After sitting around a table for about half an hour discussing it, we decided that the original plan is still in place. It's risky but it's the only option we have right now. Jayden and Jasmine can only carry a person for so long in the air before they would have to stop and take a break so flying across the Pacific Ocean with wings isn't an option.

Jasmine had inquired about testing my wings to see if I would be able to bring them out again so I had attempted it with no luck.

It was a one-time thing apparently.

According to Jayden and Jasmine, our powers are connected to our emotions, so when I practically exploded with rage, pain, and hurt back at Mekhi's castle, I had been able to access my abilities and wings temporarily but eventually, it faded and became slightly dormant again.

This is why I need to get to Angelus Urbem to be trained by the Elders so that I can somehow get permanent access to my abilities and be able to fly places. But until then, our only option is to take a boat across the ocean and when we get underneath the floating city, Jayden said he'll be able to fly me up there on his own.

First, though we need to deal with the Santa Monica thing first. Jayden suspects Lucas might make an appearance at Santa Monica pier where he knows we'll be eventually so we have to be prepared for anything.

A small part of me wanted to tell Jayden that Lucas would never hurt me but this a different Lucas. I don't know what this Lucas might be capable of doing since he's no longer my friend. But I also remember a glimpse of pain in his eyes when he had told me the truth about himself at the castle.

Had it just been me seeing what I wanted to see or did he really feel guilty for lying to me? I guess the only person who'd be able to tell is someone I can't trust anymore.

We worked together and packed all of our belongings in backpacks and put them in the trunk of the car which didn't take very long. And then we got in the still stolen car and left Cael's cabin behind.

It only took less than half an hour to reach Santa Monica from Los Angeles which was both good and bad. It's good because we'll be able to head out on the boat soon. It's bad because when we drove up to the beach where the boat is supposed to be docked, they are furious to find that Lucas is indeed waiting for us there.

Alone.

I'd been kind of hoping that he would have stayed at Mekhi's castle with his Father instead of coming after us but nobody's that lucky.

We all got out of the car, Jayden locking it with a fast beep noise before we all walked up to Lucas.

"What are you doing here, Lucas?" I inquired, torn between hurt and anger," In case you missed the memo, you're no longer invited to come with us to Angelus Urbem."

"Trust me, going to that city is the last thing I want to do." He responded," I'm here because my Father sent me to stop you from getting on that boat and take you back to his castle."

"Oh, so your Mekhi's lapdog now. You just do whatever he says like a good little puppy." Jayden snapped at him.

"Quiet, Jayden, this doesn't concern you." He glared at him before turning back to me.

"They're my friends. Anything that concerns me, concerns them too," I told him," The one that doesn't belong here is you, Lucas. Not anymore."

He flinched at my words. I had just made it clear that I no longer think of him as a friend.

"Look, Bella, you need to understand that what I did is for the good of all angels, not just dark ones. If Mekhi takes command of both realms, light and dark will be connected. The war will be over and no more angels will get hurt."
