~Your POV~
You woke up with your head still on Brendon's shoulder. He had fallen asleep too and you tried not to wake him as you sat up and stretched. It had gotten dark outside and you checked your phone and it said it was 12:38 AM. You had slept for 7 hours, and you were guessing Brendon's been asleep around that amount of time as well. You figured you were flying somewhere near the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, and that you'd arrive in Italy in a about 7 more hours.
Brendon slowly woke up beside you and when he opened his eyes, he smiled at you. "Well good morning handsome" you said smiling back at him. "What time is it?" "12:43" "I slept for 7 hours?" You nodded. "I just woke up a few minutes ago as well." "Do you wanna watch a movie? I'm pretty sure they have the divergent series if you wanted to watch those to pass the time. I think they have Harry Potter too." Brendon says looking at the tv screen in front of him. "HARRY POTTERRR" you whisper yell since people around you were sleeping. Brendon smiles at you. "Harry Potter it is then." He selects the first movie and you once again rest your head on his shoulder.
About 5 hours had passed and you were just starting the third Harry Potter movie when the pilot announced that you would start your descent back down to the ground. There was hardly any turbulence the whole plane ride, which you were thankful for. Turbulence made you anxious. (A/N: cue Turbulent by Waterparks) in about 20 minutes, you could see the runway of the airport and the plane landed. There was a nine hour time difference from back home in Nevada to Italy, so while your phone read it was 6:30 AM back home, it was 3:30 in the afternoon here. The time difference was gonna take some getting used to and you knew you'd be jet lagged. You changed the time on your phone so it matched the current time in Rome.
You and Brendon got off the plane and went inside the airport to baggage claim. You got your bags and then went to rent a car to take to Brendon's family's villa. When you got everything sorted for the car and paid for it, Brendon got into the drivers seat and you got into the passenger seat. "It'll take us about 20 minutes to get to the villa from here. Then once we get there, pick out something nice to change into, and I'm gonna take you somewhere special to eat and then I have a surprise for afterwards." You nod. "Where are we going to eat?" "A restaurant called Tonnarello. They have amazing food there. I think you'll enjoy it."
As Brendon drove, you made small talk and tried to think of what Brendon had planned. You couldn't think of anything really, and just then Brendon turned down a road that lead into a little woodsy area. Pretty soon, a small villa came into view with a stone path leading up to the front door. There was a little gate at the very entrance. It was beautiful and away from the busy city. "Wow Bren.. this is beautiful!" "Not as beautiful as my wife." He smiles and you roll your eyes at his cheesy comment. He parked the car, and then you got all your luggage out. He took a key out of his pocket and unlocked the front door. It was almost as beautiful inside as the outside. It had dark hardwood floors and cream colored walls. The furniture was a light gray, and there were paintings hanging everywhere.
Brendon lead you to the bedroom so you could put your stuff in there and change. He took clothes out of his suitcase and went to the bathroom to change, as you pulled out a nice black blouse and jeans. You paired it with a pair of black flats and then went out into the living room to wait. He came out a few moments later in a white button down and black slacks with black dress shoes. "Ready to go?" He asks. "Yep!" He takes your hand and you walk back out to the car and begin driving to the restaurant.
You arrive in about 15 minutes and you go in and sit down. It was dimly lit and had statues of Roman gods everywhere. It was really pretty. You both look over the menu and then when the waitress comes back, you order your food and drinks. Brendon seemed really eager about what he had planned for after dinner, but he still wouldn't tell you what it was. "Pleaseee give me a hint." "Nope I can't do that. It has to be a complete surprise." "Does Dallon know about it?" "He does. But no texting him. Not that he'd tell you anyways. But I kind of want this trip to be phone free, just the two of us enjoying Rome without all the drama on Twitter or all the Instagram posts. The only exception is if friends or family text us. But no social media." He says and you nod.
In what seemed like record speed, the food arrives and it smells amazing. It was like a dream come true to be eating Italian food in Italy with the love of your life. You ate your food quickly, despite it being hot, just because it was so good and you didn't want to wait any longer. Brendon did the same. When you were both finished, the waitress brought the check and Brendon went to pay it, and you knew there would be no arguing with him about it, so you let him. "That was amazing." You say leaning back in your chair." "I told you it would be."
The waitress came and picked up the money and then came back with change and you and Brendon stood up. "Now for the surprise I've had planned. We're gonna have to drive a little ways, but not too far." As you walk out the door, what you guessed was the owner said something in Italian to you and Brendon, and Brendon responded in fluent Italian surprising you. "I didn't know you could speak Italian!" "Yeah, I learned when I was younger since my family is from here, and some relatives live here still and they prefer to talking in Italian rather than English. And the owner thanked us for coming and said he hopes he enjoy our evening." "You never cease to amaze me." You smile and kiss him then get in the car.
After driving for a half hour, Brendon pulls the car to the side of the road and comes around to the passenger side and opens the door for you, taking your hand. He starts to lead you down a small path into the woods. After walking a bit, you come across a beautiful clearing with a fountain in the middle and a few benches surrounding the fountain. You could hear birds chirping all around, and no one else was here but the two of you. You noticed an acoustic guitar sitting on a bench and Brendon walked over and picked it up. He motioned for you to sit down and you did. "So, I wrote a song for you, and I figured I would play it for you. I needed my guitar pick so I could play, and hopefully not mess up. Anyways, I called this song Always." You smiled at him and he started to play
"When the world gets too heavy
Put it on my back
I'll be your levy
You are taking me apart
Like bad glue
On a get well cardIt was always you
Falling for me
Now there's always time
Calling for me
I'm the light blinking at the end of the road
Blink back to let me know"Brendon's voice filled the air around you and tears started to well up in your eyes as you listened to the lyrics and how well he controlled his voice. He finished the song and then looked at you and smiled. You got up and ran to him, throwing your arms around him "I love you so much Bren, that was beautiful." "I'm glad you liked it baby." "How did you get the guitar here though?" You asked. "I had my aunt drop it off for me since she lives close to here." "You really should consider singing if you don't take up hockey again. You could really make it far in the music industry with how amazing your voice is." You say to him. "I don't know, I don't feel people would listen to my music." "You never know until you try."
You sat with Brendon in the clearing a bit longer before he led you to a small overhang to watch the sunset. You rested your head on his shoulder and he wrapped his arms around you. The first day of your honeymoon was almost over, but you were looking forward to what the rest of the trip had in store for you. If every night were like tonight, this would surely be the best trip you ever went on.
A/N: so this chapter was a bit longer than normal, but I hope you enjoyed! I know it wasn't the best chapter and it may have seemed like it took a while to progress, but I'm sorry. I wasn't too motivated to write today, and I might wait a few days to write the next chapter. But anyways, I hope you all have a good day/night and remember, Stay Frosty!
