It was a deadly silence around the entire mansion. Mr. Khan was contemplating from where should he start. He took a sip from his coffee prepared by his wife who was hidden from the world. Why would he hide her? What is his family secret? All these were nerve wrecking.

"I was 14 when I came to know about the secret. One day I came home tired from playing with A.K. He was still out with his friends who was determined to disobey our Ammi (mom)." he chuckled lightly. "When I was passing Abba's (father) room who was talking with someone. What I heard shocked me to the core. They were talking about killing the man who was standing for MLA election."

Atif's POV

FLASHBACK

"I want you to kill the candidate in return you can continue your business without any obstacle." The man sitting opposite to Abba said as he clenched his fists. My Abba smiled which was laced with evil intension. Suddenly the man got up hugging Abba and finalizing the deal. As soon as the man got out I barged into the room.

"I didn't know my Abba was a murderer!" I yelled at the man I admired the most. I always looked up at him to become like him. Now I feel disgusted to call him as my Abba. "Don't raise your voice, I am your father remember." he said in deathly calm tone which made my heart tremble a little, but he should know I am his blood and I am never going to back down.

"Yeah, of course you are my father as well as a murderer. Why? Why do you do this when you have enough money?" I cared less about the consequences, but I am not going to back down. He looked at me with unreadable expression but sighed and gestured me to have a seat. I was not ready to obey him but one look at his face was enough for me to do as he said.

"It's our family's tradition to do such things. I hope you are big enough to handle the truth. Our ancestors stayed at Hyderabad before moving here. Once a soldier asked my ancestor to kill his chief to gain his place. My ancestor was a poor citizen who could not even afford a grain of rice. He killed the chief and got a lump some of money. Every generation followed the same as that of this person and till then no one knew." he took a pause and opened the fridge to take the chilled water.

"When one of my ancestor got caught while doing his deed the Nawab of that area tried to kill him so he fled Hyderabad and settled here. But this did not stop, as my ancestor's name got famous and one of the British officer made a deal that he will kill the higher official and he will be free of all the charges. This is continuing from our ancestors and what do you think that your grand father was forbidden from this business then you are wrong."

"he was the one who involved me into this and your brother will take my place once my turn is over." he said and drank the chilled water which he removed from the fridge. Everything he told was difficult to process. If our ancestor followed this then he could have stopped it but no he wants to make his sons the same monster now he is.

"I won't let bhai jaan get involved in this." I said in a very calm tone but I was determined. "What did you say?" the man whom I worshipped asked me hearing me. "I told I am not letting my brother to be a monster like you!!" I yelled throwing the nearest flower vase kept on the table. The man in front of me who I called my father smirked at me.

"You really think you can succeed? Well, sorry to bust your bubble but if he is not fit to take my place then you will be in my place." By now I was totally seeing red. My only aim was to save my family from this man. "Neither will I join this bloody business nor will my brother that's a promise." I said it on his face and left the room slamming the door.

END FLASHBACK

"This is the family secret that we all are hiding. As I promised, I never let A.K or me to get involved with it. I thought it was only take money and kill but it grew as the mafia. Now they sell drugs, sell illegal weapons, smuggle silver form other country." I completed saying the secret of my family which is now not at all secret. The boy in front of me, may be his name is Manik asked me the question "What do you mean by 'now'. According to my knowledge Your father is totally paralysed then who is running it."

He is really smart who knows what is important. He reminds me of Varna, my SIL who was not taking a chance when it was a family matter. "Someone else is running the mafia." Along with my wife Manik and Nandini's eyes widened. I never shared this information with anyone and the person who is running is not aware of the fact that I have a family then I am definitely sure when that person comes to know then my children's lives are in danger.

"Why didn't you tell me this?" my wife asked which showed the fear of loosing all her family. She knew the consequence as she was the daughter of one of the member of that horrible mafia. "I will tell everything I know but not today. Today is really not the day I will tell you a location then you can know all the things you want to know about Varna." I said and Manik agree instantly.

"Do you know who killed Varna?" this the question which remained as a question. I tried my best to get the mystery solved but it was not as easy as it seemed. I shook my head at Nandini's question whose face dropped seeing me. This girl really has fire in her. She can even bring the mountains to her feet.

I think Varna's case might get solved which was impossible since 2 decades.
