Her eyes scanned the bags of chips that were spilled across the counter. Their varying colors shining in the bright light above her. Finally her fingers were just starting to curl around a bight green bag when there was a loud clash outside. Her head looked up from where she was and towards the clean windows of the store.
You were swaying from side to side, trying to regain your strength as the enemy looked at you from above the roof. His smile was devious, and delusional as he laughed, "you think you can get in the way of my mission?"
You gritted your teeth, "of course I will. You aren't touching her."
"What if I already have," the man leaned down towards you.
Your body reacted before you thoughts could as you threw your already tattered self up towards the roof. Before you knew it, a metal object came flying towards your face, hitting you back down towards the ground. You did your best to catch yourself, but your body started to grow too heavy for you to stay standing.
You could feel the warm arms of Jihyo around you as she caught your falling form outside the convince store. She fell down with you, her knees catching the brute of the fall as you stayed close to her chest, your back resting against her thighs. Her throat felt tight as she looked around the vacant street, looking for help that wouldn't be there.
Loosening her grip on you, she began to examine you, her breath catching the moment she saw the huge cut across your face and finally processed the warm sticky feeling against her stomach. "What happened," her voice was panicked as she gently laid you on the ground, her eyes searching for anymore injuries.
"No-thing," your seethed against the pain. You weakly pushed her away, trying to get up, but failing. Jihyo reached for you again, but you held out your hand, "stop. You need to leave. You aren't safe."
"I'm not safe," her voice sounded almost hysterical as she went against your wishes and helped you up from the cold, hard ground. Your weight caused her to tremble, but she held you up, "let's get you inside the convince store. My phone is dead, but I am sure they can call for help."
"Jihyo, no," your feet were unsteady as they tried to keep her from pulling you into the store.
"No, I am getting you help," her eyes were filled with determination as her grip tightened on you. The store instantly surrounded your body with warmth as Jihyo gently set you to lean against the ATM machine. Her voice was a bit distant as you heard her, "call 911 please? My girlfriend is hurt."
"Girlfriend," you could hear the man guffawed, "get out of my store. We don't like your.. kind around here."
"But- she's hurt-"
"Not my problem," the man ignored her, pulling out a magazine filled with cars.
Jihyo, impatient, started to bring down her fist on the counter, but you coughed, "Jihyo. It's not worth it. Just go home. I'll be fine."
