Unlikely Partnerships

After running from a confused Blake, Erik caught the first taxi and went off to the town library. The taxi ride gave him time to collect his thoughts, he tried calling Nicole and Leo but their phones just kept ringing. Annoyed that the pieces of information he had just fell short, he was determined to ask Minerva to explain everything. He felt the key sitting heavily in his pocket. Could he tell her about it? Or did she already know? His head started to hurt constantly. The taxi reached the library in 25 minutes, Erik ran inside hoping that Minerva hadn't left!

"You're late!" Said an annoyed Minerva standing at the magazine section.

"Umm.. Sor-"

"But, never mind that, so.. You and my kids.... What did you find about your dads murder?" She asked emotionlessly.

Erik's hand reached for his pocket, his head throbbed. Should he tell her?

"Spit it out! Don't just stare at me! They might be in danger!"

"Danger?!"

Minerva sunk back into her chair,"I haven't called the police yet but.. *sigh* I'm sure they've been kidnapped... Bloodied table and ropes gave me enough information" she said staring straight at Erik.

He was speechless, what could he say? He slowly took the key out of his pocket and placed it on the table. "Nicole and Leo found that at the crime scene"

Minerva's eyes widened as she grabbed the key. Her hands shook as she examined it. "How... How can this be?!? This.. Shouldn't exist" anger raged in her voice.

"...what.. Do you mean?" Erik asked.

"How long have you had this?!"

"Leo gave it to me a few weeks ago"

"You kids... Did you.. use it?"

".. I'm not sure what you mean by use but we found that it opens all doors" Erik said hesitantly.

Minerva swore under her breathe " that's not the only thing it does" she said and tossed it back to Erik.

"Fine.. If that's the way it is, don't hold on to the key, leave it in a box or something"

"Why did my father have this when he died?!" Erik asked annoyed.

"I.. I don't know! But he was killed for it! I can assure you that much.. And now....Leo and Nicole have been taken"

"So, this is some stupid fight over a key?! Yes, it can open anything but why would my father die to save that!"

"Listen... That..key.. It opens up a part of each person we didn't know existed, a characteristic or a power if you will.. The longer you hold on to it the stronger you get, but it doesn't end well.."

Nicole! She.. Could see memories, Erik remembered. She had it for the longest. " so.. My dad and you had the key before?.."

"Six of us... We were.. college mat-" her phone began to ring. "Shit! We don't have time! I will explain everything once I get Nicole and Leo back, keep the key safe" she said getting up.

"I'm coming with you!"

"What? No!"

"The man that killed my father has Nicole and Leo.. I will help!" He said firmly.

Minerva stood examining the boy. "Very well, but you better not be a nuisance" she said finally.

Jessica sat at her desk bored out of her mind. Leo hadn't come online in a while and her almost everybody was out on vacation.

Rosyprincesskawaii: hey! You're Nicole's friend right? :D

Jessi986: ya! You are?

Rosyprincesskawaii: I'm rose ;)

Jessi986:oh!! Nicole told me abt you!

Rosyprincesskawaii: really? :3 Lol! Do you know why she hasn't come online in like 10 years? We were supposed to chat today!

Jessi986: I'm not sure... Even Leo hasn't come online.

Rosyprincesskawaii: well.. I'll let you in on a secret.. I'm coming to visit Nicole tomorrow as a surprise!!

Jessi986: that's awesome! :)

Rosyprincesskawaii: but I don't.. Actually know where she lives :\ I was gonna smuggle it out of her in out chat, but by oh great sugar she hasn't come online!! >:(

Jessi986: ROFL!!! XD how about I take you to her place tomorrow? I will super close to the railway station anyway :)
