Every day was the same school, eat, sleep and repeat, until one day, everything changed. I never expected my life to change so much in such a short amount of time. If you had told me a few months ago that I'd be destined for greatness and that it's my job to save the world from darkness, I would have thought you were crazy. I still think it's crazy but I've come to accept it. I'm Isabella Steele and this is my story.

It's the last day of school at the Private Institute for Sensational Students. Or as the immature kids call it, 'P.I.S.S' High School. I'm a Junior at this school and I've been going here for a few years now. The only reason I was able to attend this expensive school is that my Mom is the Principal of this fine establishment. Which means she gets a huge discount for me to attend.

I used to go to a public school before my Mom got a better job at a fancy private school and we had to up and switch schools. It'll be great, she said. You'll make loads of friends, she said. I've been here since freshman year and the only friend I have is Lucas. Lucas Hunter, a 16-year-old jock whom I've been friends with since freshman year. It hadn't taken long for us to make a connection. He just seemed to get me and I knew we were going to be friends for quite some time.

Currently, all of us students are attending the last day of school pep rally in the gymnasium. Lucas and I are sitting side by side while all the teachers give their usual end-of-the-year speeches. Telling the students how much fun they had this year and how they can't wait to see them again next year. This is a total lie since the teachers are just as eager to leave for summer break as the rest of us. The stands are put into groups by the kids. It's organized by Popular Kids, Goths, Geeks, Drama Kids, and Jocks. I don't fit into any of these categories. Lucas and I like to joke that we are in a class all our own.

Speaking of Lucas, today he is wearing a blue short-sleeved v-neck t-shirt and a letterman jacket as well as a pair of black straight-leg jeans and Nikes basketball shoes. The shirt made his grayish-brown eyes pop out of his pale oval-shaped face underneath his short messy brown hair. He's pretty tall for his age at about 6" 2' and he is well built. I wouldn't say he's buff but he does have a toned form. Not that I've looked.

The whole gymnasium is abuzz with sound and chatter that fills my sensitive ears. Classmates are talking about summer vacation plans while trying to one-up each other on whose summer is going to be better.

The Vice Principal Mr. Mason, who is in charge of these meetings steps up to the podium and attempts to quiet the students so that he could speak.

It takes a few minutes to quiet all the students since they were so enthusiastic about vacation and none of the students liked Mr. Mason. But eventually, the room quieted enough for him to be overheard.

"Another year has gone and for the seniors at this school, we wish you luck in your future endeavors, whether it's college or a job in the workforce... " Mr. Mason drones on with the same speech he gives at the end of every year.

Most of the students weren't paying attention to a word he was saying. Even though I couldn't see them back there, the Jocks are playing paper football and the cheerleaders are checking their nails to make sure they aren't chipped. It's pretty much the same thing every school year, why would it be any different this time.

Out of the corner of my eye, a black shadow against the wall catches my attention but there is nothing there to make a shadow. When I turned my head to get a closer look, it vanished. A shiver crawls up my spine.

Am I seeing things?

I could have sworn that I saw something move over there.

"Are you alright?" Lucas spoke next to me, his voice tinged with concern as he disrupted my thought process.
