"So, you don't have feelings for Grayson?" I asked Amelia as we walked back to the parking lot above the beach.

"God no." She said laughing. "He's like a brother to me. I've known the twins since kindergarten."

"So you guys aren't dating or have any thoughts of dating in the future?"

"Seriously, he didn't tell you that we're not dating?" She asked, stopping short. I shook my head no at her.

"Hey dumbass, you didn't tell your girl space friend that you almost kissed that you're single?" She asked, turning around to look at Grayson. He shrugged and scratched his neck.

"She didn't ask." He said. "So it must of slipped my mind."

"Stupid." Amelia mumbled under her breath, causing me to laugh.

"And you don't have any feeling for him?"

"Of course not." She said, "and besides, I have a boyfriend."

"Well, why didn't you just start with that?" I asked, "it would have saved us this whole conversation."

"I guess it's just weird to say out loud. We've been keeping it really quite and haven't really told than many people."

"Well I'm honored." My phone buzzed in my pocket and I grabbed it to see who it was

I rolled my eyes and put my phone back in my pocket.

"Okay, well my car is up here in this lot." Amelia said stopping. "It was nice to finally meet you, we just definitely hang out sometime."

"Yeah totally." I said, smiling.

"I'll get your number from Grayson?" She asked. "I'd get it now but my phones dead."

"Yeah, that works."

It took us longer to walk back than it did for my to walk down to the pier. I guess because this time I wasn't walking with a purpose and just for leisure.

We got back to the car about 15 minutes after I last talked to Melody. And the look on her face immediately filled me with disappointment.

"What did you do?" I asked, not even surprised that she probably let my car die.

"I don't know. I was just minding my business, and I had the car cranked so it wouldn't run your battery out, and then it started to sputter but I figured you guys would be back soon so I just turned it to where it wasn't cranked but still had power and then it kind of just cut off and wouldn't cut back on."

"It shouldn't have done that if all you were doing was charging your phone." I said, opening the door and trying to start the car. "You did turn the air off when you turned it back, right?"

Silence. I groaned and hit my head against the steering wheel.

"Melody, you can't run the air off the battery."
