36. Surprise Birthday Plans

   I love Sundays, because it is the day where you can sleep for infinity time. There is no work and only thing you do is eat, watch movies, sleep again, hang out with friends, party for a while etc. I should be doing this, but I am sitting in front of fab 5, Navya, Vibha and Mr. Thakkar who are quarrelling to decide who will do what work. Its going on since past half an hour and we couldn't decide what to do. 

  "Guys stop it!!" Mr. Thakkar yelled at everyone. "I will assign the jobs, you will do that okay?" Mr. Thakkar asked, but how can Kabir. Dhawan sit quiet "Why should we listen to you?" I so badly wanted to smack his head, but prevented myself from doing it. "Shut up and listen to him!" Navya fulfilled my wish by smacking his head. He pouted and gestured Mr. Thakkar to continue with his hands. 

 "Manik's birthday is in two days so I have listed certain people doing certain things. Druv, Aliya and Vibha will do the decors. Navya, Kabir will handle the catering department. Me and Mukti will invite all the members for surprise party." Where did I come here? "Mr. Thakkar...." I was cut off in the middle by supervisor, none other than Abhimanyu. Thakkar. "Call me Abhi, I feel like I am older than my father, when you call me by this name." Everyone present in the living room chuckled at his statement.

  "Okay, Abhi What will I do?" I asked to which he handed me 2 pairs of 5 different labelled ticket. "You will distract Manik." Okay I understand that, but how will I be distraction? Seeing my confused state he took back the tickets and spread it across the table. "The first ticket is of a blood donation camp where you will take Manik there at 7:00 am tomorrow. After blood donation you will go to a hotel to have your breakfast. The second ticket is of the movie which starts at 10:00 am where you will spend at least 3 hours and you can add extra one hour for your shopping. Okay scratch you can spend maximum four hours there."

  I don't like shopping, but I can go somewhere like temple. "The third ticket gives you an access for gaming centre where you can play any number of games. The fourth ticket gives you a  romantic date in one of the resort. The fifth ticket....oh sorry it's for me and Mukti." he said and quickly hid the tickets. "You need to bring Manik to this bungalow exactly at 12:00am. From there we all can manage." I need a dozen of energy drinks tomorrow.

  "If you had to tell this, then why the hell did you call us at 6:00am of Sunday morning?" This wonderful valid question was asked by Vibha. "Sorry everyone, but Manik is not the morning person and this is the only time we get to plan all this." Aliya reasoned to all the confusions. I am really sleepy so I did the only thing that came to my mind. "Guys good night" I said and went inside my bedroom. I am damn sure even Navya and Vibha are going to join me. 

  It was 10:00am when I woke up due to ringing of my phone. "Hello" I told as a formality in my morning voice which seemed hoarse. "Am I talking to Nandini. Murthy?" The voice asked and my eyes had totally decided to not to open. "Yes" I told still closing my eyes praying it to be a wrong number. "I am Atif. Khan" This was all that required for me to jerk away from my sleep and sit erect. "I am sorry sir I did not recognise you." I said and rubbed my eyes to get rid of the morning sleep. "No, it's completely ok. I wanted to know if you are free tomorrow. we can meet in evening at 7:00pm." 

  It was the romantic date time where I had to take but I can take him the next day and cancel the event of our date tomorrow. "Yes I am free. Where should we meet?" I asked hoping me and Manik could reach at the correct time. "I will text you the address. Ok bye." This was the last thing I heard before my phone showed end of the call. I need to get up and choose a gift for Manik. I will give it on our romantic date but what should I give him?.

  My phone rang and it showed Manik as caller id. "Hey, good morning" I wished him cheerfully. "Good morning." his tone indicated that he was not happy. "My dad has told me to go to his office today as a very important meeting is held. Sorry I cannot hang out with you today." he was really very sorry from his tone. "It's ok Manik but tomorrow you need to hang out with me whole day." This will at least not create a doubt. "Will you not attend classes tomorrow?" I slapped my forehead. I never missed my classes if the matter was not that important. 

  "Manik I wanted to take a break from all these. Today Mr. Atif. Khan had called me and asked me to meet him tomorrow at 5:00pm so I thought why not take a break from all this." He started laughing like a maniac. "Nandini, tomorrow there is no college. Remember? tomorrow there is an important meeting for all the faculty about skill enhancement program so we are given the holiday." how can I forget that. I was dancing hearing this a week ago and now I don't even remember it.

 "Fine at what time are we going for your 'hang out'?" he asked specifying hang out. I told all my plans and guess what? he agreed to go with me and promised to spend time. Now I need to buy some gift and ask the resort to postpone our romantic date. I want to tell him the truth that I feel something something around him which may be love.... I want to try it.

  The most awaiting Monday even when there is no college.
