Chapter 16:
Blue sat in front of the small fire, staring into its flames. Spyro still hadn't returned, and she was getting more and more worried with every passing moment. "I should look for him..", she said as she got up from where she was sitting. Loki walked towards her, "Blue no. We told you, he needs time to calm down". She walked past him shaking her head, "He's been gone too long. What if Draven found him again? Or what if he's hurt or in trouble? I have to find him". Loki rolled his eyes, "Fine but I'm coming with you", he announced. Blue turned to him placing her hand flat against his chest, "No. You'll stay here. He's mad at us. It's my fault he's gone, I need to fix this", she said as she walked away. Loki was about to protest but she had already gone, leaving him with her father and uncles. "Why does he hate you so much?", Conal asked as Loki sat down. "Why does who hate me so much?", Loki asked bitterly. "Spyro", he said simply. "He doesn't think I'm good enough for her", he said. Conal sighed, "And are you?" Loki looked at him but didn't answer, trying to figure it out for himself.
She flew over the trees, through the darkness that was the night. The only light she had was that of the glowing moon, although even the moons light would sometimes be cast out by the clouds. She had a hunch. She kept going South, deeper and deeper until she came to the mass of cloud and mist. She steadied her wings, bracing herself. She closed her eyes as she entered the mass cloud, and opening again, it was dark. She could see, but only just. As she flew through the clouds, they began to awaken. The colourful glows they had seen before, came alive from within. She was so focused though, her only concern was finding Spyro, and that wouldn't happen if she slowed down to admire the magic. As she finally emerged from the clouds, she entered the ancient homeland of the dragons once again. It really was lifeless, the bare rock and dead trees revealed that. She flew straight to the cave where they had found Spyro's birthplace. She landed and transformed back to her natural human form. She looked back at the wasteland below, then took a deep breath. She looked into the shallow cave, "Spyro..?", she called. He spit a flame of fire, to let her know he was there, it lit the corner of the cave very briefly. She entered the cave, setting up a small fire from the scraps of charcoal that lay on the cave floor. She was quiet about it, and Spyro continued to face his back to her, not paying attention to her actions. She lit the fire and sat down facing it and not Spyro. She sat in silence, as did he.
She sighed breaking the silence, "You scared me.....I was worried..", she said quietly. Spyro didn't answer. "Why don't you sit by the fire and ignore me? At least you'll be warm...", she said trying to cheer him up. Still no response. Blue stared into the fire trying to think of how to fix the situation. Spyro let a tear fall and spoke up, "I have no one left...", he sounded so hurt, she could tell he was crying by the pitch of his voice. Her eyes widened and she turned her upper half slightly to see him. "You, me and Eon were supposed to be a family...I never minded being the adopted one...because I was treated the same..",he went on. Blue didn't interrupt, she needed to hear what he had been bottling up this entire time, "but when Eon told you that he found you with me...you felt you needed to find your roots...I never did until now...", he turned around and started walking to her slowly, "you found your birthplace, your Dad, even your uncles...I found a deserted wasteland and an eggshell", he said the last part bitterly. Blue stared at the floor of the cave blankly, but she was breaking on the inside, she had no idea he felt this way for so long. "You found your family..and the one you wanna be with...I found an empty cave", he didn't sound jealous, he sounded hurt, "but I thought Eon and I were enough...I thought we were your family", he sat beside her and stared into the flames. "I had no idea you felt like this Spyro...I'm sorry", she looked at him, "You and Eon are my family, you always have been...", she tried explaining. "But when this whole Draven thing is over....where are you going to go home?", he asked looking her in the eye.
"I don't know Spyro, the thing is, I care about Loki...and I know you don't like him but-", he cut her off, "I may have been exagerrating...I don't hate him, I just hate what he could do to you..", she smiled, "He's not going to hurt me Spyro...and he's not going to take me away from you or Eon..we are family, we couldn't get rid of each other even if we tried...", she hugged him tightly, "I'm sorry you couldn't find your family Spyro...but you'll always have me, never doubt that..", he hugged her back. "Well you couldn't find your family but I sure did!", Blue and Spyro jumped at the sound of Draven's voice. He stood at the entrance of the cave, with a very large dragon standing behind him breathing heavily. Blue stood and got ready to fight, Spyro did the same. "Oh and about what you said about always having me...yeah I wouldn't count on that", he teased. Blue got her bow ready, "Not another step Draven!", she shouted. He only laughed, "Oh but look at you guys! You have nowhere to go! This is the only way out....", the dragon behind him huffed and spread its wings getting ready to battle. "But I can't stay long, I have a lot to do...oh and Blue you're coming with me..", he announced with confidence. She smirked, "Yeah right... if you want me you'll have to fight me..", she said with equal confidence. "Oh no no no sweetheart, you'll be alseep..", she gave a confused look, but before she could say anything, he blew black dust into her face, knocking her out almost straight away. "And you Spyro will be far to busy being chased by your father", Draven said happily as the giant dragon went after Spyro.
Spyro was driven out of the cave away from Blue. Draven picked her limp body up off the cold cave floor, "You just played right into my hands darling...or rather arms..", he smirked before a cloud of black smoke covered them and they were gone. Spyro flew fast, away from the dragon. The giant dragon wasn't using any skill, as if he wasn't thinking for himself. Spyro made a sharp turn, making the dragon knock into the side of one of the mountains and made a break for the cloud and mist. Spyro lost him...but he also lost Blue. Breathing heavily he looked back, then gained speed once again leaving the mass of cloud and mist. He had to get to the others fast. He flew until he saw the light from the fire, and began to lower his altittude. He landed and the others got up and went over to him, "Where's Blue?", Loki asked sounding panicked. Spyro was out of breath, "Draven.....he..he took her...", he explained. Conal's eyes widened and his breathing quickened, "My daughter....no no no..", he ran his hands through his hair, he was visibly stressed. "Where? How could you let this happen Spyro?!", Loki shouted. "It's happening all over again..", Conal continued to mutter to himself, while he rocked his entire body. "He has a dragon...a big one..and he knocked her out and sent the dragon after me", Spyro was still in shock, but he tried explaining. "Where did they go?!", Loki continued to shout while Seamus tried to comfort Conal. "They took my baby away again...I lost her again, I'm never gonna see her again", Conal could hardly breath. "EVERYONE STOP!", Seán shouted. Everyone looked at him, "Loki your shouting isn't helping anyone, Spyro just try think, remember as much as you can, and Conal", he looked up at Seán, "we are going to get her back...I promise". Spyro spoke, "I don't where they're gone, but he has her so we need to hurry up and find them".
Blue opened her eyes slowly, everything was dark and blurry. Her head hurt like hell, but she slowly started to remember what happened before she was knocked out. There was a warm light on her left, and she regained her vision. Draven stood in front of her, "Finally you're awake, and finally we get some real alone time...", he smirked waiting for her to respond. "They'll find me..", she said still regaining her senses. "Oh I know they will, they are a stubborn bunch I'll give them that, but it will take them a little while to find you so until then, I'll have my fun", he said getting closer to her. "Go to hell bitch", she managed to slurr out.
