(I saw this while browsing KaiShin fan art and died laughing, poor Kaito.)

The magician and the detective had managed to find a town - near Metropolitan Tokyo, and decided to stay there and gather information about this new universe. It had taken them a couple hours to get there after Shinichi had gotten over his mental breakdown. They learned that it was called Kunigigaoka, and that it was a small town west to Tokyo. Shinichi, luckily, had what he called pocket change, and was able to rent a small apartment room.

"Shinichi, we need a place to stay. Do you have any money that might help with the rent?"

Shinichi frowned, sticking his hand in one of his pockets and pulled out a wallet. "I have some pocket change, if it helps."

Kaito grabbed the wallet and flicked through the bills. "...Shinichi is this not pocket change."

He looked confused. "Yes it is. When Kaa-san leaves for America after her visits she hands me a slightly larger amount, saying 'have some pocket change'."

Kaito looked at him incredulously. "This is more than my entire savings!" He protested, before sighing and renting an apartment. 'Damn rich kids.'

After that whole ordeal, they settled into their new apartment - basically just rearranging the furniture and setting up the internet so that their history and what they were doing couldn't be tracked by anyone. Then they went shopping. When they passed by the seafood section in the store, Kaito death-stared down the dead fish while hiding behind his annoyed boyfriend. When they got back, it was nighttime. And when Kaito looks out on their balcony up at the night sky, he notices the moon - or the lack of a whole one, to be specific.

"Shinichi!" Kaito calls, mystified and slightly disturbed at the moons current state. "What is it now Kaito?" A tired detective called out to his lover, walking tiredly towards where he was standing. "The moon is in pieces." Shinichi looks up at the sky, and noticing that yes, the moon looks like it had been blown apart. Now awake, the detective narrowed his eyes at the scene, and then whirled around to make a beeline towards the newly bought computer. Pulling up a few articles on the subject, he pulled out a fresh notebook and a pen and began taking notes.

Kaito, knowing that Shinichi would eventually figure out his famous 'one truth', decided to go practice his magic. Luckily when he fell through he was in his Kaitou Kid suit, which held all his pranking gadgets, most of what he used on a daily basis. The purchases he'd had to make in that regard had been few, much to his delight.

Shinichi pored over everything and anything related to the incident. In his time as a detective, he had realized that in order to gain some more sensitive information, he had to learn to hack into things. He couldn't keep relying on Haibara, so he decided to take some lessons from the Internet, and if he was lucky, the miniature scientist herself. After getting what he could from reporters and some classified files and after eliminating any non-truths, he scanned his list of compiled information. He frowned at the meager amount of information.

Date: March xx, 20xx (I couldn't find the specific dates sorry) - The moon exploded. Same day, near same time, Lab owned by Yanagisawa exploded, test subject escaped, scientist Yukimura dies. Yanagisawa goes missing, Yukimura's sister takes a vacation on her acting. Coincidence?Bright light before explosion, blinding. No rockets or anything flying up at the time. Happened at night.

Shinichi knew that the laboratory incident and the explosion were connected. The death of the scientist was likely an accident, as the building had been destroyed by some unlikely force, maybe even supernatural. (On that note, if the subject had escaped - and likely caused this, what on earth were they testing?!) However, he was confused as to how the moon had exploded (the answer probably lay in the files he had been unable to break into, unfortunately it was guarded with higher security), there were no rockets or anything. The force at which the moon had exploded at had to have been very strong. This was the moon they were talking about!

Likely another test subject had been up on the moon? From a scientist standpoint he could definitely see why they might want to do that. So the subject had malfunctioned? And caused the destruction of the moon. If another subject like that was out there, on earth, who knows what could happen! The vacation though, could be either her grieving, or her grieving and planning revenge. Or simply just planning revenge. She could be the type to do so - Shinichi reasoned after looking at her profile.

Shinichi just had to know - where? Where was this potentially dangerous test subject hiding? He was thrust out of his train of thought when Kaito came running into the room. "Shinichiiiiii I need food! Make some dinner before I starve!" Kaito whined impatiently. Shinichi sighed with a small smile. "Alright, alright. How does omurice sound?" Shinichi asked, standing up and stretching out his stiff limbs. "Yay!" This could wait until later, he decided, and walked into the kitchen to make some food.

So? How was that? Okay? In this fanfic, Shinichi, being the better cook out of the two, was forced to learn how to cook, so he's actually good at it! (Not sure if it's cannon that he sucks at cooking, but it's a reoccurring theme I see in most ShinKai/KaiShin fics so eh. Haven't finished the series yet) Well, I hope you enjoyed, see you tomorrow! ^^
