It's been two weeks. Two weeks since I said goodbye to my best friend. It's been hard; so so hard. I've been staying at my own house for the past week, telling myself that I needed time to think. My mom had her funeral, which was something I didn't think I'd have to go through for a long time. Kaydens been telling me that I should stay with him permanently, but I still think it's all too soon and all too much.
However, today is the day where I start to carry on- after all, that is what mom would have wanted. Luckily, Dylan told the diner, and they told me to take as much time as I needed. Anyway, today is Monday, and today is my first day back. Kayden said he'd pick me up and drop me off, which made my head space a little less cloudy.
"Hey." He said as I slid onto the seat.
"Hi." The car was silent, but thankfully not awkward.Luckily, as I walked through the corridors to get to my lessons, I didn't get too many stares. No one knew why I was gone for a while, but me being away could be suspicious to some people.
"Are you alright?" Kayden asked, removing his arm from my waist.
"Yeah." I slowly breathed out. I did have history today, but it was last period.
"I'll see you at lunch." Kayden smiled, walking off with his friends. I walked into my classroom and sat down, getting my books out for the lesson; English. Everyone started swarming in as Sir came up to me, crouching down to my level.
"If at any point you need to go outside or go for a walk, you are more than welcome." He walked off back to his desk, leaving me in confusion to how he knew, but then I realised; Dylan."Amy." Kayden said as he sat down next to me in the canteen. "How are you?"
"I'm fine." I replied.
"Do you wanna go?" Kayden suddenly said, causing me to look up.
"What?"
"Like, let's get out of here. I want to take you somewhere." I nodded and we left, everyone practically jumping out of Kaydens way as I trailed behind him.
"Where are we going?" I asked as we pulled away from the parking lot.
"Now that, beautiful, is something I can't tell you." I rolled my eyes as Kayden put his hand on my thigh, squeezing it a little. We were driving for what seemed like ages, until he finally pulled up in a very familiar place. Kayden looked st me with a shy smile before getting out of the car, me doing the same. We walked up to the entrance, everything feeling like de ja vú. Kayden took my hand as he grabbed a blanket, laying it down near the back.
"Do you remember this place?" Kayden asked as he sat down, me doing the same.
"Do I remember this place? Of course, it's where you told me you loved me." I smiled looking to the ground, remembering the time when I was genuinely happy.
"Yes it was. And where you told me you loved me." Kayden took me to the sit outside movies, the one where the screen is projected on a wall.
"How come you took me here?" I asked.
"Well, I, uh, Amy." He paused. "I love you so much. So much. You're my everything. I know I've fucked up, and not been there for you, and I'm sorry. Seriously."
"Kayden I-"
"Don't speak, just listen. I need you, and you need me. You need me, Amy." He looked at me as if he was waiting for an answer.
"I know." He carefully stroked my cheek with the pad of his thumb.
"Can we go back to how things were?" He asked.
"What do you mean?"
"Can you be my girlfriend again?" I leant up and pecked his lips, pulling away and looking at him. Kayden moved his hands to my waist as mine went to the back of his neck. I kissed him again, but for much longer this time.
"Does that answer your question?"
