You slumped down in your seat and laid your head on your desk, letting your pencil fall out of your hand and onto the tiled floor. You had been working hard on these math problems, but the numbers swirled around in your head in a confused array, and you couldn't see straight anymore. Sighing, you propped your head up on your crossed arms, blinking and trying to stay awake. Come on, you prodded yourself. You need to ace this next test if you want to pass the semester.

The bell rang, and you shot up like a rocket, causing your papers to fly off your desk. Your classmates laughed as they left the room, and you were left to pick up the papers by yourself. You stuffed them into your backpack and rushed out of the room, going as fast as you could to get to your next class on time. The room was on the second floor and you only had two minutes to get there.

You rushed inside Chemistry 101 just as the bell rang. "Tardy, (Y/N)," your teacher said, frowning. You sat down at your table and opened your textbook. "Class, turn to page 64 and start working on problems 1-20. Complete these before lunch break."

You fished around in your backpack for a pencil, and your face flushed. Dammit, I left it on the floor of the math room! You raised your hand.

"Yes, (Y/N)?" your teacher asked.

"May I go downstairs quickly? I left my pencil in my last class," you said.

"You should have been prepared. I'm afraid you'll have to borrow from someone else."

Today can't get any worse.

You turned to ask your lab partner, Lucy, if she had a pencil, but the chair next to you was empty. Oh great, now I'll have to do these by myself, you thought. You turned around to your friend Corey's table and whispered, "May I borrow a pencil?"

"No talking between tables, (Y/N)!" the teacher said.

"But I was just trying to-"

"Nope. One more outburst like that, and you'll be going to the principal's office."

Corey passed you a pencil and you nodded your thanks, and you got to work on the textbook problems.

You were only six problems in when the bell for lunch break sounded. "Bring your papers to the front, and we'll go over them after lunch," your teacher said.

You walked up to his desk, your mostly-blank paper in hand. "I didn't get to finish the problems. May I complete them during lunch?"

"Absolutely not. If I let you complete them during lunch, I'd have to let everyone do that. I can't give special treatment to any of my students." Your teacher shook his head. "You've been acting up an awful lot today. I'm disappointed. Now hand me your paper."

Your eyes welled up with tears as you handed him your paper, and you practically ran out of the room. You were halfway down the hallway when you realized that you'd left your lunchbox in the science lab. You turned around to get it just in time to see your teacher locking the door and walking away. You spun around and walked to the cafeteria, your shoulders slumped.

You walked into the lunchroom and fished around in your pockets for change. You found a dollar and twenty cents, and you decided to buy a bag of chips from the vending machines. Not much of a lunch, but what else could you do?

You had just bought your Cheetos and started to head over to your usual table when you felt warm arms surrounding you from behind. The love in that embrace made your heart swell, and you smiled. "Jihyo?" you said, turning around.

She was grinning, but her face fell as soon as she saw the tears in your eyes. "(Y/N), what's the matter?" she asked, taking your hand.

"Today's been awful so far," you said. You recounted the entire miserable story, and Jihyo shook her head and hugged you. You hugged her back, smiling against her neck - her hugs seemed to change your bad mood instantly.

"I'm so sorry, baby." Jihyo pulled away from you and stroked your hair. "I'll buy you lunch and tell you lots of silly jokes to make you smile again."

You blushed and grabbed her hand. "You're the best."
