"Yeah. We should totally hang out, just the two of us."
"Sounds like a plan to me."
"I'll pick you up at 8?"
"8 works."
"Alright see you then."

The phone hung up and they clock fast forwarded to 8, because that's what dreams do.

There was a knock at the door and I smiled before getting out of my bed and floating down the stairs to open it.

However, when the door opened and the person was standing there, the knocking didn't stop. The person started talking and it was the sound of knocking on a door instead of words.

"What the hell?" It was at this point that I realized that the knocking probably wasn't a part of the dream and I began to wake up.

I groggily pulled myself out of the bed and slid on my hoodie because I didn't have a shirt on and whoever it was probably didn't want to see my boobs at two in the morning.

It was probably Emma. She probably locked herself out of her apartment again and needed to crash here until the landlord could go unlock her apartment.

"Emma, you know the key is under the mat." I said, opening the door. "You're not Emma."

I closed the door and blinked a couple of times before opening the door back again.

"Melody, what are you doing here?" I asked, stepping out of the way so she could come in.

"I ran away."

"You did what?" I asked, slamming the door behind her and walking with her into the living room.

"I ran away." She said dropping her bags on the ground and turning to look at me.

"Yeah I got that. But why?"

"It's a long story." She said, sitting on the couch.

"It's too early for this." I said, rubbing my face with my hands. "Go to sleep, we'll talk in the morning."

She nodded and made herself comfortable while I walked back upstairs to my room.

.......................

I sat on my couch, starring at my sister, wondering why in the hell she was in my living room in California. It's currently 7am which means she's been here for roughly five hours but I couldn't deal with her last night so I told her to go to sleep and we'd talk in the morning, well it's morning.

"You can stop starring at me now." Melody said, stretching her legs out in front of her on the ground.

"I'm just trying to figure out what possessed you and made you run away from home and across the country." I said, as calmly as I could.

"Oh right," she said scratching her next. "That."

"Yeah," I said crossing my arms. "That. Explain."

"Well you remember mom telling you I had a boyfriend, right?" She said, scratching her arm. I nodded and she took a deep breath. "Well basically mom ca-"

My phone started ringing and she stopped talking. I picked it up and it was our mom.

"Don't worry, I'm getting ready to yell at her for you." I said instead of answering normally.
"So She is there?"
"Yeah. And I plan on putting her on the first plane back out there." I said, glaring at melody who was shaking her head at me and giving me puppy eyes.
"Actually, I think it's best if she stays there for a while. I can't promise things are going to be civil between us if she comes back home right now."
"What happened that it's that bad?"
"Why don't you let Melody tell you."
"Okay, I love you."
"I love you too. Bye."

I hung up the phone and continued glaring at Melody.

"What did you do that was so bad that, not only did you run away from home, but mom doesn't think it's good for you to come back for a while?"

"Wait, she's kicking me out?" Mel asked, tears brimming in her eyes, but I really didn't have much sympathy for her at the moment.

"No, you'll get to go back once she cools down, probably." I said shrugging. "Now what the hell did you do?"

"Okay. But you have to promise you won't freak out." She sighed.

"I'm not making any promises I can't keep." I said.

"Just promise." Melody begged.

"Fine. I promise not freak out if you just tell me."

"Okay." She said closing her eyes and taking a deep breath. "Mom kind of walked in on me taking a pregnancy test."

I made a promised not to freak out, and I rarely break promises. But breathing in and out and thinking calm thoughts wasn't helping me at this point.

I jumped up off the couch and I'm pretty sure there was steam coming out of my ears.

"You were doing what?!?" I yelled at her.

"You promised not to freak out."

"Yeah, well that was before my baby sister told me that she's been having sex. What the hell melody, you're 15."

"So? How old were you when you started having sex?"

"18."

"Oh."

"Yeah. Oh. What could you possibly have to gain by having sex at 15 Mel?"

"Technically we were 14 the first time it happened."

"That doesn't help your situation Mel!"

She shrunk down into a ball in the floors and he face fell.

"What did the test say?" I asked, calming down and sitting back on the couch.

"I didn't get a chance to look at it before she ripped it out of my hands and threw it in the trash can."

I sighed and ran my hands through my hair.

"Get your shoes." I said, standing up and walking toward the front door.

"Where are we going?" She asked confused.

"Jesus Christ." I mumbled under my breath. "Read the room Melody, what were we just talking about?"

"We were talking about not knowing what the- oh, gotcha." She said tying her shoe.

For the sake of all parties involved, I hope that the test is negative.
