And so you were taken from your home and brought to a place you didn't want to be at. Someone might even call that kidnapping. But said kidnapping had been a group project. Four against one. You being on the 'one' side.
Being out and about while the pain inside was still boiling hot acid wasn't nice. It actually was the worst. You were used to handling pain all on your own. You were used to solving problems alone. And you preferred that.
Now, with people buzzing around you, making a fuzz, you couldn't turn to healing yourself. You were too busy minding the others. Trying to analyse their every move. Trying to predict their actions. Trying to guess their thoughts. Shitty situation.
And they had drugged you. With pain killers. Because you had replied to them asking if you were in pain with a clear "Yes, excruciating pain.". Before you could clarify that they couldn't possibly do anything about it they had injected you with pain killers. Wow. Great way to solve your problems. Now you probably wouldn't feel it if you were run over but the mental pain was still as strong as ever.
Another big con was, that Strange and Stark had come with you. To the hospital. You didn't know why but they probably were afraid that you'd run. Maybe Tony was still naive enough to believe that you would bring Peter back.
And now you were lying here, a needle in your arm and undergoing an EKG, trying to keep the memories away because if you didn't then there probably would be a nice little flatliner. With Stephen and Stark sitting next to your bed and looking at you with an impressive amount of concern.
"I love how this business meeting turned out" , you told them. Your voice was heavy with sarcasm. Drown the damn world in sarcasm.
Stark smiled a crooked smile. He was a big sarcasm fanboy. And he seemed to be sincerely sorry. And at a loss for words.
"Okay, guys, I am all for silence but I am also trying to keep myself from diving straight into the next memory and trying to keep myself from flatlining like a true professional so you may talk. And since this seems to be clouding your mind anyway, tell me about Peter, the lost son" , you sighed. It wouldn't hurt to listen to them.
You weren't surprised when Stark turned out to be the one willing to speak. He probably was still suffering from being at a loss for words earlier and wanted to cover it up.
"He was great" , he stated, just to break out sobbing. Poor guy, he really must have loved Peter. But crying people didn't keep your thoughts at bay so you had to rudly interrupt the crying session. And Stephen was hugging his boyfriend anyway. He was the one responsible for the tear drying part. You were glad that it wasn't you who had to take care of it. It had been you often enough.
And there came another memory, clear now, hitting you with force.
- A man stumbled into your flat. You sat in your chair, staring at him. Your 'gift' had warned you about him. That he would come. He was thin, too thin. Probably underweight. He was wearing ragged clothes and tears were cascading down his cheeks. He had impressivly blue eyes, black, curly hair and was about thirty.
In his arms he held the moveless body of a little girl. She was dead. You could sense it. And your heart ached. This man looked so desperste. But you didn't know him. That made it easier.
He stumbled through the room until he stood in front of your desk. There he swayed on the spot, the body of this girl pressed aginst his chest, until he collapsed in front of you.
You sat moveless for a second, then you got up to get the man some water. He wasn't unconcious, just exhausted, dehydrated and probably close to starving. When you handed him the water he took it, greedily drinking up. He didn't speak when he gave you the glass back but he didn't have to.
