Chapter Eight:

Spyro watched as the two cleaned up the campsite, leaving no traces behind. 'I could easily get rid of that god with fire..right now..', he thought to himself. Evil thoughts took over his brain, causing him to lose track of what was actually going on, 'He can't fly...I could throw him off the cliff....?', dark thoughts continued to spiral through his mind. His thinking and planning was interrupted when the two bumped into each other. "Oh God! Sorry Loki...", Blue exclaimed, slightly embarrassed from knocking into him and dropping the items in her hands. "It's rather alright darling...", he assured her, holding her arm. She half smiled, almost stopping herself, "Um....okay..and it's Blue..", she said walking around him. Spyro watched in confusion, the two were very...very odd. It was awkward, and sort of strange. 'Maybe I don't have to do anything...', he thought,'God of Mischief...' And that's when it hit him. 'God of Mischief..' The plan came to him. 'God...of....Mischief'. He smirked in approval. 'All she needs is a little convincing..' Blue and Loki finished cleaning up. Blue made her way over to Spyro, "Alright, we should get going". Spyro nodded. Loki strolled over, a smile forming for Blue. "I'll fly again today Blue..", Spyro offered. "Oh..no you don't have to do that!", she said surprised. He shook his head, "I insist..". She nodded, "Alright then, lets get going", she said as she climbed on Spyro's back. Loki followed her lead, wrapping his arms tightly around her waist.

Soon they were in the air, following their map. Everything was normal until they entered a large mass of cloud. The clouds were dark grey, rain about to spill. But it didn't, the air was unbelievably dry, no moisture whatsoever. It then became unbearably cold all of a sudden. "God! What happened..? Did we just enter another realm?!", Blue questioned, leaning her back against Loki's chest in search of heat. He wrapped his arms around her quickly, smirking at her actions. Spyro glided down slightly, "What the...", he said speechless. The clouds disappeared around them as they lowered in altitude, revealing "The forest....?", Blue said in almost a whisper. The three looked down over the vast forest, stretching past the horizon. "But...how did we get here so quick..?", Loki questioned aloud. "That's Skylands for ya...magical place...", Spyro explained still shocked himself. "Are you sure its the right place..? Neither of you have been here before...", he questioned again. Blue took a deep breath, "Technically, we have....we were very young according to Eon...". Spyro flew closer to the tree tops, looking for a safe place to land. He landed in a clearing, the two hopping off his back almost immediately. Blue, Loki and Spyro looked around them. They saw evergreen trees that were tall, reaching the clouds. The forest floor was covered in wild plants, broken branches, exposed roots and a lot of moss. The odd wild flower could be seen, purple and blue ones, their colour popping out against the mostly green and brown scenery. "Well this is...", Loki started. Blue interrupted, "Beautiful...". Spyro growled under his breath, 'Oh so now they finish each others sentences..? Could this get anymore gross..?', he thought. Loki walked over to Blue to look at the map she was holding, "So where do we go from here?", he asked. She shook her head, "I don't know...maybe we should just walk until we find people..?", she suggested. Loki looked more than unimpressed. "Is that not a bit pointless..?", he questioned. Blue rolled her eyes and started walking.

