Three tumblers of Jack. That was the magic number. The amber liquid ran down her throat, into her blood stream and made the whirlwind of emotions dull to a low hum. She focused on Elliot and the parade of leather clad men coming in to the clubhouse. She was staring off into the mirror behind the bar when Elliot began to talk.
"Scarlett, this is Zac. Zac, LC's daughter Scarlett"
A large tattooed hand appeared in front of her and for a second she just stared. Then blushing for feeling like an idiot she shook it.
"Nice to meet you" she smiled. Zac was huge. A six foot something wall of tattoos and beard with probably fifty pounds of pure muscle on Elliott.
"Wow." She thought, or maybe said out loud seeing as both Elliott and Zac cracked a smile. "Sorry. Maybe I need to slow down""You're alright sugar." Elliott reassured with a hand on her back. His touch leaving fire running down her spine. The jack was definitely getting to her. The look on his face said maybe she wasn't the only one feeling it.
Elliot held up his hand motioning toward the bartender to pour one for both of them and she almost turned it down but then he poured it and the sound of the liquid splashing over ice made her mouth water."We will be right back." Elliott stated and then he and Zac were gone which left her sitting on a barstool alone. She turned towards the pool tables pretending to be interested in the game that two older men were playing. One of them noticed her interest, stood and leaned his cue against the table.
"You wanna play darlin'?" He was tall, not as big as Zac but much rounder. His black belt seemed to be straining at the buckle and his shirt couldn't have been tighter if it tried. He eased over to her, large black boots pounding against the hardwood.
"Oh no, I'm okay, I don't know how.""Well we will teach you" he said offering his hand. "I'm Lager, you are?"
"Scarlett." She said shaking his hand. But the shake turned into a pull and next thing she knew Lager and a man named Jet were teaching her to play pool. They had big scary biker written all over them but she learned quick there wasn't much scary about them other than their looks. Lager was goofy, she had a feeling he'd known who she was and was intentionally not mentioning her father. Which she appreciated. Jet was a talker, he rambled on and on about anything and everything that came to his mind, from pool to the baseball game playing on the big screen behind him. By the time Elliot got back, she had drank three more and was attempting to hit the six ball into the right corner without pushing the cue ball in right behind it, which she had done multiple times already.
"Elliott!" She smiled and wobbled slightly as he rounded the table. She almost stumbled right into him when his hands snaked out around her waist to steady her.
"I leave her with y'all, I should have known I'd come back to this" Elliott shook his head in Jet and Lager's direction. They shrugged and smiled.
"Just teaching her to play pool man, she got drunk on her own" Lager laughed. Scarlett's head whipped around to him and she gave him her best fake mad look.
"Traitor, I thought we were friends."
"We are darlin, but I don't want Elliott to beat my ass either."
"You wouldn't do that would you?" She gazed into Elliott's eyes looking down at her. His eyes turned back to Lager and he shook his head with a crooked grin.
"No sugar, don't listen to these idiots. They will get you in trouble" he chuckled.
"I'm in trouble?" Scarlett's face fell slightly.
"No no no, but I do think it's about time to get you home. I think you've drank us out of jack."
"You're right, I probably have" this made him chuckle again. Scarlett was enjoying the smiles he was giving her. "Alright then let's go." She turned and gave her new friends a wave goodbye and then Elliot's arm was around her waist leading her out the door.
