Sixty: The Lawyer

Shelby's eyes grew wide. "He can't... h-he can't do that!"

"Okay, okay." Audrey took a deep breath, trying to calm herself down as she threw the phone away, instantly turning to her lover. "Let's j-just take a deep b-breath." She said softly, taking her lover's hands. "Let's c-calm down and t-think, o-okay?"

"H-he ca-can't!" Shelby sobbed. Her hands covered her face. She felt as if he was ruining her life again.

Audrey felt her heart breaking at the sight in front of her. She hugged her lover tightly, caressing her back as she thought of what to do. "He w-wants money, that's n-not a problem."

Shelby shook her head. "No... h-he's-he's not g-getting any f-fucking mo-money."

Audrey bit her lip as she started thinking. Suddenly, she remembered of Alice. She quickly grabbed her phone again, one arm still around her lover. The actress pressed on her sister's contact and took the phone to her ear.

Shelby looked at her lover with a confused look as tears continued to roll down her cheeks.

Soon, Alice picked up. "Alice! I need your help...! I don't care, tell Anne it's urgent, you'll be right back...! Matt doesn't want to sign the divorce papers... Shelby's ex...! can he do that...? oh, alright... oh... mhm... yes... thank God! Two months max? Okay... we will, in an hour or two... okay... thank you so much, you literally saved my life... okay... bye."

Shelby smiled softly when she heard Alice's name. She waited to see what she said. Her tears soon stopped, and she rested her head on her lover's shoulder.

Audrey quickly hung up and felt her tears coming hard, the adrenaline rushing through her body now that she knew everything was okay. "W-we..." she tried to speak, but only sobs and a smile popped out.

Shelby was so confused. She saw the smile, but the cries were so hard that she wasn't sure if they were good or bad. "Wh-what... what is it?" she asked softly.

"W-we..." Audrey tried to speak, but the tears just wouldn't let her. "We are okay," she blurted out, taking a deep breath to force her tears to stop. "It's j-just... the adrenaline."

"We're okay?" Shelby asked with a relieved breath.

"Y-yes!" Audrey smiled brightly, taking another deep breath as she was finally able to calm her tears down. "Jesus, I love you!" The actress exclaimed, hugging her lover tightly, causing both to fall back on the pillows.

Shelby smiled softly as she laid back down with Audrey. She rested her head on the woman's chest as she allowed her eyes to close. "I'm sorry," she whispered.

"Why are you apologizing, my love?" Audrey asked sweetly, brows furrowing softly as she hugged Shelby closely.

Shelby shrugged. "Y-you shouldn't have to deal with that... him..."

"I don't care," Audrey said firmly, tenderly. "I wouldn't mind giving him all my money if it meant I'd be able to have you as my wife... he's jealous."

Shelby smiled when Audrey called her 'my wife'. "Really?" she asked as she looked up at her lover.

"Yes," Audrey nodded, not thinking twice. "Of course, I would, Shelby... I love you. I love you more than anything. Life has no meaning if I'm not with you."

Shelby smiled even more. "I love you more than you'll ever know. I-I'm so lucky to have you." She said as her eyes started welling up with tears again.

"Oh, baby..." Audrey smiled sadly, bringing a hand up to wipe her lover's tears away. "Everything is okay now, my love."

Shelby nodded softly as she sniffled back her emotions. She hated how shaken up she was now. "I'm sorry..." her voice was barely audible as she said this.
