Chapter 14: Let's Throw Paper Balls At Them!

All I had to do was make sure Jacob didn't see anything. Cameron's friend Evan came over to me with a confused look on his face.

"Hey Peachy, why do you look so sad and worried?" he asked me, using the nickname he has called me ever since we first met.

"Well...its just," I attempted to explain.

"Hey, hey, it's ok if you aren't able to talk. You can wait until you are ready to say anything."

How is he so sweet?

"Thanks Evan," I smiled. "It means a lot that you are being so nice to me."

"No problem, peachy," he smiled.

We walked away from each other, and I saw that Jacob had noticed the boy and Jenn swallowing each other against a wall. I cursed under my breath, as Jenn was sobbing her eyes out. I ran over to comfort her, but I was hesitant when I saw that the boy she was kissing was someone I knew.

It was Matt.

My best friend was making out with the guy from the corner.

I walked up to them, and attempted to comfort Jenn. My eyes almost met Matt's, but I couldn't look at him. He just ruined her relationship.

"Faith, I didn't---"

"Shut up, Matt!"

"It's not my fau--"

"I don't care."

"But it's--"

"Didn't I tell you to shut up?"

"It's not his fault," Jenn said, wiping her nose.

"What?"

"It's mine," she admitted.

"How did this? How did you? Why did you? How?" I stuttered endlessly until Matt cut me off.

"We've been doing this for a long time. it was our own little secret. We would meet up with each other just to do that, and I just couldn't help myself when I saw her."

"No! It was the other way around, it was my fault, Matt!" Jenn forced, her face still red and puffy from tears.

"Jenn?" I looked at her.

"Yeah?"

"Promise me this," I said. "Never do something like this again."

"I promise."

"You too, Matt," I said, directing my attention towards him.

"Okay, I promise."

"Let's go, Faith. Bye Matt."

"Bye," he added. "By the way, Dylan is here if you want to talk to him."

"Okay," I replied.

4th quarter will end in 5 minutes, and we are currently winning 49-38. Jenn finally got over what happened earlier, and was having the time of her life. Since she was now up for anything, we decided to walk around to the others team's bleachers. We could maybe even throw paper balls at them!

Ok, that is a little bit too harsh, so maaaaybe not that one.

While we were walking over there, I saw a glimpse of a familiar face by the concessions stand. His eyes caught mine, and he smiled. Dylan walked towards me confidently, and made a dumb comment on the jersey I was wearing and we laughed.

"Sooooo, does this mean you have a boyfriend or something?" he softy asked after we were done laughing.

"Well...not exactly. He just kind of asked me to wear it to the game, and I said yes, soooo yeahh," I said awkwardly. "So, uh, what brings you to the this football game, Mr. Homeschooled?"

"I drove Matt here," he replied. "And I wanted to check out the school id be going to next year,"

"Oh yeah, Matt..." I mumbled. "Waaait does this mean you're coming to Fox-Tail next year?!" I asked excitedly.

"Yeah," he smiled, ignoring my comment on Matt.

Suddenly, Jenn showed up, and broke the silence by jumping on my back yelling, "HAAAAY!!" Dylan laughed at my confusion when I attempted to shake her off.

"God, why do you have to have vice-grips for fingers?!?"

"I don't think he can hear you. Maybe I could go up there and ask him for you," Jenn smirked.

"Gee thanks, my wishes will all come true when I finally know the answer," I replied sarcastically. "By the way, Dylan, this is Jenn, Jenn, this is Dylan."

"Nice to meet you," Dylan politely smiled.

"Ohhhh so this is the guy--"

"Yes, enough of introductions! Let's go do something!" I said, cutting off Jenn in a shouty voice while Dylan burst out laughing.

After awhile of talking more, we walked around the places people were allowed. A few times we passed Matt, who in which was sulking around, often seen pinching the spot on his nose between his eyes. Dylan suggested talking to him, but Jenn and I mentioned that that wouldn't be a very good idea.

After just hanging around with them for the last little bit of the game, our players left the field, winning 49-40 They ran off the field through the tunnel the cheerleaders create with their flimsy little arms. I don't understand how it is possible for them to make those pyramids being as out-of-shape as our school's cheerleaders are.

As soon as Cameron got out of the tunnel, he immediately started looking for someone. I hoped it was me that he was looking for, and it turned out that it was. We took a quick victory selfie, and we also has Jenn take a picture of us with his arm around my shoulder. The feeling of his touch sent shivers down my spine, but in a good way. I felt something I had only felt once before with someone I met when I was young. At that moment I realized that I wanted this moment to last forever, but alas, nothing tends to do what I want it to.

The picture was done being taken way too fast, and my shoulder felt cold after the task was done.

"...totally hang out more," I tuned back in, and heard Dylan say that.

"Yeah, that would be really fun," Jenn smiled, so I just went with it, smiling along with her.

"Thanks for the ride Cameron!" I said getting out of his car. The ride home went smooth, if you call scream/singing popular songs out of tune all the way home, then yes, it was smooth. We had a huge amount of fun, and I can't wait to have more moments like that one.

I went inside and up to my room, and instantly fell asleep. If only this night had lasted longer...
