Julian poured me a cup of tea before he began working around the kitchen. It was entertaining watching him figure out how to make what he wanted and seeing the moments of confusion. The occasional oops added to the amusement of the scene.
I took small sips of the tea as he cut up some fish. I let my eyes wander around the space some more as he continued. The room was small but held a lot of character. Small pictures, a vase of flowers on the counter.
Rain has slowly begun to fall outside and it kept the market desolate. Two guards were walking through, keeping a sharp eye on the surroundings. I felt a little uneasy with the rain and guards.

My wolf began humming a soft tune which prevented my heart from speeding up. The anxious thoughts stayed at bay and I was able to continue uninterrupted. My eyes returned to Julian's form as I heard a small clank. He was carefully putting two dishes into the oven. I giggled at the slight perspiration on his brow and the concentration in his eyes.

"Don't laugh at me, this is hard." he whined.
I continued to giggle more as he turned around with a hand on his hip.

"Fine you don't get to eat." He threw up his hands and began putting the different spices away.

"Thats not fair!"

"You come into my home and laugh at my hospitality? It is very fair!"

"But I'm so hungry..." I stood up and placed a damsel hand on my forehead. " I could just die if I don't eat.." I swayed slightly and sighed.

Julian rolled his eyes, "Okay princess.. whatever you say. You can eat."

"Thank you noblemen. Your deeds will not go unnoticed!" I sang.

I plopped back down on the chair and finished off the tea. Julian was quick to clean up the kitchen before he joined me at the table with his own cup.

"Shouldn't be too long now." He sighed as he sipped slowly. His eyes shifted to the marketplace, his aura seemed to change and he was more on edge. I sunk down in my chair slightly as I awaited his news.

"They need me for a bit. Can you take the food out in about ten minutes? I promise I'll be back soon." Julian's eyes didn't leave the market.
"Okay."

He quickly rose up and headed out the front door. My eyes moved to where he was looking. It didn't take long to see him jog out into the market and meet with one of the guards I saw earlier. He gestured for him to follow and they both quickly ran off. I sighed slightly and picked up my cup before setting it in the sink. I leaned my hands on the counter and looked out at the grey sky. We were lucky it wasn't pouring. The slight rain shouldn't cause too many problems for us. These homes are built strong enough to withstand a bit of water.

I aimlessly wondered around the home. My wolfs consistent hum helped prevent any further worry I had about what Julian was called for.

He's a strong man and wolf. There's no need to feel any worry. My wolf spoke

I know.. I just can't help it.

I eyed the time, just a few more minutes on the food. I opened the oven slightly and basked in the aroma. My stomach growled in response and my mouth began watering.

Hmm.. I can't eat it without him. I'll wait for him on the couch. I carefully slipped on a mit and pulled out the two dishes before setting them on the counter to cool. I wanted so bad to take a small little nibble but I forced myself to walk away and plant my butt on the couch. I leaned back against it and looked up to the ceiling. Hopefully he's not too much longer...

The gods were smiling down on me for Julian walked through the door at the thought.

"Told you I wouldn't be long!" He strolled into the kitchen. He was slightly damp from the rain but it didn't seem to bother him.

"I just took the food out. It's on the counter cooling down!" I lazily gestured in its general direction.

"Thank you for that, Give me a moment.. I wanna change out of these wet clothes." He spun on his heel and headed up the stairs. I pushed myself up from the couch and made quick work to set the two dishes onto the table.
Julian entered again wearing sweatpants and a T-shirt. I felt my face heat up and quickly diverted my attention.

"I don't know where the forks are and I didn't wanna rummage through your drawers."

" I got it." He set down two forks.

"Let's dig in!"

I dug into the delicious fish. The flavor was great and it was cooked perfectly. There was a spice that was a bit too strong but it didn't ruin the meal.

"Okay, give me your comments. I gotta get better." Julian asked after having a bite.

" Fish is cooked perfectly.. but all the stuff beneath has a bit too strong of something.. some spice but I can't put my finger on it." I bit my finger as I tried to think of what it was.

"Oh... apparently dried spices and fresh have two completely different measurements for what you want.. I learned that after the fact." He scratched the back of his head.

I giggled softly as I took another bite. " You're doing great. I can't cook so you're already better than me."

"Yeah well you are better at the whole taste thing for food."

I shrugged. I loved good food, I can't help but want a good balance of things.

We continued eating in silence for a bit. It was nice being comfortable without words. I simply enjoyed the presence of him.
I frowned slightly. I hope this isn't too much to ask.
"Why did you have to go out? Is everything okay?" I asked as I finished the last bite of food. I leaned back and looked up to him. He was concentrated on the table.

"Some people were concerned about an unguarded spot around the border of the town. We shifted some guards around so it was better taken care of. Thankfully there seems to be no threats at the moment and we can wait out the rain."

It was still sizzling outside, small puddles began forming around the paths. Some people had windows slightly cracked to allow in air.

"I'm glad it wasn't anything too serious."

Julian didn't respond. He rose up and grabbed my empty plate and his before taking it over to the sink and cleaning them off.

"Thank you for dinner."

"Of course."

Julian seemed lost in thought. His gaze was trained on the Alphas home.

"I'm gonna head back home, okay?" I pushed up and began heading to the door.

" Please go straight home and be safe in the rain." Julian came over and held the door open for me.

"I will. See you tomorrow!" I gave a small wave before darting off down the street.

I feel like there's a lot more that he's not sharing regarding what's going on. Especially considering we did have a rogue attack just the other day which isn't normal. I don't think there's been one in a long time.

The rain was cool against my skin and I found small bumps to form. I slowed my pace as I neared my home. The desolate streets and rain sent a chill up my spine. I looked back feeling eyes burning into my neck. Hmm.

I turned back and quickly ran the rest of the way and through the front door. I shut it behind me with a bang and peered through the window. There was a swipe of a black tail, and then nothing.

I blinked rapidly and tried to find anything else but I came up with nothing.

Maybe just a guard patrolling?

But deep down, I knew that it wasn't the case.
