The one with the Message

Things have been hard for Peter after everything that happened with Thanos. School started again and his life was slowly going back to normal. Well... as normal as it could be.

The last months he spent either at home with aunt May, in his room with Ned, occasionally with MJ or at a small lab with Harley, who he had grown close to after the funeral. He spent the months with the people he loved. He even met Morgan who he treated like a sister. She really was.

It was a normal day at school again for Peter. Boring class. Until it wasn't. In the middle of Spanish class Harley knocked on the door. To say Peter was surprised would be an understatement. “Hello, I'm Harley Keener. Is Peter Parker here? I need to talk to him asap“, Harley said in a very formal tone. “Harley? What are you doing here? Did something happen? Are you okay?“, Peter asked worried. He stood up from his chair to give him a hug. “Yeah everything's fine I guess. Pepper came up to me today and asked me if I could give you something because it's on my way home anyway. So here, open it. It's important“, Harley answered. Peter took the weird cube, then he turned to his friend and asked:“ You're leaving already? I'm gonna miss you, buddy. By the way.. What is that?“

Harley let out a sigh. God he hated to see his best friend sad and that's what he was gonna be in a few minutes. “Yeah I'm leaving but I'll come back next month. I still got a job to do. Anyway that thing is from someone and you might want to look at it now“ “Well who's it from?“ “Tony“

The whispers started as soon as the words left his mouth. 'Tony Stark? Why Peter? Did he really know him? Maybe he didn't lie? So sad what happened isn't it? Tony was a great man'. Peter didn't hear them. He was staring at the cube. He didn't want to know what was in there. “Harley. I can't take it. I-I just can't. Give it back to Pepper or keep it. I don't care. It hurts“, Peter said with a shaking voice. “Peter, we all got one. Pepper, Rhodey, Happy, Morgan, Me and You. We watched them as soon as they got delivered today. You know that's part of the reason why I'm here. It's a hologram. You need to watch it. But since I know you wouldn't, I came here so we could watch it together“, Harley responded. He snatched the cube out of Peter's hand. “NO- w-wait. Please I can't“, Peter begged. Harley gave him a pityful look:“ I'm sorry but I promised them to make you watch“.
And then it all started.

“Hey kid, if you see this I'll be gone. If you wondered why you get this so late... Well I wanted you to get over it so you can process what I'm saying. First of all, I want you to have my lab. I trust you with it because you're gonna turn everything to something good in there. Now that that's settled I'm gonna tell you why whatever happened, happened.

God, I'm getting emotional without even facing you... So, I found it. The resolution. Time travel. And I would love to share it with you because, you know, its ground breaking. I turned the Avengers down. They wanted me to save the universe and i said no because I now have a family. I have my daughter, Morgan, something tells me that you and her would get along pretty well, and me and Pep got married. i wish you could've been there. Anyway... I saw the picture, you know, the internship one and I just.. I couldn't get the thought out of my head that if I wouldn't help, if I didn't even try, so many people wouldn't get their children back, their families... And mine? Well my family wouldn't be complete without you. You made me a better person. Before all of this started I was an alcoholic but you made me quit and before that mess Thanos made I.. well I still have nightmares of you on titan, miles and miles away from home in your suit... god kid, the panic on your face and the pain... I knew for sure that your's hurt the most. Stupid accelerated healing. So I wanted you to know that when you get this, I'm gone. I know I already said it before but I want you to have my lab. Take what you want and do whatever you'd like. I know there are so many other smart people out there but I've created a lot in those five years and I know that only you are going to turn it into something good, something pure, something to help people, 'cause that's what you always did. Fight for the people you love. You inspired me to be better. So for your future life, don't think of me as your hero, your mentor, see yourself as mine. See- “Daddy what are you doing? Who are you talking to?“
“morgan how did you get down here?“
“Mommy let me down, she said she needed to make some phonecalls“
“Oh okay honey, I'll be up soon, just-“
“Are you talking to him,daddy?“
“yeah..“
“Is he gonna be home soon?
“I dont know sweety, I dont know..“
“But you're gonna get him back. Peter right?“
“Yeah. I'm gonna try my best“
“And then you'll take him home with us and the nice lady too!! What was her name again?? Mary?Mandy?“
“May, honey, her name's May“
“Oh yeah, May and then we're gonna be a big family. We're gonna be happy and we're gonna play. aaah im so excited. Is he my brother? Wait I don't care if he is or not. He will be. Oh and do you think he will mind me calling him brother. You said he's the nicest person out there but do you think he's gonna like me?“
“Oh I know he's gonna love you, hon“
“Really? Oh I'm so excited for my big brother“
“Yeah. your big brother... You know what? I have to talk to him alone for a second. Do you mind getting all the ingredients for our special dinner? Mommy's gonna love it and we get to cook. FRIDAY's gonna help you okay? I'll be right up. Love you tons“
“Okay. I love you 3000 dad“

So yeah, that's her. You heard her. You're part of the family. My family. You always were and you always will be, even if I'm not gonna be there. You take good care of her and you stay the person I so admired. Be the Kid from Queens that I grew to love. My kid. I love you 3000, son“

The hologram faded and Peter broke down. He wouldn't have ever in his life guessed that Tony felt that way, too. He was happy and sad at the same time. And he knew what he had to do. He protected the ones he loved and the the ones who needed to be protected. He wouldn't let his dad down.
