Bas' POV

After I was dropped off by P'Joss at my gate, I bombarded P'Godt with text messages which all got ignored.

I even tried to call him and when I got directed to his voicemail I left a message saying that I would be going to the hospital tomorrow morning to help him with his discharge preparations.

When he did not call back, I tried to video call him but after a thousand rings, I gave up.

I brewed myself a cup of lemon grass tea to help me to sleep.

It didn't do much good. It was close to dawn when I finally dozed off, purely out of mental exhaustion.

When I woke up, I happened to glance at the digital clock on my bedside table.

Shit, it was almost twelve noon. I had slept through the morning!

I hoped that I would still be able to make it on time to the hospital before P'Godt got discharged.

I was starting to get out of bed when I heard a short knock on the door.

Before I could even fully get out of bed, the door opened, and in walked P'Godt, limping slowly and painfully with his crutches.

"P'Gxxod!!! I was going to see you at the hospital this morning but I overslept!" I cried, running towards him.

"Help me to sit on your bed," was all he said, and I did as he asked.

I took away the crutch on the side of his good leg and placed my arm around his waist.

He placed his arm heavily on my shoulder and together we approached my bed.

I tried to help him to sit on my bed, but I must have let go of him too quickly because he ended up lying on my bed instead of just sitting.

I lay on top of him, but making sure not to put my weight on his chest.

Before he could say a word, I kissed him deeply.

He let the other crutch fall to the floor to free his arm, and encircled me with both arms.

Then we heard a knock on the door, and before I could straighten up, my mom walked in carrying a tray of snacks and drinks on it.

"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't realize..." her voice trailed off as she started walking backwards.

"No, no, no, mom, you didn't interrupt anything!" I protested, getting off the bed and taking the tray of snacks and drinks from her.

"Whatever you say," my mom replied, her expression telling me that she didn't believe me.

"No, mom, I promise, I swear, nothing was going on," I kept protesting.

She didn't reply to that. Instead, she said, "I prepared a couple of sandwiches and a glass each of orange juice for both of you."

"Thanks a lot, mom," I said, kissing her on her cheek, "you're the best!"

As soon as she left the room, I heard P'Gxxod's phone ringing. He took his phone out of his pocket to take the call.

"Yes, mom, I'm alright," I heard him say as I set the tray on my bedside table, "no need to pick me up, mom, I can take a cab home from here. Thanks, mom, bye."

"Have you had any breakfast yet?" I asked P'Gxxod.

"Yes, they served me a bowl of hot cereal and a boiled egg and slices of oranges at the hospital," he replied.

"But you must be hungry by now coz it's noontime already," I said, "here, take this ham and cheese sandwich that my mom prepared for us."

"Thanks, Bas," P'Gxxod said, taking the sandwich and biting into it.

I took the other sandwich from the tray and started eating as well.

We both ate our sandwiches and drank our glass of orange juice in silence.

Just as I took my last sip of orange juice, P'Gxxod turned to me and said, "Bas, is Joss your boyfriend?"

I almost choked on my orange juice.

"No, P'Gxxod!" I protested, "he is just a friend! I just hang out with him from time to time. There's nothing going on between us!"

"Has he ever kissed you?"

I couldn't answer. I looked away saying, "please don't ask me questions like that."

"Do you love him, Bas?"

"No, P'Gxxod, it's you I love. P'Joss is really just a friend."

"Does he kiss you like this?"

Without warning, P'Gxxod grabbed my neck and started to kiss me.

He kissed me hard, forcing my lips open with his tongue, seeking entrance into my mouth.

I let him explore me inside for as long and as much as he wanted.

Suddenly, I felt my cheeks getting wet. P'Gxxod was crying!

I broke the kiss,

"P'Gxxod! What's wrong?" I asked, very much alarmed.

He covered his face with his hands.

"It's my fault," he was saying, his face still covered with his hands. "I'm always not able to be with you, Bas, I have other stuff to take care of and Joss is always available for you when you need company."

"No, P'Gxxod, don't say that!" I cried, giving him a tight hug, "it's not your fault. You have a career to take care of."

"But I want to be available when you need company, Bas," he said, removing his face from his hands and looking at me intently.

"Don't worry about it, P'Gxxod," I tried to assure him, "if it's P'Joss you are worried about, let me tell you, he and I have decided to stop seeing each other."

"And why is that?" P'Gxxod asked, unable to believe what I just said.

"Because I told him that it's you whom I love," I replied, hugging him once more.

Suddenly his phone started to ring again. This time it wasn't his mom.

"Yes, Ben," I heard him say.

I looked sharply at him. Who was Ben?

"Yes, we can start at nine tomorrow morning," I heard him say, "okay, thanks I will wait for you."

"Who's Ben?" I asked P'Gxxod right after he cut the call.

"He's my physical therapist," he replied.

"Is he good looking?" I asked with a frown.

He gave me a painful flick on my forehead.

"Don't be jealous. I have eyes only for you," he said, grabbing my neck and kissing me all over again.
