Several hours later, I got a text from Jason with an address for where he wanted to meet for drinks. He wanted to meet at 6pm at the whiskey bar, and glancing at the time, it was 4:30pm. I hopped off the couch, stretching and walking towards my bedroom. Looking at the bed, I decided a quick nap would help me, seeing as I didn't get much sleep the night before. I felt the heaviness of my eyes pull me into slumber.

I jolted up at the sound of my phone ringing on the bedside table next to me. Picking it up I answered with a very groggy "hello?"

"Bitch! Where are you! It's 6:15!" Jason shouted.
Oh fuck.
I sprung out of bed and raced into the bathroom.

"I'm so sorry, I fell asleep! I didn't have the greatest night last night" I muttered. "Ooh girl what did you do you bad thing" he laughed through the phone. "Not me, my stupid new neighbour" I sarcastically replied.

"Well hurry up and get here! I'll see you soon!" He shouted before hanging up. I stood in front of the mirror and applied some light makeup before pulling a black beanie over my hair to try to hide the bedhead I was working with. Zipping my heeled boots on, I took off out the door.

Luckily enough, the bar was only two blocks away and took me hardly any time at all to get there.
I spotted Jason from a mile away, laughing with someone at the bar. Jason's long blonde hair was longer on top but the sides of his head were faded down. Wearing a leather jacket and dark jeans, most girls would believe he was straight.. until he opened his mouth.

"Baby girl! You made it!" He squealed, pulling me into a bear hug and kissing each cheek. I glanced at the man sitting next to him. Tall, with light brown hair and bright blue eyes that crinkled just slightly at the sides, a clean shaven face and a sweet smile. He was tall, and lean but well built wearing a light blue sweater and grey khakis.

"Luna, I'd like you to meet a friend of mine, soon to be a friend of yours" he beamed.
Uh-oh. You sneaky bastard. Jason smiled so bright his teeth were practically glowing.
"This is Axel, he runs the finance department for Global events inc."

I turned to face Axel who was standing up to greet me. "Hey there Luna, I'm Axel, it's a pleasure to meet you" he stuck his hand out and I took it to shake. "Likewise Axel" I said with a half smile.

After some small talk (where are you from, how are you finding New York so far etc) Axel turned to me. "Can I buy you a drink?" He offered. He seemed genuinely nice and it would be great to know more than one person at work tomorrow.

"Sure, I'll just have a whiskey neat please" I replied. He learnt over the bar to place the order when Jason whispered in my ear "Isn't he fucking gorgeous Luna?" I turned to face him and whispered back "Yes, you would be perfect together" before laughing.

"What's so funny?" Axel asked.

"Nothing" Jason and I said at the same time before smiling at each other. After several hours and several drinks, we decided to call it a night. The snow had picked up outside and I hesitated.

"Did you need a lift home?" Axel offered. "I've only had one whiskey, I'm fine to drive you if you'd like" he replied with a smile.

"Sure, that would be awesome, thank you" I replied. Quickly hugging Jason goodbye, he shot me a knowing wink before pulling in Axel for a half hug. "See you both tomorrow!" He shouted, heading for his car.

"I don't live far from here, just a couple blocks up. I could walk if it's out of your way" I said.

"Don't be silly, I don't mind." He replied while opening his car door for me. We made some small talk on the way about his family back in California and how he ended up moving to New York. We pulled up out the front of my apartment block, and I turned to thank him for the ride.

"Give me your phone" he said. I hesitated, but handed it to him. He put his number in my phone, and I gave him mine. "Just text me or call me if you need a lift to work" he smiled. "Thanks, I have a truck and I'll be okay to get there. I appreciate your offer though. Thanks again for the ride, I'll see you tomorrow" I waved at him as I walked inside. He waited until I was safely inside the building before he drove away. A true gentleman.
