"Where have you been?" Kayden yelled as I entered the house, shutting the door behind me.
"I'm sorry." I whispered, looking to the ground. Kayden stomped his way over to me, grabbing my face.
"Look at me." He ordered. "Look at me!" He said louder. I moved my eyes up to his.
"Where were you?" I pulled myself out of his grip.
"I was at work really late and then Yana had some stuff going on so I just stayed round hers. I walked into the living room, Kaydens stare burning into me.
"No call? No text?" He followed me into the living room, clearly unimpressed by my answer. He sat down on the couch, looking up at me.
"Yana needed me. I had to." I looked at the ground, remembering everything that Hannah and Kyle and Dylan had told me. I sighed and cleared my mind as I sat next to him.
"Baby, you've got to stop doing this to me." I moved my hand up to his head, playing with his messy hair.
"I know. And I'm sorry." I closed my eyes and paused before reopening them. "The only thing is, is that I'm not sorry." Kayden furrowed his brows in confusion.
"What?"
"I said I'm not sorry. For anything. Not one bit." I pulled my hand away, staring right at him.
"You probably want to take that back." He warned.
"In fact you should be the one who's sorry!" I said, standing up.
"What are you talking about?" Kayden stood up too, watching every move.
"Kayden, stop lying. I know everything." I walked up to him and looked him right in the eyes.
"We're over.""The thing is, pretty girl, you have nothing without me. No friends. No home." He paused. "No mom." I slapped Kayden on the cheek, all my anger coming out of me. Kayden reacted quickly by slamming me against the wall, holding my hands above my head.
"You're a psychopath. One fucked up psychopath." I spat.
"I gave you everything!" He roared. "Everything!"
"You killed my mom." I let out in a low tone. Kayden loosened his grip as I pulled my hands down to my sides.
"You took my friends away. You faked my dads signature. What kind of sick bastard does that?"
"You're all I had." He replied, tensing and un-tensing his jaw. "I couldn't just give you up."
"So what? You ruin my family? You ruin my life? Just so you could have me?" I asked angrily, everything rolling off my tongue. Kayden leant back on the counter as I started to pace up and down,
"You said you would fix her car, but I know you didn't. How did you do it?"
"Are you sure it was me?" I stared at him in disbelief.
"Kayden, we're in way too deep. Just tell the truth." He sighed heavily.
"I took the brakes out. Snipped the wires. Told you to get me a glass of water so I'm that time I could hide the evidence. The next time she was going fast and needed to break, she had no chance." In the midst of his blue eyes, there was a tiny segment of remorse. I slowly breathed in and out, trying to compose myself the best I could.
"And faking my dads signature?"
"It was easy. I just had to sign a few contracts, tweak it a bit, make a few phone calls and voila. I knew you'd move in with me, as you had no where else to go."There was an eerie silence that came upon us, neither one of us knowing what to do.
"You know this is the end, right?" I questioned Kayden. He pushed himself off of the counter.
"It doesn't have to be. We can run away; just us two. We can go to Los Angeles! I'll have my football scholarship whilst you can do whatever you dream." He was now facing me, his hand touching my cheek softly.
"I loved you, Kayden." I said slowly, my vision turning glossy.
"No, no, no. You love me. Amy, you love me. We're going to get married- and have kids! And be happy!" I shook my head, my lick quivering.
"You need help, Kayden." He moved his hands to my collar tightening his grip on it.
"No I don't! I need you." He whispered.
"You need to let me go." He shook my collar, shaking my whole body.
"You don't understand." He shouted. "You don't understand." Tears started rolling down my cheeks.
"We can't be." As Kaydens grip became tighter and tighter, everything started to happen in slow motion. My vision was blurred and Kaydens screaming started to fade off into the distance. From the corner of my eye, I saw the door swing open, Kaydens gaze turning from me to the door. Police swarmed the room, circling Kayden and I.
"What did you do?" He whispered, his eyes now becoming glossy. I shook my head.
"Why would you do this to me?" He asked, looking around the room.
"I did it for my mom." After those words came out of my mouth, I felt myself being pulled away from Kayden. They pulled me into their chest, and I knew exactly who it was.
"You're going to be alright, you're safe." Dylan whispered in my ear, kissing the top of my head.
"Kayden Jones, you are being arrested on suspicion of murder, fraud and abuse." The cops pushed him against the wall, handcuffing his hands together. Kayden didn't react, he just stared at me, as if he had just given up. I looked up at Dylan who was looking at Kayden, his thumb moving in circular motions on my arm to try and calm me down. The cop dragged Kayden out of the house, all the other police following him apart from one.
"Are you okay ma'am?" He asked.
"Yes, thank you." I sniffed, letting out a small smile. He nodded his head as he left the house too, everything now silent and empty.
"Are you okay?" Dylan asked, facing me. Instead of replying, I just fell into his arms, breaking down completely. It's now a lot later, and to be honest, I'm still a mess.
"Are you sure it's okay that I stay here?" I asked, already feeling like a burden.
"Of course it is, you don't even need to ask." Yana smiled, passing me a hot chocolate.
"Thank you so much." When Yana told me to stay at her house, the first thing I did was have a bath. Yana and Dylan brought in the main things that I needed and put them in the spare bedroom. I then got changed into my pyjamas, and now Yana and I are having hot chocolates whisk watching a movie. I just wanted to go to back, as today really took it out of me, but she said it would be good to watch a movie and forget about everything else, so I agreed. Kyle and Hannah texted me, which I really appreciated, and for the first time in forever, I feel free.
