Kabanata 17

"Sige na, Warrion, please?" Pangungulit ko kay Warrion habang naroon pa rin s'ya sa may manibela at pinapaandar ang yate.

I was pouting my lips, nakita ko ang pagsulyap n'ya sa labi ko bago ngumisi at umiling.

"No, baby. You sit there and behave, malapit na tayo."

"I wanna go back!" I stomped my feet. "Uuwi nalang ako!"

His lip twitched as he lowered his head to gave me a peck on the cheek. I froze, nanlalaki ang matang pinagmasdan ko s'ya at hinampas nang matanto ang ginawa n'ya.

"Y-You just don't get to kiss me like that!" I gasped in horror.

"Hmm," He shrugged and slowly pulled me closer to his body.

My body started reacting to his moves, hindi ako nakawala nang tumungo s'ya bago muling nagpatak ng halik sa pisngi ko at marahang yumakap sa baywang ko.

"What an asshole," He murmured.

"S-Sino? Ako?!" Tinulak ko s'ya pero mas humigpit ang hawak n'ya sa baywang ko at tumawa.

"No, it's me." He murmured. "What an asshole to push you away when I only wish to be this close to you again...like this."

"Anong ibig mong sabihin?" Nilingon ko s'ya at nahuli ko at kislap ng berde n'yang mga mata.

"I mean...I will chase you down 'till you get tired of me." He murmured softly, pumunta pang lalo sa likuran ko at tahimik na humawak sa manibela habang ang isang kamay ay nakapulupot sa akin.

"I am done hiding in the dark with you, baby, I will go out now and pull you out with me. We can't be stuck forever in it." He murmured softly and kissed my shoulder.

I still don't get it, Warrion.

I sighed and closed my eyes, I let the cold wind touched my skin while Warrion is on my back, giving me his warmth.

I heard his deep breaths, tila malalim ang iniisip. I saw the veins on his hand protruding a bit with his grip on the steering wheel.

"I want to go back, War..." Mahinang sabi ko.

"You don't want to be with me?" He whispered painfully. "Kahit sandali lang?"

"No..." I shook my head in conviction. "I was hurt, I can't let you touch my heart again and break it. Sawang-sawa na akong umasa, Warrion."

"I'm sorry," He whispered. "I'm sorry, Winter. If only I can take it back, I will. This heart of mine just don't function well...I want to push you away so you'll go away but I keep on seeing myself following you."

"Bakit mo ba ako tinutulak palayo?" Mahinang sabi ko.

"Because I have to...I always fail you, everytime. My only job is to protect you yet I always fail."

"You did a great job, War." Mahinang sabi ko. "P-Pero alam mo, tama ka nga noon, we should just stay professional. What we had is just for the job, you protect me and you made it. Your job is finally done."

"I don't want this to be just a job anymore," Bigong sabi n'ya. "Damn, I always break my rules. I promise myself to just protect your from afar but I always fail, mas gusto kong nasa tabi kita, nahahawakan ka."

Hindi na ako muling umimik. I lowered my head and stared at his hand on my stomach, marahang hinaplos ko iyon at tahimik akong sumandal sa kanya.

I don't know how long it took us before we reached the island, nakamasid lang ako sa paparating na isla at malakas ang kabog ng puso ko.
