Camp Halfblood Infirmary

Percy, Annabeth, and Nico all sat outside one of the curtained off examination rooms in the infirmary where Will was looking over the child that the crew of the Argo II had brought back from Philadelphia

"They hell happened out there?" Nico asked looking over at Percy and Annabeth after a few minutes of silence from the two demigods

Percy glanced over at Annabeth and motioned for her to start telling the story

"We got to Philadelphia with no problems, not even a single monster sighting the whole flight. Eventually managed to triangulate the general area that the power source was in" Annabeth said, leaning back against the wall

"Once we landed, Percy and I went to go find the house we were looking for while Clarrise, Chris, and Leo patrolled the area for monsters. Eventually, we found the house we were looking for. The kid's mother was home and we managed to convince her to let us come in, but she wouldn't let us see the kid" Annabeth continued

"What's the kid name?" Nico interjected

"Matthew" Percy replied "We didn't get the last name before shit went south"

"Poor kid....what happened?" Nico said glancing over his shoulder at the curtain that separated the sitting area from the examination room

"We had been talking to the mom for about 10 or 15 minutes when Clarrise contacted us over the radio saying that they had been engaged by a large group of monsters and that mode were heading towards the house" Annabeth continued "We tried to get the mom to evacuate with her kid but she was hesitant and the monsters were on top of us before we could convince her that we needed to leave." Annabeth sighed as rubbed her tired eyes

"A mixed group of Hellhounds, Empousas, and Telekhines totaling about 15 or so monsters encircled the house and started trying to break in. Without any magical words, the dam things tore right through the doors, windows, and walls. Annabeth and I tried to hold them off as best we could and we managed to kill most of them, but a hellhound manages to slip by us after an Empousas dropped a jar a greek fire and started a house fire. Annabeth chased the hellhound down the hallway towards the kid's bedroom where the mother had gone while I finished off the last Telekhines." Percy said, picking where Annabeth had left off "I was just about to run down the hallway after Annabeth but the roof collapsed and blocked my path, so I got the hell out of there."

"By the time I got to the kid's bedroom the mother was already dead, the Hellhound that had gotten past us had nearly bitten her clean in two when she tried to protect her kid, she was dead long before I got there," Annabeth said "I killed the hellhound before it could eat the kid, grabbed the kid and ran out the door to the back porch where I meet up with Percy. After that, we retreated back to the Argo 2 and meet up with the others. We manage to get off the ground, but we got chased by Stymphalian birds and Harpies almost all the way back to camp" Annabeth finished

"goddam....monsters going after demigods is nothing out of the ordinary, but that many monsters are usually only seen attacking children of the great three." Nico mused with a concerned look on his face

"Exactly, at first I thought the monsters might be after us, but the reports we got from the half dozen satyrs that disappeared in the past two weeks suggest that those monsters had been in that area looking for this kid for a while" Percy replied

"We've had Satyrs in the Philadelphia area looking for those kids for weeks, there was something hiding that kid from all forms of magical detection. There is no other explanation, someone or something went through a lot of trouble trying to keep that kid hidden. Otherwise, the satyrs or a monster would have found him sooner than we did, we found him mostly through luck and the reports that eliminated large portions of the Philadelphia area." Annabeth said as she stood up and started passing around the room

"If someone was trying to keep this kid hidden why wasn't there any sort of magical wards protecting the house? If I was going to go through that much trouble to hide someone, I would do a lot more than just mask them from magical detection." Nico asked looking up at Annabeth

"I...I don't know, whatever was being used to hide that kid's scent is a class of magic I have never seen before, even the spells protecting Camp Halfblood aren't that good a hiding our scents from monsters, especially when our more powerful demigods are here" Annabeth replied turning around to face Nico

"And then there's Mr.D and Chiron, we all saw how they reacted when they say the kid" Percy interjected

"Yea...I have only seen Chiron that worried a few times and even then it was usually right before the larger battles of the wars. And Mr.D, I have never seen him looked so much as interested in anything to happens in camp, but to see him actually scared has me worried" Annabeth replied as she sat back down and ran her hand through her hair

"Could this kid be something we haven't seen before? Maybe he isn't a demigod at all." Nico mused

"That's a possibility" Percy replied before looking over at Annabeth "Maybe he has something to do with our friends in Brooklyn or Boston?" Percy asked Annabeth who looked back at him with a cross look on her face

"Percy. We agreed not to discuss that when at camp." Annabeth said sternly

"What, what friends in Brooklyn or Boston? What are you two talking about" Nico asked, very much confused and looking from Percy to Annabeth

"I know we did, but it is a possibility," Percy said putting his hands up apologetically

Annabeth rolled her eyes and sighed "You're not wrong"

Nico opened his mouth to speak again but was interrupted by Will pulling back the curtain to the examination room and walking out before closing it behind him.

"The kids fine, surprisingly, considering what he has been through in the past six hours. I gave him a light sedative so he should be asleep for a while" Will said as he turned around to face Percy, Annabeth, and Nico

"Give us some credit, this isn't our first rescue op," Percy said sarcastically as he looked up at will and smirked, trying to fain good spirits

Will just rolled his eyes in response before speaking "Let's move the kid to the room in the big house, let him rest there"

"sounds like a good idea, that's all we can besides wait until we figure out why Mr.D and Chiron are so worried about the kid" Percy replied as the three demigods stood up and Will went back in the examination room and picked up the sleeping child.

As the four demigods walked towards the big house a portal opened up and a group a six heavily armed and armored warriors stepped through. The warriors wore pure white plate armor with a greek style helmets and each carried a sword, a spear, and a shield with the symbol of Olympus emblazoned on the front

"Olympian Royal Guard?" Annabeth said confused as the group slowed down as the warriors approached "what could they be doing here?"

"I fell like we are about to find out," Percy said as he bowed to the warriors, the other demigods the following suit

"You have all been instructed to come to Olympus immediately and to bring the child with you" came a stern male voice from under the helmet of the warrior that lead the group

"Why's that?" Nico asked staring the warrior down

"You question the orders of the Olympian Council son of Hades?" The same warrior asked turning his attention to Nico

"Of course he doesn't sir, we apologize" Annabeth interjected quickly before Nico could speak, giving Nico a stern look

The warrior scoffed and motioned for the group to follow him before turning to the two warriors directly behind him "Torres and Niada, go find Clarrise LaRue and Chris Rodrigez and bring them to Olympus"

"Yes sergeant!" The two warriors replied quickly before turning and walking off towards the cabins

As the four demigods followed the remaining warriors Annabeth leaned over and whispered into Nico's ear "the Olympian Guard are a pain in the ass at the best of times, it's easier just to say 'yes sir' and move on" Annabeth said apologetically

"It's fine" Nico replied "Let's get going"

The four demigods stepped into the portal and were instantly teleported to the Olympian throne room, high above New York City, where the twelve Olympians and dozens of other gods and immortal beings waited for them.