"Look its all we've got...besides, we find people, they'll know the forest well....which will give us a better chance", she explained. Loki huffed, "We could use magic..", he suggested. Blue turned to face him, "You really rely heavily on magic don't you Mister God of Mischief?", she teased. He smirked, "Well I can do many things with it....I'm very skilled...", he stared into her eyes. She awkwardly turned away, "I'm not going to even think about what you mean by that....use your magic to find the closest person to us, but we walk...no magic after that", she said in a serious tone. He put his hands up defensively, "Of course....whatever pleases you....darling", he smirked. "Oh just do it! It's Blue by the way....", she said sternly. "Oh I know...", he said as he began to well.. work his magic. Blue and Spyro stood there waiting. After a very long, silent two minutes...Loki began to walk. "Hey! Where are you going?", Blue shouted after him. He stopped and turned, "Follow me, I have a location", he continued walking. Blue and Spyro looked at each other, "Blue, I didn't say this earlier..but I don't trust Loki..", Spyro 'confessed bravely' as the two began to follow. Blue gave a sarcastic laugh, "Ya don't say..?", she said in an unsurprising manner. "Yeah I- wait...you know?", he said a little taken back. "You and Loki have been at each others throats since before we left Eon...of course I know..", she said half whispering so Loki wouldn't hear her. "So..does this mean you don't trust him either?!", Spyro said with excitement in his hushed voice. "I think he's the God of Mischief....but he's also more than that Spyro....give him a chance and he might give you one...", she suggested. "You like him don't you?!", he asked accusingly. "Spyro, he was my best friend when I was young...and we met again on not so great terms a year ago...he wasn't the Loki I knew last year. I just miss him. And I'm seeing the old Loki again, the real Loki...", she tried explaining. "Blue that doesn't answer the question...do you like him?", he asked again. Blue was about to answer when Loki shouted back at them, "Are you guys coming or not?" Blue looked over at Loki and then back to Spyro, "I trust him. So trust my judgement... please..", she pleaded and began to follow Loki. Spyro didn't respond, he just started walking.

Blue caught up to Loki, "Where is the person you found..?", she asked. Loki kept his eyes foward, "Just let me follow my magic dar-",he began but she interrupted, "My name is Blue...not darling. How many times do I have to tell you..?", she asked in a calm manner. Loki only smirked, then he turned to face her, blocking her path. She looked up at him. "It's a term of endearment.....darling....", he then continued to walk. Blue decided to let it slide and followed. The three walked through the trees....endlessly. The forest was certainly vast. The group had been walking for an hour when Loki decided to quiz Blue. "Why don't you use it?", he asked. "Use what?", she responded confused. "Your magic...you seem to very against anyone using theirs....cough me....", he said. "I do use my magic, but not for simple things like lighting a camp fire or looking for a local in a forest...I don't even know why I have one of the most powerful sources of magic ever known in Skylands or anywhere else...I only use it when I really need it..", she explained hoping he wouldn't question her any further. He didn't, instead he chose to think about what she had said. Some more time had passed, "Loki how much further?!", Spyro shouted from behind. Loki put his arm out straight to the side in front of Blue's chest, making her stop. "What is it Loki...?" she asked. He pointed forward. There stood a small wood cottage, in a clearing. The house was old, covered in moss. It looked abandoned. "This is where I tracked the closest person", Loki explained. Blue stepped forward, "Let's go then", Loki grabbed her arm, "Not so fast, we don't know if they are friend or foe...", he said, firmly gripping her arm. "It doesn't matter, there's a chance they can help us..", she got out of his grip and walked towards the cottage. Loki and Spyro followed closely behind.

Blue walked up to the door and knocked. She waited anxiously, Loki stood extremely close to her, ready to pull her away from a potential foe. They heard footsteps from inside the cottage coming towards the door. Blue took a deep breath and the door opened. There stood a man. Tall, brown hair, light blue eyes, and a kind face. He was young looking, though his clothing suggested he was poor. "Hi. I'm Blue..this is Loki and that's Spyro...can you help us?", Blue asked kindly. He smiled, "Of course...come in..", he stepped to the side. Blue smiled at him as she entered the small cottage. Loki followed as did Spyro. The three were lead to a small living room. The fire was lighting, though it was quite cold. "What can I help with guys with?", he spoke softly. "Well see my adoptive father found Spyro and I in this forest when we were babies...we are looking for our families", Blue explained. The man smiled, "Well, years ago there were caves in the south part of the forest where dragons like your one lived...", he told them. "Caves in the south of the forest...got it", Spyro repeated. Blue smiled at Spyro, then looked back at the man, "And me..?", she added quietly, afraid he wouldn't know anything about her. He smiled gently, "Your best shot is the village up North. That village has been there generations....", he explained. She smiled, "Thank you so much! Really...", she stood and they headed for the door. Loki and Spyro left first and just as Blue was leaving she turned, "Hey I never got your name.." He smiled, "Draven", he said simply. "Thank you Draven".
