Days until Halloween; 2
"Ahh, can we get off this conversation?" I demanded.
"Are you gonna start talking?" Frank questioned.
I shook my head,"Definitely not."
"At least us." Frank demanded, standing closer to Annie. I just rolled my eyes, ignoring the two. I wouldn't carry out a friendship with Annie for so long. She's someone I've known for about 30 years. So Frank is out of the question.
"You like texting, correct?" He asked.
I nodded at him, then waved my haunted ghost phone in his face.
"I could give you my number, at least we can communicate that way." I could sense nervousness in his voice.
I was back to not answering, so I nodded. We traded phones and wrote our contact names under the saved phone numbers for each other. Mine for myself was going to be LLG, short for lemon lover gee.
"What the hell does LLG stand for?" He asked.
"Lemon Lover Gee.." I blushed,"I love lemons."
"I made you blush!" Frank yelled, amusement in his voice. I shook my head, wanting to move away from him. There were customers inside already.
"Enough talking," I whispered, grabbing my phone. No new messages. I was expecting one from someone, but I guess I wasn't interesting enough.
As if on cue, a new message from Frank appeared.
xofrnk

xofrnk

I closed the messenger app on my phone and patted Frank on the back, a smirk forming on my face. He just laughed and shook his head. I went up to Annie because I was wanting another coffee.
"Are you and Frank friends?" Annie asked, filling my coffee with sugar. She new just how I like it.
I looked over at him, an annoyed look on my face."I wouldn't say that." I shrugged.
"Why don't you ask him to the costume convention?" Annie suggested, handing me my coffee. I took a sip and looked over at Frank, who was scrolling through his phone. Some social media application, I was guessing.
"Costume convention.." I whispered, walking back to the table. I was definitely going to have give that some thought. It had to do with Halloween and it was something I was interested in. I watched Annie post signs to the annual Halloween dance for couples and anyone else wanting to celebrate. Tickets were only $5 a person. I contemplated taking Frank, but I feel as though everyone would take it the wrong way. I thought at the very least he was cute, but I would never admit that to him. Much less ask him to a dance that could be considered a date. But, I didn't want to regret not going, because it was a Halloween dance...
LLG
wanna go to the halloween party at the cafe tonight? 8 pm.
xofrnk
i guess i have no choice, o.o. BUT ARE YOU ASKING ME ON A DATE.
LLG

xofrnk
yes.
I looked up at Frank and smiled. It was now 6 o'clock, Annie was handing Frank and I some of the pumpkins she carved to set outside the front door. I carried the ones with grumpy faces, and Frank set out the ones with happy faces. This is quite ironic, I thought to myself. I set a couple of the grumpy ones on the right side of the front door. Frank set the others on the opposite side of the doors. I started to walk off, but Frank called my name."Gerard!" He shouted,"I'm going to put them in a pattern. Care to join me?"
"No!" I yelled back, rolling my eyes. Geez Frank, what are we setting up for, a black parade?
"Suit yourself!" Frank yelled back.
Just shut the hell up already, damn.
I seriously think I'm on my monthly or something. Everyone's annoying and the only thing I care about is coffee. Then again, that's everyday. I am more annoyed with Frank right now than anybody I've ever met. Maybe this 'Halloween dance date' was a bad idea.
I looked at the time on my phone, which now read 8:01. People of all couples and sizes were already inside and dancing to the chosen melodies. "Come on!" I grabbed Frank and dragged him inside, just as he finished setting up the last pumpkin. We immediately went to the snack table. I got Frank a funnel cake and purple punch. I didn't want anything because it wasn't coffee.
When we sat down Frank said,"I think you're pregnant," A mouth full of funnel cake clogging up his words.
"Why?!" I sounded defensive. Realizing I was loud, I quietly leaned in,"Why?"
"You won't drink anything except coffee. You're weird," Frank took another bite of funnel cake and a sip of purple punch.
"Pregnant people can't drink coffee or caffeine--or so I've read. It causes miscarriages." I rolled my eyes.
Frank just laughed and shook his head. I was annoyed with him.
"Alright," Annie said on the loud speaker,"Time for a slow song.. for the lovers out there."
I rolled my eyes again, but I was also extremely tense. I knew Annie did that little charade for me and Frank. Frank nervously played with the sleeve on his outfit. I quietly watched him sipping his punch, the song's first notes began to play. "Want to dance?" I asked, awkwardly. To my surprise, Frank agreed. I took his hand. We of course went to the back. I didn't want to be seen dancing with a guy, because I wasn't into anyone other than women. I quietly swayed with Frank, my hand resting on my hip. His hand was resting on my shoulder. I wanted to lay my head down on his shoulder, but I figured that would be weird.
It's your love,
It just does something to me,
Sends a shock right through me,
I can't get enough.
