The last couple of days... was exhausting. Malik and Altair has gotten the whole history down with ease, it was easy teaching them the world's history because they were so interested.
Technology however was a very different story. Altair set fire to the toaster and oven three times. Malik broke my computer because he got frustrated about... something. They became annoyed of technology easily and wanted nothing to do with it.
Now the only tech they will touch is a light switch, remote to the TV, and the faucets. Everything else, they ask me to do it. Lucky for them I work mostly at home, filing reports on my findings and historical knowledge and such. Or else they would be on their own.
I sighed as I struggled to decipher the hieroglyphics my boss sent me. I usually have no problem but... I've never seen this before. I gave up, throwing my hands up in the air.
I walked out of my room and downstairs. "Y/N)!" I groaned, what is it now.
I walked into the living room only to see Maple hissing at Altair who was littered in claw marks.
"Maple!" I called out.
The calico seemed to calm down as she strutted over to me, rubbing her head on my leg.
"Where did that beast come from!?" Altair questioned, backing away from Maple.
"This beast is Maple, she's my barn cat. Though I'm surprised she's in the house, she normally never come in here unless..." I picked her up scratching her behind the ear going into deep thought. "Where is Malik?" I asked.
"He went out to the stables in the backyard." Altair answered, hissing in pain as he took a rag and began to pat his wounds.
I groaned, "So that's why your in here." I looked at Maple, she purred in reply.
I sighed, walking outside making my way towards the stables. I opened the door to see Malik petting Apollo, rubbing his hand along Apollo's beige snout.
"You know you could've asked to see them." I said, placing Maple on a hat stack. Maple yawned, curling up into a ball, laying her tail over her muzzle.
"I know it's just... I feel as if this is the only thing connected to the past you know." Malik mumbled, leaning his head onto Apollo's.
I placed my hand on his shoulder, giving him a sad smile, "I couldn't imagine how hard it is for you, being in a different time with strange things and new rules but... I just want to let you know I'm here for you."
Malik pulled away from Apollo, nodding. "Yeah, I know."
There was a moment of silence before someone said, "You could've told me that Malik." We both turn to see Altair standing near the entrance.
He walked over towards us, I stepped aside to give them some space. "I miss our home too." Altair said in a sad tone, looking down.
"But ... we have to adjust to this place." Altair said, pulling down his hood to reveal dark brown hair.
"Altair we agree-"
"I know but... it doesn't look like we can go back to our time any time soon. Maybe never." Altair interrupted, crossing his arms. Altair sighed, "We have to learn how to live in this strange new world. It would be unfair to (Y/N)."
I looked at Altair in shock, ever since I got here he's done nothing but boss me around and demand stuff. Same with Malik except he did it less often and would normally give me a cold shoulder or tease me whenever I tried to converse with him. Altair of course either ignores me or tells me to go away.
But here he is, talking about my wellbeing.
Malik sighed sadly, "Your right Altair... for once." He looked over at me, pulling himself away from Apollo. "Teach us. Teach us how to live in your world."
Altair turned to face me to, his golden eyes staring straight into my (e/c) ones. I gave them a determined smile, "Ok."
That's where it began, I gave them new clothes thanks to my little sister's boyfriend who used to come over when she still lived here. I gave Altair a white sweatshirt since I thought he would be more comfortable with that on and I gave Malik a black shirt with some rock band logo on it.
I gave them some jeans and left them to change on their own. I would have both gave them a t-shirt and shorts since it was just the beginning of fall but... since they wore those robes I'm sure they will be fine in these.
"What did you say these were called again?" Altair asked, looking down at his white sweatshirt.
"That's a sweatshirt and jeans. Malik is wearing a t-shirt." I answered him.
Altair simply nodded, looking at me with determination in his gaze.
The whole day they insisted on me teaching them everything, ranging from the laws to even technology. Malik seemed to adjust to the technology a lot better than Altair.
For the whole entire week, not one incident popped up. No fires, nothing exploding, just... no destruction.
"(Y/N) what's that?" Malik asked, gesturing towards my pen. I was in the dinning room still trying to figure out what the hieroglyphs say.
"Oh this? It's a pen." I answered, holding it out for him to take. I was kind of surprised he didn't ask about it earlier, he seen me use it more than once before.
He took it, pressing the button on the top, a click sound came from it. "What does it do?" He asks, clicking it again for the tiny point to come out.
"You can write with it." I answered with an amused smile.
"Like a pencil? Why is there no eraser?" He asks, inspecting the pen.
"Sort of, it comes out in ink." I answered, taking the pen gently from him.
"Oh." I was quiet once more as he continued to watch me work.
Malik POV
I couldn't help but be interested in her. I've never really found a woman of my own unlike Altair... which I'm surprised that women can stand being around him and his ego.
But what I wonder most about her is her scar on her left eye, it seems as if a scratch of something sharp. Maybe it was a car accident? A lot of those seem to happen these days.
It doesn't seem like she can see out of that eye, she turns her head more than she should. But I could help thinking that the scar brings out more of her beauty, her gorgeous eyes can- WAIT!? NO! Bad brain!
I shook my head, trying to discard the thoughts. "You ok?" (Y/N) asked, giving me a worried look.
I felt my cheeks heat up a little, "Y-Yeah, I'm alright." Damn, I stuttered.
"You sure?" She asks, her eyes sparkling in concern.
"Yes!" I said, a bit too quickly... and loud.
"Ok?" She said, giving me a surprised look and begin working once more.
I looked down to see what she was struggling with, my eyes widened when a recognized the symbols on the paper. They were the symbols found in the temples of the people who cane first.
I shook my head, she can't possibly know that, sure she's a historian but she didn't even know assassins existed till now.
I look back up at her, staring at her scared eye. Or ... did she. "What happened with your eye?" I asked.
She froze in place, dropping her pen. I must've struck a nerve, "You don't have to tell me-"
"No, no I'm just surprised is all. I would've suspected you both ask on the day you met me." She said, giving me a reassuring smile.
"So what happened?" I asked again.
Before we answered, there was a loud crash and a bunch of barking. We both immediately stood up and ran towards the noise which came from the living room.
