The flying part wasn't too difficult. It was the landing part that I had trouble with. After leaving Mekhi's creepy castle behind, I flew my friends and I all the way to the entrance of the dark angel realm as directed by my friends. I was unconscious when I arrived here so I had here it from them that there is an elevator that we can take back up.
At first, I thought they were kidding but nope, there is an actual elevator to hell.
Go figure.
But when we got close to the spot where the elevator awaited, my wings and powers decided to take a siesta. Meaning my wings slid into my back and the light faded away leaving only the red rays from the sky and without wings, you can't stay up so without warning we painfully crashed into the grass, green staining our pants and shirts in the process.
Jayden stood up spitting grass out of his mouth and wiping off his pants. Jasmine and I followed his example equally annoyed with the crash landing.
"Dang it, If I had known your wings were going to shut down on us, I would have been able to our free fall," Jayden grumbled.
"Well, sorry." I groused," They're a little new if you hadn't noticed and I can't exactly control them. Your lucky I got us as far as I did. Or would you have preferred face planting into one of those buildings over there."
He held up his hands in surrender," You know what. The grass is fine. I actually enjoy rolling around in the grass so that's great."
"That's not entirely false. He used to do that all the time when we were little." Jasmine spoke up, softly smiling at him.
"It was the highlight of my day back then." He chuckled.
"That's sweet and all but we're not out the clear just yet. Let's get out of here before Mekhi and his son," She grimaced at the word 'son'," send some monsters or dark angels to fetch us."
"You're right, we need to get out of here pronto." Jasmine agreed.
The three of us took the elevator back up to the mortal world, creepy organ elevator music playing in the background alongside the grinding of the elevator. I was too worn out to even be concerned with the elevator sounds. On any other day, I'd be worried about it breaking down on us but I didn't even have the energy to laugh at Jayden's joke about the creepy music.
I'm both physically and emotionally exhausted. I'm not sure it's from being kidnapped and left unconscious in a prison cell, finding out my best friend is a dark angel bent on my destruction, or becoming a bad-ass angel who kicked dark angel behind and helped us escape.
My guess is D. All the above.
As far as I know, I've never been tired in my life. Not even after spending that entire day my freshman year picking up trash around the city for my Earth Day project. And I recall being dead on my feet that night and smelling of garbage. Which, now that I think about it, my friends reek of it.
I'm too tired to ask about it but I'll try to remember to mention it later.
When we exited the Dark Angel Pub, we walked to a decent area and hailed a taxi cab because none of us wanted to walk all the way back to Cael's cabin. The others seemed almost as tired as I was.
The taxi cab driver was polite, he didn't ask why two of us smelled like they had gone dumpster diving recently or why one of us (me) looked absolutely devastated and a little worn out. He had just asked where to and took us to the cabin, no questions asked. Which is good because I didn't have the energy to come up with a lie to explain things.
A few minutes later, the driver dropped us off in front of Cael's cabin and Jayden passed him a crumpled up twenty dollar bill that he had in his pocket before getting out of the car. Soon after, the car drove away leaving us standing in front of the cabin, worn out and confused as to what we should be doing. Sure we still had the plan to go to Santa Monica and find Cael's ship that he had intended on taking us to Angelus Urbem on but Lucas knew about it. So if we went there we would be playing right into his hands, wouldn't we?
