It wasn't dark yet when Strange and Stark left. With the plan of escaping the hospital at night and probably migrating to another country to avoid Strange's fury, you wanted to sleep. So you tried. Really. Hard. But it's hard to find peace when your ribs hurt with every breath you take.
You were very close to giving up. Very close. You were a patient person but this was too much to ask. Once again you closed your eyes and tried to take as shallow breaths as possible without suffocating. Quite a challenge. And it took some concentration to do it. When you were sure that you would die before falling asleep a nurse entered your room. There was a warm smile on her face.
Ugh. You didn't want to see another human being today. Not one. Actually, you never wanted to see another human being ever again. Maybe moving to a deserted island would be a great idea. No humans. No one.
Someone would find you.
You sighed. No, not even a deserted island would give you the peace you were searching for. And you were far from getting to such an island. Because, if you didn't want to swin there, you'd have to pay for a flight or a boat and you didn't have the money for that.
"Food?" , asked the nurse bringing you back. Yupp, food. Food is great. You took the plate and stared at the food in front of you. It was pretty... disappointing to say the least.
"You're on a heart friendly diet now, until we know what's wrong with you" , explained the nurse. With a pitiful voice, yes, but you still felt like killing her. Were they going to starve you? You were hungry! You wanted some real food! This was torture! Good thing you weren't planning on staying. Strange would have to face your revenge. And it was going to be horrible.
"And here, this is a sleeping pill. You'll struggle with falling asleep because of the broken rips. This will help" , said the nurse and placed a pill next to your food. Great. You could have used this thing a little earlier. Now it was too late for pills or you would sleep through the whole of the night.
"Starting at 7:30 PM we'll start checking on you on a regular basis. Tomorrow we are going to do an ultrasound of your heart and some other tests. Good night" , and she was gone.
You checked the time. 6:22 PM. Better eat fast and disappear even faster. So you dug in.
You were left hungry. Life wasn't fair. You were perfectly fine, your heart a traitor and Strange on a death penalty. Stark would kill you. It would be just great. You could team up in ... whatever happened in stage 2. With Peter, Strange and the people who's lives you had taken. Super.
Abandoning thoughts of death and destruction because of a severe lack of time, you focused on the task at hand: escaping. There were some things to be taken into account.
1. You had to turn this beeping thing off or it would pierce your and everyone elses ears with this penetrating high pitched beep you knew from movies only. That would definitely bring a doctor in. Or a nurse. Or some other unwanted human. So this was to be avoided. Problem with that was, that you didn't have a cellphone to google this thing or an operation manuel. And you weren't an expert if it came to medical devices. Or any devices in fact. So you had to find another way.
2. You could only move with the speed of a snail because breathing hurt but one millimeter of movement was torture and you were suffering. Getting out of this room through the window would be a tough task. Maybe you should just jump. That would be the fastest way. Problem was, that you didn't know how high you were up.
3. You were wearing a hospital gown. If people saw you, they'd get suspicious. But, to be honest, people tend to get suspicious if they see someone hanging from an open window, no matter what the person is wearing. And that was actually reasonable.
