The Life of Peter Parker

The one with the Attempt [Part 2]

Peter has been living with Tony for 3 months now. Everything was as good as it could be. Peter was obviously still sad and Tony would often catch him just laying on his bed and staring off into space but Peter at least went to school and sometimes he went out as spiderman. Of course Tony was worried about him but he couldn't do anything. He couldn't bring his aunt back so he tried his best to be the person that Peter could trust. So he figured out something to distract the boy for at least a few hours.

"Hey Peter?", Tony asked. "Yeah Mr. Stark?", Peter answered back. "What would you say if I told you that at this exact moment all the Avengers are a floor above us?", Tony asked still working on a piece not looking up at Peter. "I would tell you you're completely nuts. And then I'd probably faint. You know me", Peter laughed out. At that Tony looked up fron his stuff and put on a smile. "Ok bambino I need you to not faint right now. All the Avengers are a floor above you". "Yeah right". Tony let FRIDAY show him the camera footage from above. "Mr. StArK", Peter yelled. "Come on. Up we go", Tony smiled and dragged his kid upstairs.

"Does anybody know why we're actually here?", Steve asked skeptically. "Yeah. I don't think he wanted us to fly all the way from Wakanda for a nice 'get-together-dinner'", Shuri said. "Come on guys. Maybe he really just wants that. We've all been distant lately", Bruce added.

"Nice theories everybody. But tonight is about you meeting someone really important to me. Say hello to my- uhm... the kid. His name's Peter and he's living with me for some time. Maybe forever.... Not the point. Some of you might already know him as spiderman", Tony said. Some people smiled and some people, those who were somehow included in the civil war, gasped.

"Queens?", Steve asked. "Yap. That's me", Peter smiled shyly. "Tony what the-", Steve growled at Tony but was interrupted by someone else. "15?!? Tony? I threw cars at a 15 year old?", Wanda screamed. Tony got quiet and said: "Well you see he's-". "I don't care. I threw cars at a 15 year old!" Tony got quiet and let them blow off some steam.

Meanwhile Peter was slowly backing into a corner covering his ears. “Ah shit“, he whispered. Nobody heard, except of course Tony. “Hey, hey, hey quiet everyone“, Tony whisper-yelled. Confused stares met Tony but he just pointed to his kid. “He gets that sometimes. You know he has super enhanced senses so sometimes it gives him a little sensory overload“, Tony explained.

From then on they tried talking at a low volume, careful to not hurt the spiderling. They talked for about an hour and became good friends with Peter until the doorbell rang.

“Hey guys, I'm sorry I'm late. Cassie had a little ballett show in school so... What are the big news? Why are we all here“, Scott's voice boomed through the whole room. “Oh yeah um... Scott meet Spiderman, Peter meet Antman“, Tony greeted cheerfully but Peter just looked. And Scott stared. And the whole room was a bit uncomfortable until...

“Hey Peter nice to meet you. I'm so glad to finally meet the hero behind the mask. Big fan. Welcome to the bug club“, Scott said as if he'd never seen the kid before in his life. He knew all too well who he was but for the sake of the little one he decided to keep his mouth shut for now.

“H-Hey uhmm... Scott. Really nice to meet you too. Uhh.. yeah wuhu Team Bugs“, Peter stumbled over his words. He wasn't quite sure how to react to all of this. Did he not remember him?

“Soooo uh Peter could I talk to you for a second. You know... little bug-talk“, Scott laughed. “Oh, Uh-yeah sure“, Peter stuttered. They made their way into Peter's bedroom.

Scott immediately began to talk: “So I know you probably don't want talk about what happened and I understand completely. But I'm here for you if you need someone. I don't know how much you've told the others but guessing from your shock when I started to talk, you probably didn't say anything at all so...“. Peter looked at him funny and for a second Scott wondered if he said the wrong thing but then Peter surprised him by engulfing him in a hug. “Thank you so so much. Without you I-“, Peter started but Scott stopped him: “Stop, just... we've all been there at some point. But you have a new family now. People that care about you so don't throw that away okay?“.

Peter nodded. They waited for a few seconds before they went to the others again. All were expecting them already. “So what did you steal my kid for?“, Tony asked not realising what he said. “Oh just some bug talk and- wait... did you just say YOUR kid?“, Scott exclaimed. Everybody was amused at Tony's bewildered face. “What? No! I said T H E kid not MY kid...“, Tony stumbled out.

Peter interrupted “Hey, hey calm down Mr Stark. Or uhmm- Dad...“. Peter smiled at Tony and Scott smiled at Peter, happy to have been at the right place to the right moment.
