Chapter 28: How It All Played Out.

I can't get it off my mind.

It won't stop playing in my head.

Why won't it just leave?

Why?!

"You better not screw this up for me," Dylan suddenly looked up at Matt.

"You don't even like her!" Matt yelled at him.

My heart was suddenly crushed. What does Matt mean by that?

"I like her more than ever! She's one of the most amazing girls I've ever met!"

"Then why did you agree to the pact?" Matt suddenly seemed scarily cold towards his adoptive brother.

"I'm sorry," Dylan croaked out, looking at me, and ran away.

I watched with tiny tears peeking out of my eyes as Dylan just got back in his car and drove away, leaving my skates in the middle of the parking lot.

I watched with bigger tears peeking out of my eyes as Matt ran into the parking lot to grab them.

I watched with big tears dripping out of my eyes as Matt ran back and gave them back to me.

I watched and listened with big tears streaming out of my eyes as Matt told me everything.

"I know you must be confused and angry as sad all at once, but I'm here to explain it all, I promise," Matt whispered to me, his voice breaking at little. "This all started with one of your soft spots, Cameron."

"What started?" my voice broke as I cried out to him.

"That's what I'm here to tell you. I'm here for you, okay?"

"Then just tell me already!" I felt a burning tear quickly stream down my already red and puffy face.

"Okay. Do you remember why Cameron originally went to jail?" I nodded, not even wiping the boiling tears anymore. "Well, one of the guys killed was Zach's cousin, Connor."

I felt a magnetic force keep pulling my eyes to my own feet rather than the boy standing in front of me.

"Zach wanted revenge, in more ways than the death sentence. He admitted that he had had a small crush on you before. He later decided to come up with a little deal with Dylan, who actually really, really liked you at first, and I guess still does... He liked you so much that he originally called dibs, but he gave into Zach's offer. You know how Zach can be sometimes," he cleared his throat. "They agreed to have Dylan go out with you a few times and steal your heart, then unexpectedly dump you and break your heart. I didn't want you to get hurt so I, well I didn't do a very good job of that, did I?" he looked at his feet.

"Why did you come help me?"

"Thing is...thing is I," he paused, taking in a few shaky breaths and looking back up at me. "Thing is I...I think I kind of...well, I like you. You know, in the like like way."

"You do?" I silently giggled through the tears at his way of admitting this to me.

"I feel like I have for so long and I can't believe I'm finally telling you now," he sadly chuckled, more to himself than me. "But what matters is that you know that I like, no, love everything about you, whether you call it a flaw or a perfection, I love it.

"God, it feels so good to finally say this to you. In all honesty we've already been through so much together after only a few months, and I think I've liked, no loved, you for almost half of it. It'd be quite amazing if you didn't feel the same way somewhere inside, because for some reason there is just this wired connection between us. You feel it too, right?"

I looked up, into his eyes, "Crazy thing is, I really do feel it too."

Everything suddenly became clear to me. He was the one. He was always the one.

Our little connection pulled his hand up to my chin in order for him to guide what happened next. His eyes and mine were unable to leave eachother until our lips met, then they closed. Suddenly, today had become one of the best days ever. The aura that was drawing us together never stopped even after the kiss ended.

Our eyes never broke contact.

Our breaths were in sync.

Our hearts were skipping beats, together.

Our hands' found a way to easily fit perfectly together.

Our minds were both filled with similar thoughts, which were soon spoken out loud.

"Faith Taylor, I love you."

"Matt Wilson, I...I love you too," I looked up into his eyes. "Please promise this will never end."

"I promise," he held my gaze. "And I really mean it this time."

•••You Promised•••

Thanks for reading my book all the way to the end!! I had a really fun time writing it, and I hope you liked reading it. I've easily fallen in love with these characters already, so I will, most likely, be writing some sort of sequel including them again.

What would be Faith and Matt's ship name tho, like honestly? Fatt? Maith? They both sound pretty dumb 😂😂

Anyways I hope you enjoyed this book and please read my other works when I wrote them, because why not?

I love you all,

Meg-pin 😝
