key... Made me... instinctive, I don't even need to know what the solutions are, I can make... Whatever I want."
"My.. Dad?"
Minerva smirked,"he used his very well, the ability to convince anybody, a great trait for a lawyer don't you think"
Erik slumped into his chair, the key felt heavier and heavier, "so, why is the key bad?"
Minerva stayed silent for a few minutes and the sighed,"the longer you hold onto the key the stronger you get, but.. Remember Tristin the real owner of the key? He had the key with him all the time, and he started to hallucinate.. But that wasn't the problem, he.. Disappeared... Seized to exist... Spirited away.. Whatever you want to call it. All evidence of his existence just poof wasn't there anymore.. His parents did remember him, nobody remembered him! Except us! That's why we decided to seal the key away or destroy it maybe, Rachel.... Was supposed to have done that... I.. I don't know why or how your father had it!"
Erik sat letting all this absorb into him, "who killed my dad then?"
"We all.. Didn't exactly agree on the idea that we should get rid of the key... Arthur thought that Tristin himself was a hallucination or the key playing tricks, rather than it taking him away."
"Uh huh" Erik said unable to believe most of it.
*ring* Minerva's phone began to ring loudly, "crap" she said looking at the screen, "Drake is home already and probably saw it wrecked" she picked up the phone and switched it off. Erik looked at Minerva questioningly.
"I don't want him worried, I'll solve this problem quickly.. And have a peaceful family dinner again" she mumbled.
"so.. Where are we going?"
"Why? To Sammy's place of course!"
---------------------
Drake looked at the kitchen horrified, blood, duct tape, rope.. It was obvious! He fumbles with his phone calling Minerva, but she cuts the call freaking him out more, he walks up and down the entire house looking for the kids but nobody was there. Finally he calls the police.
Starr shows up in a few minutes and experts are all over, "Your family seems to have a knack for getting into trouble" he said.
"Shut up Edwin! Do your job!" Drake said frustrated, still trying to reach Minerva.
"Oh! Using my first name! Someone is mad!" Starr said, quickly looking at his phone.
"Er!"
"I thought you would have gotten him to leave you alone by now"
"I tried.."
Starr chuckled," Didn't work huh.. Where is your beloved wife?" He asked getting a cigarette.
Drake grabbed the cigarette from Starr and threw it," you know that I hate people who smoke"
"Fine, fine"
"I.. Don't know were she is"
"Aren't you worried she's gone off to do something rash?" Starr asked smirking.
"She wont.. "
"Mmm.. We'll see won't we" he said walking off while looking at his phone.
The next morning Rose was ready at the train station, with her purple hair curled and her usual wacky clothes. Jessica should up in a few minutes.
"Hey!! Super cool to finally meet you Jessy!" Rose exclaimed.
"Same here!"
"Were you able to contact them at all?"
"Nope, but they'll usually be home around this time so, fingers crossed"
"I swear though! If I knew earlier that Nicole had such cool friends, I might have moved here" Rose said with a grin.
As they neared the Theodore house they heard a bark! Scotch came running out of the blue to Jessica.
"OH MY GOD!! Cutest dog ever!!!!" Rose said jumping to pet him.
"Scotch? What are you doing here boy?"
"Ooooo his name is Scotch? Was Whisky taken?" Rose said ruffling his overgrown hair.
"You'll have to ask Sammy, where is he anyway? Leaving Scotch out like this!"
"Sammy?"
"He's Nicole's family gardener"
"Well, maybe we should take Mr.Scotch to the house then, he might be there"
Scotch wagged his tail as he jumped and run around Jessica and Rose.
"Yeah, let's do that"
Scotch obediently followed them to the house. Puzzled at the police car outside they went in, Drake spotted them as the entered.
"What are you kids doing here? .. With Scotch?"
"We umm.. Came to see Nicole" Jessica said.
"You should leave, I'll tell you when they find Nicole"
"Nicole is missing?!?" Jessica and Rose asked in unison.
Drake just sighed, and before he could stop Rose, she stormed in screaming for Nicole. And that was when she spotted the kitchen table dried up blood was all over the chair. Freaking out she stepped back, and fainted.
She woke up later at Nicole's room.
"How did I get here!?" She asked Jessica who stood by her side.
"Uncle Theodore and I carried you up here.." She said.
"There was so much blood" Rose said tearing up.
"Yeah.." Jessica said pacing around the room.
"Do.. They know who did this?"
"They think its Clarisse.. Sammy's wife and their cook"
Rose sat silently unable to respond. Jessica began to look into all the drawers and cupboards.
"What are you doing!?" Rose asked.
"We need to check the house, if I know Leo he definitely left us something to track him with"
"I'll help" Rose said hoping out of bed.
Jessica looked into the top draw and found the red book that was with the key.
"What's this tiny red book?"
"Oh! Nicole told me about that! She said she couldn't open it!"
Jessica cautiously and slowly tried to open the book.
"Umm.. you can open it just as easily as any book" she said.
