Jason Grace stood on the reviewing stand as the 6th Cohort marched past on the drill pad. Their boots hit the ground with military precision as they completed the last of their drill maneuvers and came to a stop in front of the reviewing stand.

In the past few years, the 12th Legion had rapidly grown in size and was now almost 400 Legionaries strong. In response to this, the 12th Legion had reorganized, adding a new cohort as well as a Company of Archers and a Cavalry Troop. After the Giant war ended Jason had taken up the role of the Commandant of Training for the Legion, working alongside the Preators Reyna and Frank until they both stepped down from commanding the Legion and began teaching new recruits alongside Jason while attending college in New Rome.

At a command, the Cohort saluted the two young Preators standing next to Jason who proceeded to step down from the reviewing stand and began to move amongst the legionaries, inspecting them. Jason stood lost in thought, blankly gazing out onto the drill pad, and didn't hear the voice calling his name until the person had repeated themselves several times.

"Commandant Grace" The voice called again, snapping Jason out of his trance as he quickly turned around

Drake Hawkins, one of the 12th Legion's messengers, stood in front of him with a folded letter outstretched in his hand "Sorry to bother you sir, but there is a message from Olympus"

Jason shook his head "It's fine Drake... what's the message?" He asked as the 6th Cohort was dismissed and the two Preators began walking back towards the reviewing stand

Drake opened the letter "It's a message from Lord Jupiter sir, the Senior members of the Legion and the senior training cadre are to travel to Olympus this afternoon for an urgent council meeting"

Jason raised his eyebrows in mild surprise, it had been several years since that many demigods had been summoned to Olympus for any reason other than the big council meetings that happened twice a year. Jason got an uneasy feeling in his stomach as he nodded and took the message from Drake "Your dismissed" he told the messenger before turning to face the approaching Preators

"What did Drake want?" asked the female Preator, Tabatha Sadler, who was the senior of the two preators and a daughter of Ceres. Though she hated people calling her by her full name, so everyone just called her Taby, under pain of being punched in the shoulder

Jason held out the letter for her "Lord Jupiter has summonsed all senior members of the Legion to Olympus for a special meeting" Jason shrugged as he thought about it "That will mean the two of you, all the Centurions, as well as my team and I"

Taby read the letter, a worried look on her face "This can't be good" she said, her turning face pale as her co-Preator Carson Ayers, a son of Mars, took the letter and began to read it over himself silently.

"I'm sure it's fine," Jason said reassuringly, despite Taby's gift for administration and skill with a blade, she was very socially awkward and got very nervous around the gods

"I'll gather up the Centurions and let them know what is going on," Carson said "Why don't we all meet at the Portal and go through together?" he suggested. Carson was far more mild-mannered and soft-spoken than most of his siblings, which Jason attributed to Frank taking him under his wing, and acting as a mentor when Carson was still a Centurion.

Jason and Taby both nodded and the three went their separate ways. Jason sent a message to the senior members of the training team before making his way to his small apartment in New Rome. Jason quickly changed into a fresh pair of jeans and a Camp Jupiter shirt. As he got ready to leave Jason happened to glance at the bookshelf in his living room and his gaze landed on one of the photos. It was of the 7, Rachel, Reyna, Thalia, Nico, and Will shortly after the Giant War. Everyone was smiling as they sat on a California beach, having spent the day celebrating Piper's birthday. Jason smiled briefly and stared at Piper in the photo, he missed her every day and wished that he knew what had happened to her. Jason had tried looking for Piper, but her dad had no clue where she had gone and no demigods or nature spirits had seen or heard from her in the decade since she and the others left. Jason stared sadly at the photo for a little longer before sighing and walking away.
