Chapter 6: Confused.
Wow, Matt actually stopped me.
"Hey, um, my parents aren't here yet, so if your parents aren't here, do you want to talk or something," he asked shyly.
"Um, sure if my parents aren't here yet," I replied not knowing what to say.
He walked with me as I went to check if my mom was here yet.
Spoiler alert, she wasn't here. How surprising, she's always late.
Whatever, at least I have someone to talk to.
Matt and I sat on a bench that was outside, waiting.
"So, what school do you go to?" He asked me, quietly.
"Oh, I go to Foxtail High School, what about you?"
"Well, I go to Lincoln High," he said. "Um, what's your favorite color?"
"Whoa, are we playing twenty questions or something, because it's getting real deep with these questions," I laughed while dramatically fanning myself, then continued. "My favorite color is red."
"Mine is blue," he laughed.
God. His laugh is adorable.
WHAT AM I THINKING?!
I barely know this kid, ugh my stupid little heart.
"Anyways, it looks like a car is pulling up, it might be your ride," he sighed.
"Oh, it is my ride. Do you have a ride?" I asked him, looking concerned.
"Well, I'm sure someone'll show up at some point," he choked out sadly. "Scott will take care of me if they don't show up, just go, be with your happy family." His voice cracked when he said that sentence. I knew something was up, but I didn't have enough confidence to say anything.
"Um, okay. Bye Matt," I said looking him in his pale blue eyes, concern plastered everywhere on my face.
I started walking away, but I gave him one last look, and his eyes were concentrated on his feet. There was a disappointed look on his face. What just happened?
I jumped in my mom's car, taken aback by the obvious. I shook my head in disbelief, then looked up at my mom, and shot her the fake smile she always believes. The thing is, I barely have to use it, but now I'm just confused. I guess I'll just have to find out what's going on next week.
"How was tennis, honey?" My mom asked me.
"It was great," I smiled, trying to empty my racing mind.
"What did you do?"
"Well, uh...tennis stuff," I laughed.
"Like?"
"Like serves, footwork, and playing out points," I said.
"Oh that sounds fun!" My mom said happily.
After our little conversation, I turned on the radio, and tried to empty my stupid, little, over complicated head.
