Chapter Nine

"Top of the morning everyone" hiccup said to his friends.

"This should be good" Tuffnut said with sarcasm

"It is actually, my father wants to speak with all of you"

They all had a scared and surprised look on their faces, hiccup smiled and wanted to laugh so bad.

"Why.. Why does he want to..." Astrid stammered, fish legs squirmed.

"The incident about the weapon damage was meatlug's fault I'm sorry hiccup just please don't let your dad kill me"

This time all eyes were on him.

"Uh guys... Why are you all so afraid of my dad"
"Because hiccup" snotlout said, putting his hand on his shoulder "They say experience changes a man and we are not sure how his has changed him"

Hiccup chuckled "He's still the same guys and experience has made him softer in fact. Come with me, you guys aren't in trouble" he said and walked ahead, they followed him.  They reached the hall and opened the door, there Stoick was looking at a map, then he noticed all of them and smiled.

"Hello everyone, so nice of you to be here"

"Why did you want to see us... Sir?" Tuffnut asked. Stoick beckoned for them to come near the table, they all did. He showed them the map, with different markings on it.

"This part of Dunbroch is heavily guarded this time of the year" Stoick started.

"This time of the year? What's happening?" Hiccup asked

"They are having a celebration today"
"What are they celebrating?" Fish legs asked

"Let me tell you all a story" he said and told them to take a seat, they all looked at each other before doing so. Stoick cleared his throat.

"Long ago in the land of Dunbroch, there was a mighty bear named Mor'du. His body filled with weapons of fallen warriors with one dead eye. The king of Dunbroch drew his sword and charged towards it, Mor'du raised his mighty hand and his sword broke, the king was now weaponless and had to have a man to man combat with the beast, but he was overpowered...in a way... The beast went chomp! And his leg was clean off, down the monster's throat it went,. After that savage act of canivorism, the beast retreated into the woods, never to be seen again. Long after, the beast appeared again but it was written that it was another bear that fought it and soon it was defeated, that bear was the Queen"

"Wow... How do you know all this dad?"
"The better question is... The queen was a bear?" Astrid asked
"Yes, she is quite tough. I've seen her, the face of a queen but the heart of a warrior. She is well respected, sometimes even more than the king" Stoick said crossing his hands and leaning back.

Hiccup's mind was elsewhere, he stroked his chin as his father talked, if he could capture the queen that means he could get the Scotts to surrender finally and admit defeat once and for all.  He smirked.

"What you thinking?" Snotlout asked hiccup much to his surprise.
"Nothing, Anyways dad, let's do what we came here for shall we?" hiccup said standing up and walking towards the map again, they soon joined him.

"Like I was saying, this part of Dunbroch is heavily guarded so we can only come from this side of the woods. If we can get some of the villagers to fly over and cause a distraction then we charge in and..."

"Hold on, we're attacking...today?!" Fish legs asked

"Indeed we are... It's time to end this, Astrid, you will announce it to the people, snotlout tell the guards to get the weapons ready... You two, make sure the dragons are in good shape for battle, fish legs... "

"He knows my name" fish legs whispered to Tuffnut happily

"....Tell Corona's guards to put on their armour and hiccup, come with me" Stoick ordered and they all nodded and scattered, Stoick soon walked fast while hiccup tried to catch up.

"Where are we going father?"
"just walk with me son"

He soon entered his room, he opened the drawer and brought out a box. Hiccup was still confused, his adrenalin was pumping, he wished his father could have allowed him give the orders instead. He was the current chief after all.

"Son, take this"
Hiccup gasped "My flaming sword"
"I'm sorry i took it from you before, today it's important. Hiccup... I'm proud of you, no matter what. Fight like a warrior, fight like a chief okay?"

"I promise dad" he said
