38. Surprise Birthday Party

 Thanks a lot for the numerous votes and comments. I am really sorry as I couldn't update. I was not feeling well so I had to rest and not update. I know you all are waiting for Manik's bday.

  "Surprise!!! Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to Manik. Happy birthday to you!!!!!" Me along with all the guests in my bungalow sang as we entered. Manik was still in shock . I had to drag him near the cake and by now he was smiling. As planned I brought him exactly at 12:00 am and everyone is happy.

  He cut the cake fed it to his parents. Almost 20 to 30 members were present. Some of our college faculty, some friends, parents of fab 5 were also present. A short pain hit me. I was his girlfriend, but I don't have parents to bring. It was the bitter truth, but it was truth. I sighed thinking about it makes my mood damp, so I thought of observing my surroundings. Everyone's face gave away that how tired they were. 

 "Mom meet Nandini. Murthy my boss." my eyes widened with the way he referred me "From when did I become your boss?" I exclaimed gaining some attention from near by guests.  "From the day we started MMVH mission." god he is still stuck there. "What does that mean?" I was about to answer but Aliya beat me to it "It's Murder Mystery of Varna. Hariharan." I observed all the parents of fab 4 present in front of me along with fab 4. 

  They introduced themselves and Kabir's mother thanked me for making his son stay away from his house after college. I was shocked by her statement, then she told the real reason as she could go to her ladies club meetings, she would not have to worry about him being home. Aliya whispered that he would set his house on fire trying all his cooking skills. I laughed at it, but covered it with a coughs. 

  I missed Mukti's parents. "Mukti, where are your parents? I know they are divorced, but I had seen them talking with one of the guests." Mukti sighed hearing my enquiry. "They both came here so they can bond well with Malhotras. They are thinking of marrying me off to Manik, but I pity them as I am dating Abhimanyu and even Manik's parents know that." we both looked at each other before growing into fits of laughter.

 "Can I have everyone's attention please. As you all know this surprise party was arranged by Manik's friends, I want to thank all of them for it. I invite all of you to the party arranged at resort Blue Rose for the celebration of my son's birthday provided by me. No offence kids, but I want to introduce my colleagues and business partners to my son and it is a party for the successful winning contract of German automobiles by my son." This earned a round of applause from everyone. 

 How are we going to romantic date now? Manik was sitting alone as his friends were at different corners. I went near him "happy birthday Manik" I said and sat beside him. He pulled me close to him by my waist "You already wished me. By the way thank you for surprise." I mirrored his smile Slowly everyone started going and the left were fab5, Vibha, Navya, Malhotra couple.

 "If you all are okay you all can stay here." I said and everyone agreed. "Did you buy a gift for Manik?" Navya asked after we entered the room. "Yes, I have it. What about you two?" I asked Vibha and Navya as they were helping in other things. "It's already done!" they both said it together.

 "We don't want to go" Aliya was practically crying on Druv's shoulder. Even I don't want to go, I just want to go to my bed, take the blanket and sleep, but Neyonika. Malhotra is strict like the jailer of prison who is adamant on sending us to college even after giving excuse that it was Manik's birthday. "If you all don't move your asses, you all will have to eat what I prepare for whole week." this was enough for everyone in the dining to run to their respective cars. "And you two, are you so much interested in having breakfast from my hand?" this was it when Manik dragged me with him as running older Malhotra was also seen.

 "Why are you dragging me? you know I don't have classes today." I said irritated by his behaviour. Now I have to walk from here to my room and now I want to be lazy for a while. 

 "I want good bye kiss." my eyes widened and I gestured towards his father about his presence, but Manik is Manik he pecked my lips "Don't worry even my father gets his share when my mom comes. On a serious note, stay away from Neyonika. Malhotra's cooking, it will make you wish you should have died before eating that gar..." he was left hanging as a very angry Mrs. Malhotra stormed in front of us yelling "I dare you to complete that sentence Manik."

 He ran away like he saw some ghosts. "Are you not going to college?" Mr. Malhotra asked me keeping her hands on her hips. "No, I don't have classes today." I informed her and went inside to complete my remaining sleep. I stole a glance at the couple and she was giving her goodbye kiss, but in a different way. She was smacking Mr. Malhotra's head.

 Me: Why is everyone afraid of Mrs. Malhotra's cooking skills.

 I messaged this to Manik so that I will be confirmed of upcoming danger.

Manik: My mother's recipes are total garbage, so I said you to stay away from her cooking skills.

 I laughed at his statement.

I never knew that most successful business woman of India was poor at cooking. Well everyone is not perfect.
