how to: relax

1. find some super chill music ((there'll be a playlist at the bottom of this, i suggest u listen to every song)) and just sit and listen to every lyric, every beat. i promise, it helps.

2. go for a bath. light some candles, listen to the super chill playlist, and don't do anything in that bath. just lie there, enjoying the moment. don't shave, don't wash ur hair, don't wash ur body. just relax, and enjoy some you time.

3. indulge in something small, but with a lot of sugar. like, a few rows of chocolate, maybe a quarter of a tub of ice cream, maybe just a lollipop. maybe drink a cup of tea with two sugars in, even if you don't take sugar in your tea, or the same with coffee. just give your body that little boost it needs.

4. go to your room, lie down in bed, and just look around your room. look at any posters, pictures, all your possessions. you've decorated this room as a reflection of yourself, and things that you like. think of all the good memories you've had in relation to the things in your room. your room is your haven, your safe place, treat it that way.

5. change what you're wearing, because if you're not relaxed in your current clothing, there is absolutely no reason why you should stay in it. put more layers on, take layers off, go from long sleeves to short sleeves, do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

6. find something that makes you feel safe. for me, i have this absolutely ridiculous tatty little puppy teddy that i've had since i was like two, and i literally cannot sleep without it. it's there, it makes me feel comforted and safe, and i love it to pieces. along side that, i have an app on my kindle that plays fireplace sounds, because that makes me feel warmer, and more relaxed. it's all about finding things that make you feel good. 

7. make the room or yourself smell nicer. i have this little oil thing in my room, that makes the whole space reek of vanila, and i absolutely love it. whenever i feel stressed out, i go in there and just take a minute or two. alternatively, spray your favourite perfume around, burn some insense sticks, i don't know, just do whatever you like best. lavender, in particular, is good with stress relief and unwinding. 

8. cuddle with something. it can be whatever, seriously, your pet, your parent, your best friend, your pillow, a cushion, a stuffed animal, an item of clothing, just legit fucking anything. just, cuddle the shit out of it. you'll feel so much better, i promise you.
