"Mel, you can't leave and not name the babies." I said, looking at my sister who, after 15 hours post-partum, still hadn't named either of her kids.

"You name them then." She sighed, basically ignoring me and watching whatever was on the crappy tv. I rolled my eyes and took my phone out, going to my own personal baby name list and looking for ones I would be willing to give away.

"Analise and Alexandria?"

"No."

"Everleigh and Eden?"

"Gross."

"Keegan and Loraina?"

"Absolutely not."

"Rowen and Rhea?" I was really running out of options here.

"Yeah. Those sound good."

"Okay good. Now middle names."

"You pick them."

"Rowen Kathleen and Rhea Kennedy?" I suggested.

"No, the other way around."

"Rowan Kennedy and Rhea Kathleen?"

"Yeah. Those are good."

"Alright, I'm going to go get the nurse and have her bring the birth certificates in."

..............

"Kamden just texted me and said he wants to come see the girls, what if his mom tries to take them?" Melody asked, holding Rhea closer to her chest.

"That's why there's hospital security," I said, zipping Rowen back into her sleeper. "Tell him to come but if his mom or dad come they aren't allowed into the room or they'll be escorted out."

"Plus me and Grayson are here and we'll guard the door." Myles said standing up from the floor. "Right dude?"

"Yeah." Grayson said, walking over and stealing Rowen from me, not really paying attention to what Myles was saying.

"I'm telling him he can come but his mom and dad have to stay away."

.............

"No mom. They're doing fine." I said, panning the camera around to where the twins were asleep in their hospital bassinet.
"I can't believe she was that far along when she told us all. Where did I go so wrong?"
"You can't blame this one on yourself. You did everything right."
"I even keep a community box of condoms in the bathroom so shit like this doesn't happen but here we are."
"Again. This isn't your fault."

One of the girls started crying and I looked over at Melody who was still asleep. I sighed and propped my phone up against the wall and walked over to pick her up from the bed so she wouldn't wake her sister.

"Which one is that?" Mom asked.
"This one is Rowen because she has a head full of hair. Rhea is bald." I grabbed a bottle from the drawer under the baby bed and shook it before giving it to her.
"Did Melody even try to breastfeed?" I looked between Rowen, my mom and Melody and sighed.
"She won't even hold them for more than five minutes, mom." I whispered so I wouldn't wake her up. "I picked their names, she just agreed with them."
"I'm really worried about here."
"She asked me to step out of the room for a minute when Kamden showed up. I should have listened in at the door to see what they were talking about. I have a very strong feeling that she's going to run."
"Well, she's ran before."
"I just don't know what's going to happen to them," I said motioning to the baby in my arms, "if she does."
She sighed and looked away from whatever she was paying attention to to look directly into the camera.
"You may have to be prepared to take them."
"What? Me?"
"Well I can't take them. I'm not in good enough health to raise a newborn, let alone two."
"So I'm just expected to take them. I'm barely 20."
"That's five years older than I was when I raised you. And this is only if she runs. Let's not assume the worst of your sister. She may just be tired."
"I guess you're right."

......................

"Hey Mads." I heard someone whisper, bringing me out of my half sleep.

"Yeah."

"Are you awake?" This time the voice was clearer, it was melody.

"I am now." I said sitting up and turning towards her hospital bed. "What's up?"

"When the nurse brings in the birth certificates for me to officially sign, she's also going to bring in another stack of papers." She said looking down at her hands.

"What kind of papers?" I asked, scooting towards the edge of the cot they brought for me to sleep in.

"I was you to be their legal guardian. I'm still going to be around to help you take care if them, but I don't want to be there mom. I can't be the mom they need."

"Melody-"

"I know. I know I'm asking a lot, but I've been thinking about this for a while now."

"I can't just... take your kids from you." I said, still in shock.

"Please Mads. You've already bonded with the. And you love them, I-I look at them and feel nothing. At least nothing like a mother should."

I sighed at looked at her. "Give me a minute." I stood up out of the chair and walked out of the room, down the hall to where Grayson and Myles were sitting in the waiting room.

"Can we come back yet?" Myles asked, both of them standing up.

"Yeah go ahead bug." I said crossing my arms. "Gray, can I talk to you for a second?"

He nodded and sat back down and I sat beside him.

"What's up?" He asked, rubbing my shoulders, probably noticing how tense I was.

"She's giving them to me." I mumbled.

"I'm sorry, what?" He asked, in just as much shock as I was.

"Rhea and Rowen, she's giving them to me. She doesn't want to be their mom." I said, my voice shaking because I was on the verge of tears.

"I mean, you have to, right?" He said, pulling me in closer to him.

"If I don't, god knows what will happen to them, but I can't raise two fucking newborns by myself." I sighed, running my hands through my hair.

"We'll figure it out."

"We?" I asked looking at him confused.

"Yeah," he smiled shyly. "We."

"Grayson, I can't as-"

"You don't have to, I'm volunteering."

"Are you sure?" I asked, very skeptical.

"Absolutely." He said kissing the top of my head.

"I guess I better go sign those papers then."
