The food was surprisingly good that night. It hadn't taken me that long to gather the firewood. Turns out the dagger that Jasmine and Jayden had given me for protection works really well for cutting up tree branches. And it helped that this wasn't my first time chopping firewood.

At the summer camp that I went to, we had to learn all about how to survive in the wilderness and that included learning how to gather wood for a fire. I had been the first camper to get a fire going so they had rewarded me with an extra dessert that night.

Anyway, about half an hour after Jasmine and I had gotten the fire going, Jayden has returned from hunting for food. He had gotten a good haul. He had managed to snag a few squirrels and a bird.

Turns out Jayden was a good cook even though we didn't have any spices or pans to use. He cleaned, gutted, and cooked the squirrels and birds on sticks until the skin was nice and brown with steam coming off them.

After they were done, Jayden immediately called dibs on the bird because apparently, it was the closest thing to the chicken we had. The squirrel wasn't bad. It was quite good, to be honest. Although, I had been hesitant to try it at first you never know if you like something unless you try it.

By the time we finished our food, we were surprisingly full. According to Jayden and Jasmine, a squirrel was pretty filling if cooked correctly. I wonder if they had to learn how to hunt and cook on a campfire during their Angel training sessions. I wouldn't doubt it.

Jayden was sitting near the campfire using some sort of wet stone to sharpen his sword. He said that it was because it had gotten dull during the fight with the Ignus Cattus but if you asked me I think he did it because he thought it made him look cool. Jasmine was currently running a brush through her hair because she hated when it got tangled. I hadn't noticed until now that she had managed to save her purse from being destroyed the same way the cab had. I wasn't sure what she had in there. My guess: more things to make her look nice. I had never been interested in makeup and fancy clothes.

It was hard to believe that not too long ago these siblings that were about my age, had been fighting a monster like total pros and now they were acting like normal teenagers.

I couldn't help but wonder what my best-friend Lucas was up to. Was he out with his guy friends playing sports or skating at the park. I doubt he would have noticed I was missing yet unless my Mother told him.

Lucas was the closest thing to a brother that I had and I missed him already. The main question on my mind was: Will I ever see them again? What happens after I get to Angelus Urbem?

Will I have to stay there for a long time to participate in training? Or will I have to stay there forever? I don't know. I was suddenly pulled out of my thoughts by a voice.

"Penny for your thoughts, Frost," Jayden spoke up.

" Huh?" I asked, confused. My brain was still a little lost in thought.

"You look like you're a million miles away from here.

What's up?" Jasmine slipped into the conversation.

The sky, I thought to myself. It was a joke I liked to do with my family and friends.

"Nothing. I'm fine." I told them.

The twin siblings have similar looks of disbelief.

"You're not a very good liar." Jayden pointed out.

" For your information, I happen to be a very good liar."

That's not to say that I lie often because I don't. I'm very honest. "
