Chapter One:
"Loki! Wait for me!", Blue shouted after her friend. She ran through the forest, jumping over rocks and sticks, the plants on the forest floor stirring after her. Her breath was heavy, and her smile was wide, her brown locks pulled back by the breeze, and her bright blue eyes were wide with excitement. Asgard's forest was explored once a week by the young prince Loki and his best friend Blue. Running through it, 'mapping' a new part everytime, they savoured their time together, as Blue's father Eon would be bringing her home to Skylands. "Keep up!", he shouted back as he ran through the tall trees until he came to a cliff side. As far as eight year olds went, these two were energetic to say the least. "You could've waited!", Blue said breathlessly putting her hand on his shoulder for support. "Looks like we found another one!", Loki said happily. Blue stood up straight, "Yeah...but it's a cliff, then more forest on the other side...". He rubbed his chin pretending to have a beard, "Maybe if we step back....then run really fast and jumped really high..?", he said trying to sound intelligent. Blue looked down, over the edge of the cliff. "Great thinking Loki! Let's do it!", she said happily. They stepped back. Loki took her hand into his, she looked at him confused, "Um...it'll work better if we hold hands, we will jump higher!", he said. She smiled, "Well, I guess you are the smart one! And it is your plan!", she said and they looked ahead. "Are ya with me Loki?!", she asked happily. "Always....", he answered bravely. They began to run and just as they jumped, they were pulled back. "What do you think you're doing?!", Blue turned to see her father, Eon. "We were just exploring!", she answered. "BY JUMPING OFF A CLIFF?!", Eon responded shocked at his daughter. He loved her dearly and feared for her safety...a little bit over protective."Loki! Your mother is going to be very disappointed", Odin spoke down to his son. "Sorry Dad..", Blue and Loki said simultaneously, heads down, looking ashamed. "Very well....Blue head back to the palace. We have to head home..", Eon spoke softly. She walked ahead.
Blue looked up at the pink clouds. The sun was setting over Dragons Edge. She thought of the...mostly happy memory of her shared adventures with Loki. It had been a whole year since he left the edge. A lot had changed in that year. The war with the dragon hunters was over, and the riders were packing up, to head back to berk. Spyro came up behind Blue and sat down on the edge of the landing platform. "Whatcha thinkin' about?", he asked. Spyro was different to the other dragons. He was from Skylands, as was Blue. He could talk, the other dragons were kinda freaked out by it at the beginning, but they got used to it. "Oh nothing much...maybe Loki...", he rolled his eyes, "Blue it's been a year. You said we'd go get answers from Dad and we never did". "Yeah..I know but we couldn't leave.... not with everything that was going on here...", she said sadly. "What about now?", he said. She looked at him waiting for him to continue. "The war is over. The riders are heading home. Maybe we should too...", he said regretfully. "But they're our friends Spyro...what if they need us?", she said in a panic, "I'm pretty sure they'll be okay without us....besides..maybe their questions are answered..but ours?", he responded trying to reason with her. "Spyro just....I gotta go", she said as she got up. "Where are you going?", he asked as she walked away, "To think".
Blue walked through the stables, arms crossed. She was annoyed that Spyro would think of leaving their friends. What if they needed help? Or what if the dragon hunters came back? It was too much to bare thinking about. She left the stables and found herself outside again, looking up to the sky, then to the different huts which belonged to the riders. 'What if we leave and something bad happens?', she questioned in her head. Yes. She was worried about leaving the riders. But right now? They were okay. Nothing bad was happening, and they were heading home. Spyro was right and she knew it deep down. 'Well then. I need to tell someone', she decided that she'd listen to Spyro. But she couldn't leave without telling someone. She didn't want a repeat of when Astrid had to rescue her from Asgard. 'Astrid...', she thought. She made her way to Astrid's hut.
Astrid heard a knock on her door, "Come in!", she said as she picked up a few more things. Blue walked in to a rather untidy hut, "Woah...this place is a mess..", she said truthfully. "Yeah well, packing usually is...you almost done with your hut?", Astrid asked walking by Blue picking up more items, "Actually I'm here to-", "I'm like super busy! Hiccup wants us out of here by morning so we can get back to Berk before dark, are you and Spyro ready?", Astrid continued speaking fast slightly out of breath. "ASTRID!", Blue said sternly grabbing her by the shoulders. Astrid looked at her confused,"Astrid...I'm leaving...", Blue said with her eyes shut. "Um..yeah..we all are", Astrid said laughing slightly, "No. I mean...Spyro and I are...going home...not to Berk. Skylands", she said sadly. Astrid looked her in the eye. She pulled her in and hugged her tightly. "I'm gonna miss you Blue. Do what you need to do", Astrid whispered as she teared up. She pushed Blue away and held her at arms length, "And don't tell anyone I hugged you!", she said sternly. Blue laughed softly, "I'm gonna miss you too", she made her way to the door. Just as she was about to leave, she shouted back,"And for Thor's sake hurry up and marry Hiccup!",Astrid laughed. Blue made her way back to the stables, finding Spyro waiting patiently, "Where did you go?", he asked referring to the amount of time she had been gone. She smirked, "Said goodbye...", he looked at her with excitement, "I'm ready to run...", she said and her smirk turned into a wide smile. She ran past Spyro, out of the stables. He ran after her as they neared the edge of well...the edge. Blue jumped high, with only the sea a mile beneath her. Spyro jumped after her immediately taking flight. She let herself fall, taking a deep breath. She transformed into a night fury just before hitting the water. The wind from her wings making the water beneath her splash around her. She looked up at Spyro who was at a height. She flew up to him. They flew forward, and as they distanced the island, Blue looked back....in sadness and in happiness. She looked forward once again, 'They're gonna be fine', she thought. She looked to Spyro, who looked very excited, 'next stop. Skylands', she thought. He looked at her and spun playfully, "Next stop? HOME!!", he shouted happily.
Blue flew above Spyro, transforming back into herself, landing on his saddle,"Yeah..home..", she smiled. She looked forward to the setting sun, raising her hand and using her magic to create a temporary portal in the sky. Spyro flew faster, and as he neared the portal, he twirled around fast while he entered it. The portal disappeared after them.
