Queen Merida

Chapter Eleven

A/N: this chapter is dedicated to Shell-Shell4 for giving me the idea although it may not be exactly the way you expected it to be...enjoy either way.

Merida woke up feeling a lot of pain, she groaned as she shifted. The floor was hard and her head and neck ached so much. Her eyes flickered open as the war's memories came flooding back, she sat up to observe her surroundings. She was in a prison, there were two guards beside her talking, they didn't seem to notice that she was awake then she saw the keys dangling from one of the guards' belt, she reached out to take it but she heard someone coming as the guards stood up to salute him, it was dark so she couldn't make out who it was but once he stepped into a clearer position, Merida frowned.

"Well well, the queen is awake, I hope you enjoyed your sleep"
"What do ye want?"
"Nothing, I already have what I want...which is you"
"What do ye mean?"
"You see, having the Queen of Dunbroch in Berk is a great honour"

Merida scoffed, hiccup smirked and continued.

"Another thing is, you are Dunbroch's prized possession, if anything happens to you then....well you know what will happen so that's why you're here, you are my key to ending all this and Berk's victory over the war"

Merida scowled and stood up, her gaze fixed on his but her eyes glanced very quickly towards the key still on the guard's belt, it was near, if she managed to distract him then she can execute part of her plan. She moved closer, her hands clutching the prison bars now, hiccup moved back a bit.

"Ye think yer going ta win just because ye have mi locked up here? Then think again because mi dad will come for ye, he never gives up"

"That is unless there is a reason to"
Merida raised an eyebrow
"Let me explain, like I was saying, we have you here and that means victory for us but you said your dad never gives up right? You're right, he doesn't unless, he happens to know that we have you locked here which he will eventually find out and when we send him a letter telling him that his precious daughter is going to lose her life if he doesn't forfeit"

"No!"
"Yes! But this will only happen when I have exacted my revenge" he whispered and chuckled evilly.

(Who else is loving this dark side of hiccup😁)

"What are ye going ta do?"
"Exactly what he did to me"
"Ye won't get away with this!"
"Oh princess, I already have" he said and walked away, merida groaned then quickly grabbed the key from the guard's belt, hiccup turned back, she opened the cage and used a spear to knock out the guards, she faced it towards hiccup, he brought out his sword and they clashed.

Merida pushed hard and hiccup lost balance and fell back , she threw the spear on him and ran out as fast as she could, she saw other vikings as she ran past them, hiccup ran out and looked at them.

"She's getting away! Get her!" He ordered and they grabbed their weapons and pursued, merida was running as fast as she could as she heard the others chasing her. She unfortunately tripped on something and fell on her face, she looked back at the pursuing viking and hiccup with a bloodshot look in his eye, she turned away and got ready for the worst then everyone moved back in fear.

Merida opened her eyes slowly to see the same dragon she saw in the woods and in the war, she remembered the chief calling him toothless...what kind of name was that?! It was in front of her, she widened her eyes and looked at it, it looked back at her then smiled.
Merida stood up slowly as toothless brought his nose forward, everyone with bated breath especially merida watched on as she slowly moved her hand towards it's nose then came in contact with it.

She smiled at it's affection towards her "This is the second time, thank you" she whispered to it, toothless turned back to them as hiccup approached him slowly.

"What's wrong with you buddy, she's the enemy....what did you do to him?" He asked harshly, she frowned.

"Ah didn't do anything...bad"
"Why should I believe you?"
"Ye just saw what he did and ah think ah know why he did it"

Hiccup raised an eyebrow, merida sighed.

"Ah was shooting mi arrows....well, training with mi dad and ah think one of mi arrows shot him down, fortunately the whisps led mi to him and ah was able ta save him, so if yer precious dragon got missing and returned to ye just know it's because of mi"

Hiccup looked at toothless then at her and sighed.
"Was that where you were buddy?" He asked and toothless gave him a look that said yes. He looked at merida but he wasn't smiling, he eyed her a bit.

"You...helped toothless....that's why he's acting this way around you. Thank you, I was very worried about him"

"It's... Okay, it felt weird ta be honest but also...good, he's a nice dragon"

Hiccup smiled and she smiled, everyone else raised one eyebrow they were kinda confused, hiccup cleared his throat, then looked at some guards, they nodded and approached merida, she didn't resist and let them take her away.

"Hiccup what are you saying?" Valka asked her son
"I think we can trust her" he said again, if toothless trusted her then she could be trusted.

"But she's...The enemy you said it yourself"
"I'm not saying we should set her free obviously we're still going to keep her here but make her one of us, that way we can have the upper hand and if she has to choose, it will be hard for her"

Valka sighed and rubbed her forehead then looked at hiccup and raised an eyebrow, he rolled his eyes.

"Mom its my decision so don't try to change my mind, I'm very positive that something good could come out of this"
"I wasn't going to change your mind son, you're the chief but...let's just hope you're right"
