Luna POV:

The freezing cold breeze hit me as soon as I stepped out of my truck. As I stood on the sidewalk, I looked up to admire the beautiful brick building in front of me. Large gold gates were guarding the front entry of the apartment complex. My new home. The feeling of pride swelled in my chest.

Standing outside the doors I could see myself in the reflection of the dark glass. My long brown hair flowed in curls stopping just shy of my ribs. My hazel eyes bright and alert as I took in my cheeks and nose showing a bright pink colour from the cold.

I admit, I wasn't much to look at. I was too short, and some would say there's a little too much of me to love, thanks to my grandmas cooking. I felt an instant pang in my chest as I thought back to her. Only two months ago she was here with me, laughing, cooking and telling me stories of her adventures.

Quickly pulling myself back to reality, I buzzed a code into the keypad on the wall. The doors swung open, granting me entry out of the freezing snow. Shivering, I swung the lobby door open and stepped inside. The heat from the building instantly hit me, soothing my almost numb fingers.

I took my dark green coat off and shook it, loose bits of snow and water coming down onto the mat underneath my boots. I trudged my way to the currently empty front desk.

"Hello?" I called out to the closed door behind the desk. A loud bang echoed through the lobby, followed by several curse words. The wooden door opened and a very short elderly woman stomped out.

"Well bloody hell, someone better come and move these boxes from the staff room before I fall and snap my god damn neck!" She shouted back into the room. She turned and finally noticed my presence, and a half smile crossed her face, laced with irritation.

"Can I help you?" She said from across the counter.

"Uh yes, hi, I'm Luna, I've just taken over the lease for 23A? I'm here to pick up the keys and the garage remote for my carpark" I replied.

She eyed me up and down before responding.
"Oh yes, Frank mentioned something about someone finally renting 23A. Didn't think it was true to be honest, place has been for rent for so long I didn't even think it was still attracting interest" she retorted.

She had a short style of ginger fluffy hair that didn't quite reach her ears, face full of wrinkles and dark brown eyes, the heavy smell of cigarette that was radiating off her skin alongside the yellow stained teeth confirmed that she must have also been a smoker.

She handed over the keys and clicker before replying "I'm Mrs. Fletcher. If you need anything don't hesitate to not bother me, I'm not your mother, only call this reception desk in the case of emergencies" she spat out across the desk.

I opened my mouth to reply but Mrs Fletcher was already halfway through the staff room door while shouting "SOMEONE BETTER BE MOVING THOSE BOXES OR SO HELP YOU GOD" before slamming the door shut.

I took a few deep breaths before putting my coat back on and walking out to my truck, driving up into the undercover parking lot and into the 23A reserved parking space.

I stacked up two boxes in my hands at a time, moving into the elevator and pressing the 23rd apartment floor number. The lift took off slowly and the boxes in my hands grew heavier with each floor that passed.

The lift finally jumped to a stop on my floor and as soon as the doors opened I stepped out and made a dash for my apartment. I fumbled with my key for what felt like forever before it slid into the door. With a satisfied smile I pushed myself forward...only to fall straight into the hard metal door which had jammed.

The boxes tumbled out of my grasp and spilled out into the hallway. I inwardly groaned and bent down to pick up my clothes that had slipped out of the boxes.

"Jesus Christ on a bike" I muttered as I collected my bras that were strewn across the walkway.

It was at that moment I heard a low laugh coming from the direction in front of me. Snapping my head up I noticed a pair of dark green eyes looking back at me.
