Another day to tackle already. I didn't really get a good sleep, I was up all night and I just couldn't shake off this weird feeling I had. I looked at myself in the mirror and luckily I didn't look as bad as I did yesterday. I got all ready for school quite quickly and as I was about to say goodbye to mom, I stopped myself as I didn't want to wake her up.
First period went really fast, luckily, but now it's second period, meaning history, meaning Kayden. I had to go to the restroom, but the bell went whilst I was walking to them.
"Oh, nice of you to join us." Miss sarcastically said to me as I walked in.
"I went to the r-"
"She's only a couple of minutes late, Jesus." Kayden snapped back as I shut the door and went to my seat. Miss looked at both of us before carrying on with what she was saying. I felt Kaydens eyes on me but I didn't look back; instead I just got my book and pen out.It was about halfway through the lesson and as I was just concentrating on my work, I felt my phone starting to vibrate. I looked at the number but it said no caller id.
"Miss can I go the restroom. Please." Miss said 'quickly' and I practically ran outside of the classroom, answering my phone as soon as I got out into the corridors.
"Uh, hello?"
"Hello, this is the New York Hospital calling, is this Amy Stevens?" A formal voice said through the phone.
"Yes it it, is everything okay?" I asked.
"Your mom has been involved in an accident, she is currently being treated on in the hospital. Please can you get here as soon as you can." A sudden rush of panic flooded through me as I realised I didn't have a car, but I did know someone who did. I ran back to my classroom and as I opened the door, everyone was silent and Miss was looking at me.
"That wasn't very qui-"
"I need to go." I grabbed my bag but as I looked up from grabbing it, I made eye contact with Kayden. Everything started to go blurry so I didn't hear what Kayden was saying, but I could kind of lip read the words 'are you ok?' I didn't respond, instead, I took my bag, ran to the car park and phoned the one person I knew I could rely on."Amy? Amy tell me what's going on." Dylan said as he pulled up, rushing towards me.
"We need to go to the hospital." My breathing started to become raggedy and the tears started streaming down my face.
"Hospital? Why?" Dylan questioned.
"My mom. She's got into an accident and we need to go now. Please." Dylan told me to get in and then ran to the drivers side. The car was silent, only the faint sobs I made was to be heard.Dylan drive to the hospital as fast as he could, abiding by the speed limits, and as soon as we got there, I ran out of the car with him following behind me.
"I'm here for Elis Stevens please." I said as calmly as I could, the receptionist woman nodding her head.
"This way." Dylan took hold of my hand and honestly, I really needed him right now. We followed the woman but we eventually stopped, this being because she was talking to another woman in uniform. The receptionist nodded her head, and then brought her attention to Dylan and I.
"We're sorry but Ms Stevens is still in operation. Is she your mother?" I nodded.
"Well as you're a relation, you can stay. Are you a friend?" She turned to Dylan. I really needed Dylan to stay with me so I just said the first thing that came out of my head.
"He's my boyfriend ma'am, and I really need him right now." I managed to say all in one.
"Of course." She smiled. "You can wait in the waiting area here for her, but it might take a long time. The surgeons are doing their best." Dylan told her we'd stay and we walked over to the seats. We sat down and i rested my head on Dylan's shoulder, everything suddenly hitting me.
"Thank you for this." I whispered to Dylan. He kissed the top of my head.
"Of course. Now get some rest."
"But what if she-"
"I will wake you up." I let his words sink in and eventually felt myself drifting off."Amy. Amy." I heard my name being whispered in my ear as I started to open my eyes. I lifted my head off Dylan's shoulder, realising it was him who was saying my name.
"Your mom is in a recovery room. We can see her." Dylan explained, making me suddenly stand up. Dylan asked if we could see her and one of the nurses took us to the room.
"She is still unconscious right now, but you can still see her." She sadly smiled. "I'm sorry." The nurse said as she gently touched my arm, me realising she did that because a single tear slid down my face. I slowly walked in to see my mom lying on the bed.
"Oh my god." I sat on the chair next to her and held her right hand, my eyes not being able to look away.
"What happened?" I asked the nurse.
"Your mother had a crash, but we are not quite sure how it happened yet. There were no other vehicles involved." I glanced at Dylan who had a confused expression, but all I could focus on was my mom.
"Will she be okay?" I asked again.
"We don't know." The nurse replied, looking to the ground. I kissed my moms hand and rested my head on it, my body not being able to hold in my emotions.
"I love you so much mom. I love you. Please wake up." I whispered, barely hearing the words myself. The time went by and soon enough, visiting hours were over. As much as I didn't want to leave my mom, Dylan practically forced me out of the hospital, promising me he'd take me tomorrow.
"Dyl?" I asked as we started driving.
"Yes Amy?" He looked over at me with a worried expression.
"Can I- Can I stay with you tonight?" I looked out of the window then to my lap, waiting for his answer. At this moment in time, all I wanted was some company.
"Of course. If that's what you want." I nodded my head and Dylan turned up the radio ever so slightly. It's a lot later now and Dylan and I are just getting ready for bed.
"I'll sleep on the couch downstairs and you can-"
"No, please. Stay here." I begged, staring right at Dylan who was now in his pyjamas.
"Oh, Okay." He pushed his messy hair back with his hand. "Have you got anything to sleep in?" I shook my head.
"Uh, here, have my shirt." He passed me his plain black top that he'd been wearing today, his smell still lingering on it. I took my clothes off and was now stood in my underwear. I knew Dylan was staring at me but I didn't pay any attention, instead just slipped the shirt on.
"Thank you." I said, causing Dylan to give me a tired nod and smile. We got into bed and I could tell Dylan was being careful, as if he didn't know what to do. He went right to the edge of the bed.
"Can you hold me?" Dylan turned around at looked at me.
"Do you want that?" I nodded. He shuffled closer and pulled me close to him, my head now on his chest. Slowly but surely, I felt myself drifting off to sleep.
