Love For Two

Chapter Seventeen

We leave the hospital, as happy as can be. I still couldn't get over the fact that we were having twins! We decide to go shop for more baby stuff. We picked out some toys and clothes for Elena as well. When we got home, I laid down. I fell asleep while Tanner was trying to get Elena to fall asleep.

After Elena was put in her crib, he walked over to me and laid down next to me. I started to feel pain in my chest, maybe it was heartburn. I walk into the bathroom to find some heartburn medicine. I take some to ease the pain in my chest. I start to get hungry. I walk downstairs to the kitchen to make myself a snack. I ate some leftover pasta we had from Olive Garden.

I walk back up the stairs once I finished eating, more pain came to my chest. I started feeling dizzy and was loosing my balance. I fell down the stairs and never woke up. Tanner heard the noise of me falling. He called my name. I wouldn't answer. He walked into the bathroom, I was not there. He walked down the stairs and saw my breathless body lying on the floor at the end of the stairs.

He runs over to me and starts shaking me. He starts to cry because I won't wake up. He doesn't feel my pulse. He calls 911, telling them that I fell and I'm not breathing and he couldn't find my pulse. The paramedics show up. They pick me up and lay me on a gurney. Tanner kisses my forehead as they put me into the ambulance. Tanner grabs Elena, puts her into her carseat and drives to the hospital.

When they arrive, he asks which room I have been put in. The nurse tells him down the hall. Tanner walks in and sees me asleep. I could hear him cry. He was talking to Elena trying to calm her down from crying. I hate when my baby cries, it makes me sad.

The doctor came in and talked to Tanner. He explained that when I had fallen, I hit my head and that is why I was not waking up. I had a heart attack. I finally woke up to the doctor still talking to Tanner about me. Whatever the doctor told Tanner, made him cry. I didn't know what was going on. Why was I in a hospital bed? Why does my chest and stomach hurt?

The doctor left the room. Tanner walked back over to the chair next to me and started to cry. "Tanner, what's wrong?" Tanner looked up at me and smiled. "Nothing, everything is fine.. I'm glad you're alright." he said. I never liked seeing Tanner cry. "Tanner, there's something going on.. tell me." I said. "The doctor told me what had happen that made you fall and not wake up. When you fell, one of the twins died, it had brain damage." he responded. I started to cry. "Is the other one okay?" I asked. "The doctor said he was going to run more tests to see if the other baby took any damage."

I lost another baby. Why does this happen to me? This is supposed to be my happily ever after.
