Monday. Great. I looked at myself in the mirror; messy hair, puffy red eyes from where I'd been crying, red cheeks and just an overall mess. I eventually managed to drag myself away from the mirror and towards my wardrobe, putting on a pair of jeans and a hoodie. I brushed my hair, shoved it into a messy ponytail, washed my face, brushed my teeth and sprayed. Everything I was doing was such an effort. My arms felt heavy, my head felt heavy, my chest felt heavy. I couldn't eat breakfast as I had no appetite, so I just went straight to my bag downstairs.
"Morning." My mom said as I grabbed my bag and headphones. She has a day off today and even though she did offer to take me into school, I said I was fine to walk.
"Morning."As I started walking to school I put my headphones in and changed the song to an upbeat sound, hoping my pace would quicken up- no luck though. The weather was alright, not cold but also not hot. Luckily, I don't live too far away from school, so I didn't have to walk too much. I roughly knew that if I left at the time I left, I'd get there right when the bell went, meaning that I wouldn't have to see Kayden for more than I wanted to.
First lesson is history. Fantastic. My eyes were hard to fully open, and my headache was making it hard to concentrate, but I managed to get to class fine. I sat on my chair and folded my arms on the desk, placing my head in between them. Just as I thought Kayden may have skipped today, I saw him slowly walk in. He was wearing black jeans with a grey hoodie and eyes looked quite puffy. He definitely didn't look his normal self, which made my heart sting a little. He slouched in his chair and just stared at the wall in front. Miss started saying something but I wasn't listening, instead just zoning out with my head on the desk. Another student came around and gave everyone a sheet, meaning that today is going to be an easy lesson. I picked up my pen and stared at my work.
"How are you?" A low croaky voice flooded through my ears. I turned to my right to see Kayden staring at me, it now being visibly clear that he had been crying.
"I, uh, I'm not great." I managed to softly get out. "Yourself?"
"I'll get there." He was still facing me but his eye-line was focusing off to the distance somewhere.
"That's good." I didn't know what to reply so I turned my attention back to the worksheet, Kayden doing the same. The lesson went by painfully slow, but it eventually finished. Luckily, the next lesson I have is chemistry, meaning that I'm not with Kayden and that I have Matt."Hey Amy I- woah, are you ok?" Matt asked as he sat down.
"Uh, yeah I'm fine." I replied, but Matt wasn't having it.
"What happened?" He pushed.
"I broke up with Kayden."
"Oh, I'm sorry." Matt sat down and luckily, the teacher came in, meaning that we didn't have to talk anymore.Slowly but surely the day went by, and it's now finally the end of the day. To be honest, I did feel very lonely and empty without Kayden around. I was walking back to my house with my headphones in when I saw a familiar car starting to drive next to me.
"Are you walking home?" He asked, causing me to nod my head.
"Get in."
"I really shouldn't."
"Amy."
"Kayden." He looked down and sighed.
"Please." The traffic started to build up behind, meaning that I didn't really have a choice as I know Kayden wasn't going to leave without me.
"Fine." I opened the door and shut it behind me, sliding into the passenger seat. The car ride was awkward, neither one of us saying anything. Every now and then I'd catch a glimpse of Kayden looking at me, but I was too scared to properly look. We finally arrived at my house but before I could leave, Kaydens voice stopped me.
"I'm sorry." He said, his sad eyes looking at me.
"Kayden." I looked to my lap and then back to him.
"Will we ever get back together?" He asked, still in his low, tired tone.
"I just-"
"Please. I need you. I love you." He tried to reach for my arm but I pulled away.
"I'm sorry." A tear escaped my right eye as I pulled away and got out the car, walking up to my house and not daring to look back.I was just sitting on my bed when I heard a gentle knock on the door, my moms head appearing in view.
"Can I come in?" She asked, earning a nod from me. She came and sat on my bed opposite me.
"I know it's hard. But you are the strongest girl I know." She said, her right hands stroking my cheekbone, pushing my hair behind my ear.
"I don't feel strong, mom." I started to feel myself break as she pulled me closer to her, my head now resting on her shoulder as soft sobs started to escape my lips.
"You are. And you will overcome this. I love you so much my darling." She stroked my hair for a while longer whilst whispering random things before I finally lifted my head off her shoulder.
"Can we do something tomorrow?" I asked, hoping that she didn't have work or anything.
"Im so sorry, Amy, but I have such a long shift tomorrow. I start at around 10 but I don't get back until early in the morning." She explained, causing me to nod as I understood.
"Ok." I sniffled. She kissed me in the head and then headed out my room.
"Goodnight my gorgeous girl, I love you, never forget that." She smiled.
"I love you too." She shut the door behind her as I crawled into bed, hoping to sleep away the pain I was feeling.Note: I just want to say thank you to everyone who's reading this book! I love reading all the comments and I am really happy that you guys are enjoying the story! :)
