"We need to talk." he said to me. I asked him what was going on. "Why didn't you ask me how I felt about this situation?" he looked mad. "It was a conversation between me and your sister first, I am the only one who she'll talk to about what is going on." I replied. I could see his eyes become more focused on the last few words that just came out of my mouth. "What other situation is there?" I could feel my heart stop. I can't tell him Hayley's situation.. not right now. If she found out I told him, she would never talk to me again. "If I tell you you can't tell Hayley or anyone I told you. This has to stay between me and you. Promise?" He looked confused. "Yes, I promise, honey." he replied. "Okay, so Hayley just informed me that she's pregnant and her boyfriend doesn't want her to keep it but she does. We then discussed what her plans were. She told me that she wanted to go to college. I did let her know that I would help her out if that is what she truly wanted." His faced went from confused to concerned real quick.

"What the fuck, Allison!" he yelled. "Don't yell at me, I'm trying to help her out the best that I can think of that can be good for her. I have been in her position and I can help her out. She has even offered to help with our daughter." I was trying my best to persuade him into thinking it was a good idea. "What is so bad about it?" He just stared at me. "What do you think my parents are going to say when they find out she has a kid? Have you thought about that? What do you think they are going to say when they find out you both were keeping that big of a secret from them? You know how my mom is with baby stuff." I was at a lost of words for a minute. I thought about what good can come from this situation. "Hold on let me think for a second." Then it hit me, I walk out of the room to go get Hayley. She walks back into the room with me. She looks scared. "Hayley, don't be mad, but I told Tanner what's going on." She looked mad at me. She gave me the look of "fuck you." Then she looked at Tanner and looked sad. "You're disappointed in me aren't you, Tanner?" She looked like she was going to cry. Tanner walks over to her and gives her a hug. "Listen, I'm not mad, I am disappointed, but it isn't the end of the world." She looked up at him and looked confused. "What do you mean?" she asked. "Well, you at least have aspirations. You know what you want after you graduate high school, a baby doesn't mean your life is over. I know you want to be a mom, you always have. You being a mom just came a little earlier than we all hoped for." He smiled at her. "What do you think mom and dad would say? Do you think they would disown me? Hate me?" She looked like she was about to cry again. Tanner gave her another hug. "No, they wouldn't disown or hate you. They might be a little upset because of the timing, but they wouldn't feel that way. They will eventually get over it, trust me." She looked up at Tanner and smiled at him.

"Can I still stay with you and Allison while I attend college?" she asked Tanner. He smiled and looked at her, "of course you can, Hayley." She had the biggest grin on her face. She looked at the both of us and thanked us. Before she started to walk out of the door, I called her. "Hayley, wait. There is still something I need to talk to you about." She turned around and looked at me confused. "What?" I paused for a moment. "We need to figure out a way to let your parents know that you're pregnant. Me and Tanner will be there right beside you when they find out. I won't let you go through this alone." I reassured her. "How do we do it?" she asked. "I think I have something in mind that would be perfect." I thought about all the baby announcements I remember seeing and wanted to do.

I let her know of some options that I could think of. "What if you make a card?" I asked her. "A card? Are you kidding me?" she gave me a blank expression. "Hear me out. I know it might sound lame, but let me tell you what I'm thinking. What if you get a really cute picture of the both of them together to put on the inside of the card on one side and on the other side you can put the definition of grandparents or you could put, "WHAT ARE GRANDPARENTS? YOU, YOU ARE GRANDPARENTS." She looked at me with a smile on her face. "I think that is actually a good idea and it's cute and creative." We decided to go with that idea. We got the supplies to make the card. She had a few more questions to ask me about pregnancy and motherhood while we were still making the card. We joked around and laughed, It was a really good moment that she'll remember forever.

We end up finishing the card and it looked very cute. Now we just had to figure out the best time to give them the card and hope for the best. We thought about it for a little bit and then we decided that now was a good time to go ahead and give it to them. We walk in the living room where they were both sitting. Hayley and I announced that we had a surprise for the both of them. They looked concerned and happy at the same time. Hayley gave the card to her mom and waited while she opened it.
