I ran through the market, dodging a camel that came out of the alleyway before continuing to run down the street, keeping the small golden Bastet statue in my knapsack. I laugh as I look behind me to see the men go down a different path.

I slow my run down to a walk, adjusting my knapsack as I did so. "Hey! Theif!" I jump, whirling around to see a boy looking about five, about thigh height, running away from a stand with a colorful bracelet in his hands. A man from a merchant booth chased after him, chasing him into an alleyway.

I shake my head saying, "Looks like I'm saving a boy along the way." I run after them, turning to see the boy cornered while the merchant slammed the boy into the sandstone wall of the alleyway. "Excuse me sir." I call out to the merchant, causing him to look over at me.

"What do you want? Can't you see I'm busy?" He questioned, glaring up at me. Fear flashed across his face as his gaze wondered over to my scarred eye.

"If you don't mind but letting go of my ... cousin." I say, coming up with something quickly, crossing my arms.

The merchant immediately let go of the boy, raising his hands up in a surrender like way. "I am sorry miss, but the boy stole something of mine." He stated, crossing his arms trying to look intimidating.

I look over at the boy, "Is this true." He looked between me and the merchant, fear evident on his face. I give him a small nod of encouragement, which he responded with a small smile.

"It is cousin." He responded, now standing up straight.

I let out a sigh, walking over, grabbing the boy by the arm gently, before looking at the merchant. "I deeply apologize sir." I then look down at the boy, giving him a fake scowl, "I told you to tell me if you wanted something, I would've got it for you."

"I know, sorry." The boy replied.

I then handed the merchant a few piastres, "Here you go sir, for the bracelet." I say, before letting go of the boy's arm, gesturing for him to follow me. "Come now." I say, while walking away quickly before the merchant could realize there were only three piastres in his hand.

I then led him through the crowd, making us lost before the merchant could even try to chase us down. "Thank you miss." The boy spoke with a smile.

"Femi!" I hear a male shout, I look over to see a young man looking about a few years older than me.

"Over here brother!" The boy called back out, catching the young man's attention.

"There you are!" He then noticed me, "Who is this Femi?"

I was about to answer till the merchant caught sight of me, "Come back here!"

"Uh ... sorry gotta run!" I say with a smile, before running off, the merchant chasing me. Man what a day, I wonder if I'll ever see them again.

I walk through the bustling village as people go from place to place, some riding motor bikes down the road. I adjusted my travel backpack on my back along with making sure the star pendant was under my shirt. I moved clean out of the way as a few children run past.

"Geez, I forgot how hot it is here." I comment, rolling up the sleeves of my long sleeved, white button up shirt. I also wore wind breaker pants, hiking boots, and a belt which carried a water bottle and a gun ... you never know what could happen. I also wore a white bandana around my neck, just in case the wind starts picking up, carrying the sand.
